Another crappy clone of InfiMiner. Game being advertised so hard and lots of positive reviews exist, but in fact it cant provide anything new or optimized at all. First of all, if you played in any 'cube' game, then you saw half or even more of gameplay features of Colony Survival. Second, theres no RPG elements at all for players and science tree for colony very small and can be pimped to max for a real life day, maximum two, due to abysmal portions of required colony points for a few last techs. Third, AI in this game sucks - besides very basic functions - zombies to rush to flag and workers to go to connected working place / food table / bed within own time cycles - thats it. Workers wont run or fight back zombies, zombies wont spread, try to dig and wont have any difference in actions besides different among of health, which let some zombies to pass more tiles. Fourthly, whole economy model depends on food and ammo - if anything will deplete, its basically total game over. Player(s) can resurrect but this wont help alot, because once people start to starve or zombies massively entered a colony - you gonna start from almost scratch minus opened technologies, because you wont be able to fix production chains fast enough. Fifth, after colony fully built and rebuilt to be perfectly optimized - literally nothing will left in game to do anymore. Thats it - you will be able to build another same looking colony or colonies until youll get insight - 'why the heck Im playing this weird game, wasting hours of life?'. Last but not least - game being sold for an awfully big price, comparing to other sandbox games, so for what it gives, even with 33% discount - its relly waste of money.
Works great now! Anti Piracy dropping people 780 seconds into a game doesn't happen anymore! Can finally enjoy this game in peace now, plus all the optimizations it has now, could barely run it before and now I am getting 30fps solid! If you do have any problems, rename the main folder in this version it is "Colony.Survival.v0.6.3.1" to "Colony Survival", i did it out of habit and dont know if it made a difference, it did a awhile ago on this one.
We are getting this problem now. (v0.9.1.0) I've had to split up multiple bases to minimize the damage, but my main village is kaput because zombies spawned from inside. Going over 100 villagers is bad juju.
To be quite honest about this game. The textures of the game look nice if a bit cartoonish. There is no animation for your character when you walk, run, attack, chop or mine and all the blocks do is disappear and reappear in your inventory as if by some unknown force has pulled it towards you. The crops don't look that great, The trees look horrible The characters you hire walk around and just stand at their post with an icon above them telling you what they are doing.instead of being animated to look like they are using their bows or swords. Honestly, if I'm going to take this game seriously it will need some definitive polish, QoL along with animation upgrades, the characters need to look less blocky and have a neck. My nephew likes it somehow. I don't hate it though and I'm happy it's up here so that at a later time I may see if it's worth it for me to play in the future.
I'm a bit late, but the game is made by two guys. I think the game is great for a two men team. If it was developed by a larger team then i would also say the game is quite bad. I don't think that the dev team knows how to make good animations or models its just two programmers having fun. Just consider when you reviewing the game that it is made by two guys.

This is not all you have to do. You must also change the steam account id (AccountId= ) in the colonyclient_data/plugins/hlm.ini file from whatever it is to a valid steam ID. You can use your own, or the ones provided by lukas (76561198052356484, 76561198057821080, 76561198031115213) or any other VALID ID. When I was messing around I actually found that you can keep everything in colonyserver_data unchanged as well. So, you only have to change the Steamd Id, username, and offline mode in the colonyclient_data folder.

For those who want to do it themselves, the only thing you absolutely NEED to do, as far I could figure out, is go into your colonyclient_data/plugins/hlm.ini file then change "Offline=1" to "Offline=0" and switch the steam account id from whatever is given to 76561198052356484, 76561198057821080, 76561198031115213 (the IDs given by Lukas here), OR ANY OTHER VALID STEAM ID, including your own, if you want. Make sure you and your friends don't use the same one, and you can also change your in game name here at "UserName= ".Then save and run your server as a steam non-public. Make sure you're connected to your friends via hamachi, zerotier, etc, and it'll show up in the server browser.

Seems the problem of getting kicked out of the game has returned (at least for me). I have followed the instructions from the featured comment, however, I only did this after I had already created a save file. The problem occurs when using said save-file, and I have yet to try another.

Hello, i am able to open the game, but to the main menu only, when i make a new profile it stays on the loading screen and says "Starting background server". not for 5 minutes, not for 10 minutes, but for a LONG time the i still am not able to play the game. please someone help me because i want to play this game so bad.
I found a way to play this game in multiplayer, but only over LAN or dedicated server. If someone wants my crack comment under me and if enough people want I'll post it.
there's no ip to change in server.json, it always takes the local IP that your computer has, so for example if your PC has a public IP of 80.212.30.22, it will host on that IP, all you can change is the PORT that it will host on, and all the clients must have their "client.json" match the same IP and PORT as the server. It works just like a dedicated server. Remember to port forward it as TCP if you have a router (only the SERVER needs to portforward, the clients don't)
got this server to work with a steam and cracked version, however the server seems to delete the inventory when you quit/start, so unless it's a persisting server you lose inventory and colonists every now and then. got a fix for this?

Depends on the developer and what they use to develop the game. A lot of indie devs still make their games both 32 and 64bit still. It really just depends on how much ram a game uses, 4gb is all x86 supports.
Does anyone have a file list that shows what files are installed in what directories in an uncracked game. Im sure the game is looking for any files that not normally in the directories and then "detecting abnormalities" Or tell exactly what files are changed and added for the crack that would work too.
It is the anti piracy the dev uses, most of the time a cracker wont play for more then a couple of mins, they just check to make sure the game runs. There was someone who was editing IGG's upload on this specific game and fixed it awhile back on an older version but i can't seems to find his site anymore.
I hope I am not interrupting this argument but at what point did Gabe state "the game doesn't have a demo so that makes stealing it ok". I saw him state "They might want to have an idea as to what the game is like because not all games have demos" which I can only interpret as an example of other products not having demos (not including this one). Gabe did stated in his 4th point "Some people just can't afford the product, but still want to enjoy it. I've pirated many games when I couldn't afford it but when I could I deleted the pirated version and bought the proper game." Which I can only guess is that the has pirated products but repaid whoever made it by buying it when he could afford it. I actually looked at colony survival on steam and it is $20 which is expensive considering it is in early access, a price drop to a reasonable amount like $15 or $10 will perhaps draw more people into buying the game, when the game is out of early access then you can make the game price go up because we as the consumers do not know whether or not the product will ever leave early access and we could be wasting money on a game that could fail horribly. You are right though about if he had a problem with the game then he should report it so he can receive assistance with it. A developer should know by now that their game/program WILL get pirated no matter what. I'm sure it sucks, but there are people who genuinely can't afford games, especially since decent gaming equipment costs so much in the first place. I saw this thread before didn't know it was still going. Well as Gabe stated people have various reasons for pirating. I also pirate games that are pretty expensive just to try it out. If its nice I put the money into steam then buy it. Since money put into steam cannot be refunded back to cash, I don't just buy then refund if I don't like the game. For this case I would probably buy the game on its full release.Yes I know this one is cheap, but again I would rather wait to pay for the full thing even if it would cost 2x than it is now (unless there was an awesome feature added then I would support it right then). Mate, Dozens of cracked games, actually most of them are playable on multiplayer, you just have to find the right crack for it. What the f* is wrong with people saying that cracked games can't be played on multi. Let's say Minecraft, let's say Stellaris, let's say Dead Island, let's say the escapists, let's say Ark Survival. And many many more, this game (and some other) don't have multi cracks because reasons, nothing else.

In this new 0.3.0 update when I open the game it appear a black screen for 2 seconds then it close. I think some files are missing becaouse the 0.2.7 version had 150 MB and this have only 63 MB.
There is a way to play it multiplayer. I made a working MP repack after finding a MP fix using SSE but I don't know if i'm allowed to share my files here.
Use the server exe to host a non public game. To join use the game exe and join the LAN Game. If you or others cannot join. Go to the game files and chance the value SteamIdGeneration in smartsteam.ini into a random nr or into the word static.

For anyone wanting to fix the exiting out of the game problem, some people have said switching your internet off or playing the game in windowed mode fixed it.

I know this is like beating a dead horse and such but is there any way you can play Lan? me and my hubby love this game but it's really a game you need to play with more than just 1 person and no matter what we do, we keep getting errors about the steam api on trying to run the servers on our computer. I see a LOT of people complaining about this , run it as admin . That is the only thing I can say , if it doesn't work update/install everything from here: http://igg-games.com/black-screen-cant-start-games.html . But guys... Please keep in mind that this game is in very early stage of developing and its made by indie developers as well so it makes it even worse , give the game a bit of space, engine and mechanics are very simple, you could probably make it in a month or less but the idea behind it is what made it popular, so anyway.... The devs are probably doing their best to make sure the bugs are fixed now, just be little more patient......
The game works fine kek. Its IGG-Games Multiplayer crack that doesn't work. It causes the game to crash, noone is complainning about the game itself, its the fact that the pirated version doesnt work.

I think I have a solution, downloaded the new patch, start it, and get kicked out like many others. Open the task manager, and saw that the Colonyclient.exe is running. Open Firewall settings and blocked the ColonyClient.exe Started the game again and is now running as it should. At least for me. I blocked the LAUNCHER_x64.exe too.
If you have windows 10 just open start-menu and start typing firewall and then chose "Windows firefall with advanced settings" after that click on Outbound Rules--> New Rule.
After clicking New Rule, a dialog windows open up, let the first choice be there "Program" ---> next select the exe you want to block. in this case colonyclient.exe Then press next and let the choice be "Block the connection" ---> And then let the next page be, if it's all marked, otherwise mark all tree alternatives, Name the the Rule and press finish. Done
Didn't work ... i've used the Launcher.EXE with the steam logo and without internet connection, same thing .. it loads at least 10% and then close itself

getting kicked within minutes of starting, tried installing Vredist, no change, tried all different Vredist links on faq page, no changes. even tried running in virtual machine for kicks. still nothing. finally I went looking at help forums, apparently legit copies don't have this issue. it seems to be an antipiracy protocol, I don't know how those work exactly, maybe someone smarter than me can find a way around it, but for now, the current version seems to be unusable.

Player(s) can resurrect but this wont help alot, because once people start to starve or zombies massively entered a colony - you gonna start from almost scratch minus opened technologies, because you wont be able to fix production chains fast enough.
Fifth, after colony fully built and rebuilt to be perfectly optimized - literally nothing will left in game to do anymore. Thats it - you will be able to build another same looking colony or colonies until youll get insight - 'why the heck Im playing this weird game, wasting hours of life?'.
Last but not least - game being sold for an awfully big price, comparing to other sandbox games, so for what it gives, even with 33% discount - its relly waste of money.
If you do have any problems, rename the main folder in this version it is "Colony.Survival.v0.6.3.1" to "Colony Survival", i did it out of habit and dont know if it made a difference, it did a awhile ago on this one.

I've had to split up multiple bases to minimize the damage, but my main village is kaput because zombies spawned from inside. Going over 100 villagers is bad juju.

look less blocky and have a neck. My nephew likes it somehow. I don't hate it though and I'm happy it's up here so that at a later time I may see if it's worth it for me to play in the future.

For those who want to do it themselves, the only thing you absolutely NEED to do, as far I could figure out, is go into your colonyclient_data/plugins/hlm.ini file then change "Offline=1" to "Offline=0" and switch the steam account id from whatever is given to 76561198052356484, 76561198057821080, 76561198031115213 (the IDs given by Lukas here), OR ANY OTHER VALID STEAM ID, including your own, if you want. Make sure you and your friends don't use the same one, and you can also change your in game name here at "UserName= ".Then save and run your server as a steam non-public. Make sure you're connected to your friends via hamachi, zerotier, etc, and it'll show up in the server browser.

I tried deleting http://gametorrents.com and igg http://games.com, moving folder from program files86 to somwhere else, renaming folder to colony survival, changing server ip to local and public,portforwarded 27004 even setting folder permission and still nothing.

Gabe did stated in his 4th point "Some people just can't afford the product, but still want to enjoy it. I've pirated many games when I couldn't afford it but when I could I deleted the pirated version and bought the proper game." Which I can only guess is that the has pirated products but repaid whoever made it by buying it when he could afford it. I actually looked at colony survival on steam and it is $20 which is expensive considering it is in early access, a price drop to a reasonable amount like $15 or $10 will perhaps draw more people into buying the game, when the game is out of early access then you can make the game price go up because we as the consumers do not know whether or not the product will ever leave early access and we could be wasting money on a game that could fail horribly.
You are right though about if he had a problem with the game then he should report it so he can receive assistance with it. Hopefully somewhere in my jibber jabber it cleared the air for someone and hopefully we can end this ridiculous argument about this amazing game. Lapis Whovian keep pirates at bay with this game because like you I don't pirate, I only stumble along, finding things like this site by mistake.

What I think Erik was trying to say is he didn't like the comment you posted because it seemed a bit hostile (not saying that I think it's hostile) but you do present a reasonable argument. save and run game...
if game is still closing look in same file and make sure that FullBlockNetwork=1
this is steam emulator and if # is in front of command emulator thinks its just comment and dont use command so u need to remove #. also 0 is no, and 1 is yes.
unzip both folders in game directory and replace all files.
