Yes you can play against bots, in single courses. I just tried the game though, and it's horribly bad compared to Links 2003. I'm talking especially about the swing system, and the ball physics. I really don't recommend it.
btw guys, if you really like golf games like I do, go check the "linkscorner" website, cos the HD courses for Links 2003 have been made free recently! 😍 I remember thinking that "The Golf Course" sucked compared to Links 2003 + mods. The game is insanely inaccurate and you need more luck than talent to finish a course. I played with a gamepad (which is recommended) and it's horrible how inaccurate your shots are. Links 2003's "semi-realistic" swing system is still unrivaled! Finally, they also claim that the game has been optimized a lot compared to the first game. Loading times are PAINFUL on my side. I actually fell asleep before the first course started... I already played some nice 3D golf games like "perfect golf" and loading times were much faster... Graphics are really, really nice. Maybe the best looking golf game on PC, ever. But the gameplay is simply unacceptable. What a shame... Edit 2 : Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this game is bad. People are starting to complain on Steam:
"my swing is different each shot, even after practicing on the driving range: 100 yards with driver etc, there is no consistency in the game".
