To be fair, that orange box does seem misleading. In the forums, the dev says it can be played without a headset and that Steam forces them to put that disclaimer up. He tried to add the good news in the description as well. :(

When i open launcher (or launcher_x64) game opens but i get Account Veryfication screen and after 15second countdown it closes and opens up Far Space Steam page.

same here, it would appear that the game itself tries to check if it brought from steam and if failed the game will close
