Hello, I've successfully downloaded the game and can launch it no problem, but can't make the updates work. It tells me it doesn't recognize the version of the game (which is 1.0.1.0 according to some files), anyone has an idea what's going on?
Same question here. Support is really bad here. Edit: I suppose the reason is, that the updates are for the Steam Version, not for the GOG-Version, which this one here is. I can't change the language eiter or install the language pack for DLC.

Lol there's literally a spot on the web page menu for VR games. It has hundreds of VR games listed wtf are you talking about doesn't do vr games ? I mean this game itself has VR support for God's sake lol this is a rediculous comment.
My last comment got deleted but, again, IGG has been releasing VR games since 2013 and has its own dedicated section for them. Not sure why my comment got deleted for pointing out this obvious fact.
That rule has been redacted because as far as I know the peep responsible for IGG now has a VR headset and can source and play VR games, thus he can upload them, and can take suggestions on which to get. Previously that wasn't the case, and he didn't want the website flooded with games he absolutely couldn't provide himself, although some people were generous enough to donate VR games.
none of the above. its standalone if you download it from here.. you cant combine this dlc with the basegame if you downloaded it here since its 2 seperate games.. if you so badly want to be able to switch from prey to mooncrash within the game you need to buy it with dlc.. but both are playable if you download them seperately you just cant jump inbetween them inside the game as cracked..
you dont have one single tech tree tho.. you have 5 characters with varying abilities to unlock... one can carry heavy shit one can transform.. one can fucking SMITE enemies with kinetic blasts but is fragile and easy prey for telepaths... one can hack everything and one can repair.. you need both repair and hack for opening every room in the facility and you gonna need those rooms :D on most obsticles is a note somewhere nearby giving you the code for the door or safe tho
its a completely different game... same play mechanics and overall look but mapdesign and strategies greatly vary... its way more flexible than the basegame and has you not run arpund as an overpowered moonlord at the end of it...
Hi all, so I am trying to delete the "Steamcontroller=005" line, and I can do it but when I try to save it it gives me this message:" You can't save to \x64\Release'. Please choose another location." I can save it to another location just fine, but when I try to save it in the folder where the .ini file is it wont let me and gives me that every time. Anyone know how to get around this?

ok the game works on my end.. out of curiosity does anyone know how to open the glass panel with the giant typhon monster behind it in "pytheas labs"? im trying everything ive been in every corner of the map and repaired and hacked everything i could find.. still nothing.. if anyone knows how to open the guys chamber pls tell me.. im wasting time and resources on this guy.. you can analize him with the psychoscope and he shows weaknesses and immunitys so he is a real enemy but there seems to be no button to release him... man what a dragg..

Not sure if this problem is of something on my end but for some reason the keyboard seems to stop working after i play this for a while. It will repeat the last action done before the disconnect and will repeat this action until I unplug and replug in the keyboard and hit the button that was repeating. Is this happening to anyone else? (edit) I fixed the problem by doing the fix by adding a semi-colon before steam controller=05 thing in the steam.api.ini
hi guys, i have installed the game without LANGUAGE PACK and everything seems to work but there is no options for xbox controllers in the game , anyway I got it this it seems that Arkane in combination with Valve want People to buy Steam controllers. they removed Xinput support.otherwise just we can use mouse and keyboard
Okay just to make it clear. If anyone is getting TERRIBLE frames like i was. Between 15-25 regardless of the settings. Go into the folder where prey is installed. Go into the binaries folder, find the file titled Steam.Api (the configuration file) and open it, find the line that says "SteamController=005" And simply ERASE it completely and make sure you save the file. And for what ever reason it will bring your frames back to normal, running smooth! Happy gaming friends! Other people tried to explain it, but they didnt do it very clearly, hope this helps.
I got to that point but it takes me to the place where I need to replace it and it gives me the message "You cant save to /x64/release'. Please choose another location." I can save it in another place no problem but I cant override the current .ini file.
Can anyone help with setting up a controller for the game? It shows that there is a controller menu in the settings and it's turned on but it still doesn't work
I didn't find a permanent fix anywhere but a temp one that seems to work.Not ideal but if you keep alt tabbing out,eventually the pointer pops up and stays.Still no controller fix though,sadly

Its standalone anyway, your main game doesn't matter unless you really want to be able to swap to Prey or the DLC ingame otherwise simply launch another .exe^^

HOLY CRAP! THAT WORKED. I dont know what you mean with "SteamController=005 by putting ; in front of it" cause that didn't do anything so I just removed the entire line and what is the result? 60 fps+! Thank you!!! finally the game runs smooth!
Thank Robert. Putting " ; " before a command line in the .ini basically stops that command from being executed by making it a comment. But yeah, removing works the same.

Already did that earlier like I wrote^^ and yeah it is easier and simpler indeed...as if I or anyone else ever would use a steam controller on a cracked game anyway xD
Open steam_api.ini and remove a line "SteamController=005" this will solve your issue, basically its the absense of a steam controller this is not a crack issue.. this is a game issue (even legit version are having same issue), xinput is still fine though (xbox controllers, ps4 etc)
On the Mooncrash DLC I barely got 30 FPS, its terrible. Can anyone help? My old PC even ran Prey fine at 60 FPS and I can play far more modern games as well. I already tried changing graphical settings or turning Vsync on/off but it did absolutely 0. Also updated my drivers the last time a week ago. Already also tried to install it on my external hardrive or on the SSD/Main hardrive - no change. Specs if you dont believe me: Intel I7 8700k Processor GTX 1070 8GB Samsumg 950 EVO 500GB SSD 16GB DDR4 3600 MHz RAM Win10 Pro EDIT: I fixed it thanks to another user. Open steam_api.ini and remove the line "SteamController=005" -> all lags solved
Go to steam_api.ini in the same folder as the exe file. Right click > Edit Ctrl F > SteamController=005 Replace "SteamController=005" with ";SteamController=005" Or delete the line "SteamController=005". Save and Launch game.
Ok, well then, been a month and no reply. I suppose it is safe to say there is no fix for this issue? Because I've sure not found any, I 'DID' really enjoy playing this game, well, when I had it anyway, but some kind of something made it stop working all together, and no amount of attempts at re-downloading and cracking have been able to fix whatever is going on, and no replies as to what it was that went wrong and/or how to fix it, I cant say as I know what else to do, I have already tried just about everything I can possibly think of to get it to work again, but nothing I've tried works. I guess maybe the only thing left for me to do is accept the loss, forget about trying to get it back and working, and I guess move on. I don't know if the problem is my computer, or if the game needs re-posted to website, I don't know where or what the problem was, all I know is when I first downloaded the game and cracked it a long time ago it worked fine, and now it doesn't work at all for the life of me, and I don't know what happened. Well its been a while since you asked for help.Something similar happened to me too(other game).I just did let the installer apply the crack,This version of Prey(skidrow) has a option to apply crack(click/mark/select it) for you,try it out if you not already did it(turn off AV-Prog of course).Hope it helps
Uh, ok... I had needed to re-download Prey because it had stopped working, went through install and crack from CPY version, and set the .exe to run as admin and compatible windows 7 mode, tried to run the .exe... and nothing happens :/ does not even show up as opened in task manager. Is there a way to fix this? I remember downloaded this a long while back and once I figured out how to do the crack it worked fine, then out of no-where it recently stopped working, now when I download and crack nothing happens, tried re-downloading many times with same result... Umm, did I miss something? Or did I just not do the crack properly? I'll check the crack tutorial video here, just to make sure I did it right, I'm pretty sure I did it right, but will check the tutorial again just in case. Any help or tips are appreciated. Got the crack and the download done, but nothing happens when initializing it. [edit] scratch that, I think 'Win 7 Compatability' + run as administrator fixed it, that or it's a slow start up, that it's barely noticeable.

I tied to change the language in the CPY file from english to german. Game starts in German but as soon as I press any button on the keyboard the game freezes. Even when I try to type on an other program (after i tried to run the game) it freezes as soon as i type something. It works fine after i changed it back to english. Someone the same problem? How can I change the language without the problem to freeze the game when I use my keyboard?

The game launches fine, but as soon as I create a new save file, the game stops working after it tries to save after the loading screen. EDIT: Uninstalling "Due Display" fixed all of my problems. Game works like a charm!

the files go in the " \Prey\Binaries\Danielle\x64\Release " not sure if the cpy one has the same file structure. There should be three the cpy.ini , steam_api64.dll , steamclient64.dll this is what makes the emu work. only other option would be to try an install again to make sure all the files are right. if it works you might get the black screen that hangs, if you have a slow comp you might have to wait till it loads up with the logos from like 5 different companies,then the prey logo will show with [press any key]. That is where it might hang again and look like it freezes, then you have another bug from the emu. To get around it you have to a. use a controller to play. b. make the game run in borderless window mode then open a folder in explorer if it worked you should see the mouse move fine over the game but after clicking back on the game it will look like it froze. To get around this once in the game window alt-tab it will take a few seconds and then when you see a small box with icons right click back on the game, but not on the area the window is in the background. This is making windows and the game think you are focused on the explorer window even though you are mouse locked to the game.
If nothing happens when you double click the .exe, right click the .exe, go to properties and then compatibility, and select run this program in compatibility mode for your Windows and also select Run this program as administrator. It worked for me hopefully it will work for you too

Laptops suck for gaming vs a proper gaming desktop PC and contribute to why so many people experience problems in performance and avoid PC gaming all together. You pay more for less; if youre deciding between mobility vs performance on something you intend to do a lot of gaming on, save yourself the hassle and go for a performance desktop.

Not really. Mobile graphics are like last gen video cards. There is a reason high end cards are so big and its the same reason laptops cant use them. IMO there is no such thing as a "gaming laptop" - at least not in the same sense as a "gaming PC". Sure there are laptops that play games and so called high end gaming laptops but even those seldom play demanding games well, unlike a high end gaming PC. Its hit and miss and could be why we see so many "can my laptop run this?" and "PC gaming is such a chore" comments on gaming forums. You can pay almost twice as much for a laptop as you would a PC of the same spec. For the price people pay for their "gaming laptops" they could get a really, really good PC.
Lately is just depends on how you customize the laptop. You can also get a desktop PC with dimensions no bigger than the height of a pepsi can which can run a few AAA games at a solid 60-70 FPS, it's all about what hardware you use and how you use it now.

the lag in the memory transfer rate would be huge unless it has the same specs on transfer as the PCIE x16/x32 and the call back on a line out of the mainboard would be several milliseconds. They need to have an optical line based on the prism tech IBM uses that using several lasers to keep the rate high enough.
it does work. i played baldmans up until this released and have been playing it since. i just copied the cpy crack over the baldman and everything works fine, even kept my save
It would be nice to play the game but the cracks don't work. I used the ones included in the download and from Step 3 Update: Something is wrong with the patch given with the download and the step 3 crack so I was forced to download Baldmans Crack. I am not going to post a link here but it is easy enough to find with a google search
If Baldman didn't work for you... it'll never work unless the crack gets updated, or you change your hardware. Baldman's work is very specific to what hardware it'll work with, specifically CPUs. This applies to the recent Nier as well. Many people had crashing problems that game, and many other people were dismissing those claims just because they happened to have the right hardware for Baldman's crack. CPY > Baldman.
Well for some weird reason the Baldman one didn't even start up for me, just a black screen and then it stops working, but this doesn't even fix, now with this it just doesn't even launch at all... do i have to re download all of this CPY version for it to work? with the CPY crack? because i'm trying to use the CPY crack with the Baldman download.

yeah it works with keyboard just really broken you have to alt tab out the go back in then alt tab out of the game and right click on the game. It might take some time to get it to work as there seem to be some sort of keyboard mouse sync issue with the alter to the game. [at least on emu]
tried it 10 times... nothing. But another weird thing is that i can move the screen in menu and during loading with the mouse but then i cant do anything (i tried to change the key but seems like the keyboard is not recognised)
its awesome that you relied but that didnt really answer the question. they asked which version of the crack should be used not if they need to download all the parts.
Your choice. Both cracks are for version 1.00 but people are using 1.02 game files with Baldie's crack and it works fine (no real issues yet). This though probably is a "better" crack but that's all opinion.
Some people were reporting sound problems. Including the "everything is black" problem that even i had few minutes ago. My GPU is fine just in case and my computer should run it on max so.. Yeah. I think it's just crack problem because i noticed it's damn complicated it even has it's own fake steam overlay.. Annoying
June DX redistro should solve that. Plus, we all know the risk of running a 1.00 crack with 1.02 game files. You should check out CS and see what people are saying. In fact, CPY was thanked but many are sticking with Baldie's crack.
-- Mmmm, I havent looked into the game cracks of this one but I do kno not all game cracks are made alike. They edit different files of the games system files. Overlaying one crack source over another usually ends with some incompatibility issues. Savegame issues seems to be one of them. Load issues another one, and so on.. IF the game even starts up.
yea cpy usually hacks the executable w/no need for steamemu. usually points their saves to a different location and after applying the crack you have to start a new game or find where your saves are stored and copy over to their location.

IMO there is no such thing as a "gaming laptop" - at least not in the same sense as a "gaming PC". Sure there are laptops that play games and so called high end gaming laptops but even those seldom play demanding games well, unlike a high end gaming PC. Its hit and miss and could be why we see so many "can my laptop run this?" and "PC gaming is such a chore" comments on gaming forums.
You can pay almost twice as much for a laptop as you would a PC of the same spec. For the price people pay for their "gaming laptops" they could get a really, really good PC.
Of course laptop is mobile so the GPU need to be reduce quaility the fit it!
But now we have EGPU! we can attach even GTX 1080ti in that, attach to laptop and play heavy game!

They need to have an optical line based on the prism tech IBM uses that using several lasers to keep the rate high enough.
Update: Something is wrong with the patch given with the download and the step 3 crack so I was forced to download Baldmans Crack. I am not going to post a link here but it is easy enough to find with a google search

EDIT: it works with a controller but not my keaybord, anybody with the same issue ?
It might take some time to get it to work as there seem to be some sort of keyboard mouse sync issue with the alter to the game.

My GPU is fine just in case and my computer should run it on max so.. Yeah. I think it's just crack problem because i noticed it's damn complicated it even has it's own fake steam overlay.. Annoying
