So if you find my "guide" incomprehensive, check him out.
Oy just found a fix for this. Head to the "data" folder inside the Forts one, and inside there should be a "packs" folder. And inside the "packs" folder there is a _halloween.pack. just remove it and it should be fine
I found the problem! There is a windows batch file called nickchange which you have to use and if that is not it then go into steam_emu and manually change the IGGGames username to yours(I did both at the same time so I don't know which one did it)

Go in the Forts folder X:\Games-CG\Forts.v1.5 then scroll down till you find steam_emu.ini do a right and open it with notepad or the preinstalled app editor. Scroll down to UserName and delete IGGGAMES, then change your name to steam_emu.ini

You gotta copy the files from the forts main directory except the forts.exe and copy them into Forts.v2019_01_11a/fixed_exe_v2019_01_11a idk if you can play campaign but skirmish seems to be working
I just found out the Ai disables, i tried fixing at least the campaing with older game files but then the console spams errors and makes the game unplayable, if any of you got ideas hmu
I can't get this to work. I followed a lot of the comments below and found none of them solve the issue where the game detects it's a pirated copy. Is there a more updated guide to remove or a workaround for the piracy detection?
to fix authentication error, try using this method.
go to Forts.v2019.06.20a\Forts.v2019_01_11a\steam_emus\SSE_v1.4.3 double clcik SmartSteamEmu.ini go down to find "StartIn = ", delete the "#" in front, then add the location of your "forts.exe" behind the "StartIn = " (i show you mine after edit, it should look like this, StartIn = D:\Downloads\Forts.v2019.06.20a.Inclu.DLC\Forts.v2019.06.20a) go down a little bit to "SteamClientPath = " to add location of your "SmartSteamEmu.dll" (i show you mine after edit, it should look like this, SteamClientPath = D:\Downloads\Forts.v2019.06.20a.Inclu.DLC\Forts.v2019.06.20a\Forts.v2019_01_11a\steam_emus\SSE_v1.4.3\SmartSteamEmu.dll) then go down again to find "Offline = 0", change "0" to "1" save file. (make a backup of original if you want) then launch the game from "SmartSteamLoader.exe" which can be found at same location as the ".ini" file. hope it works :) cheers **Edit: one more step, find "AppId = ", change the number to "0".

Its there and works but i cant play because game shuts down after 2-3 minutes, so i cant enjoy the game and there is no steamemu.ini after dlc update so old solution is not working :(
Did you download an exe file? When opening the exe, did you get a rar file, or am I missing something? If the above is true, you downloaded an ad, make sure you get the correct file.
To fix the verification error do the following (seems to have worked for me so far):
Delete the following files: — Forts.exe.BAK — IGG-GAMES.COM.url — PCGAMESTORRENTS.COM.url — README.txt
Change the contents of the ``steam_emu.ini´´ file by adding/removing some random stuff.
In the same file change the values for the following lines: — UserName=IGGGAMES´´ to something else. — Overlays=1´´ to 0. — ``Offline=0´´ to 1. And then after you check the game out and you really like it, BUY IT!
Doesn't work for the new update, or otherwise i'm blind, but there's no steam_emu, only steam_emus, and it's a folder with some profiles in it, there's no .bak file either

no, as you might see below people had authentication error, as crack wasn't 100% effective. his thing actually helps, as I had the same problem, I simply changed a thing there and here. (language and username)
I don't know about you but it seems that the Crack isn't fully fixed. Surprising how no cracker managed to remove the Anti-Piracy protection, even though some of them already cracked Denuvo games. (i was talking to IGG in the first sentence.)
Edit: just to clarify, the current crack was done improperly. It is no problem with the game and I have advance knowledge of coding in the game engine used by forts. Simple, I know how to crack games like this. You just use smartsteamemu because it searches for steam and then auth error.
your so lucky you are able to do this! ive tried and have only been able to get it perfect once out of the 100's of times ive tried so hard i know programming uses math and math is my worst subject when i went to school over 30 years ago i envy you
actually, now when a program is already made, you need to do more words then math. i also got a 97 in math this quarter for the 9th grade (14-15 years old) and a 100% in BBT (Broad Based Technology) but don't think i am good at everything because i got a 61% in art :P for something like crack you just remove line A and modify line B. it is even easier when literally all you have to do is install 1 program and configure a single .ini file. I did the same thing in an older version pre-tons of guns, but i have never seen a crack online using the same method. look for mods in steam and go to this site (there are two other sites but can not download the mod) http://steamworkshop.download/ I have not yet installed any mod to know what to do yet
thank you I've just read your comment i found out about this 3 days ago and downloaded some to install them you take them to DATA folder then you put them in mods for maps you simply copy them to the maps folder

yea i dont know about the rest of you but the game plays great but adding any mods to the current version i got here today, the mods seem to crash the game! longest i can play is about 5 min and then it crashes! So i'm getting rid of all mods! wasted my whole day trying to get them working.the ones i got were 2 different battleships map mods, tanya's mod, bfg complete pack mod, and BFG "Big F**KING GUN Mod. Maybe in the future when they can make the mods more stable as to not crash the game i'll try again but for now i'm done!
ugh i think i spoke too soon! when i activate the mods it crashes my game after a few seconds game isnt playable using mods! I think the battleship map mods need to be installed differently! right now no map mods are working and when i try to use any mod i get a bunch of errors and then my game starts as if i was playing a regular sandbox game and im in multiplayer mode so i think something is def wrong! looks like the map folders go into the regular map folder as well! but game keeps crashing im ready to deep six this whole mod thing i'd rather play then have a non-working game!

Now extract the mod zip file and make sure u click Extract Here and not Extract to [file name]. Then go into the Cracked Forts file that I assume u have extracted to even play it in the first place. My example will be in the Downloads folder. Go into Forts folder and navigate to the mods folder (Your Forts folder(unzipped)/Forts/data/mods), and paste the extracted Tanya's mod folder into the mods folder. (U can now rename the Tanya's mod folder to anything that u wish and please take note of what u renamed it to) Now navigate into the db folder (Your Forts folder(unzipped)/Forts/data/db) and open the mods.lua file with any text editing program. Now under AllMods, scroll down until u see the line ['zerogravity'] = true, Add a new line (do not overwrite that line) ['What u named the Tanya's Mod folder earlier'] = true, as I named my folder tanya-mod the line I should add will be ['tanya-mod'] = true, Do the same under MapMods and save the file. If u have done everything correctly u should be able to play with the mod :)

Ok so... u have to download the mod file from steam workshop. Here is the Tanya's mod link: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1492181905 , and then paste that link into any steam workshop file downloader, this works for me: http://steamworkshop.download/download/view/1438584334 , paste the Tanya's mod link into the box and click download. You should be able to see a download link, click it and it will start downloading. (This is only for how to get the mod file)

Well I only tested Tanya's Mod, Indef Weapons and Devices Mod. I could not get the What Are Tiers mod to show up in the Mods List soo ye. Not all mods work and Im guessing it because the mods don't work in the latest version on Forts.
I did manage to get Tanya's Mod and the 2 Indefinite Upgrades mods working on this cracked version of Forts. (Had to search all the files for 2 hours lol) For some reason What Are Tiers? mod doesn't work for me which is weird but ok then.
I don't get how to make multiplayer work, I open steam, open the game, i can see people playing it on the shift tab but i cant invite them to games or join onlines ones, the lobby doesn't seem to work either, do i have to create a lan game and make them connect throught hamachi or something like that?

The game crashes after 5-15 minutes of being in the game, not on the menu. A prompt pops up saying something about removing pirated files and authentication error, then proceeds to crash the game, please help. I can't find any other places to download this either.

I assure that your window dont have some driver need to start game and steam. You can try install all Vredist, C++, NET Framework, XNA,... then go to Steam page, install Steam client: http://store.steampowered.com/ .Then extract game and play then ;) . Because I assure that if you can't start steam, you will cant start many games too. I forgot said start steam before start game. But you should start steam before start game, dont worry about banned by steam, I played cracked games with multiplayer since 6 or 7 years ago. And my steam account still live now :D. If you carefully, you can create other account and use it ;)

When i start the tutorial it;s fine but as soon as i place a weapon and start firing after a few seconds it crashes and says i need to send files to the devs. I;m reinstalling now to see if that works but if it doesn't i dont have a clue what to do. Will update in a min to see the result.

Ok everyone, go in your folder, then find "smartsteamEmu.ini" and change that "securedserver = 1" like that "securedserver = 0" and "Onlinemode = 1" into "Onlinemode = 0" it should work, in any case it work for me. Ps: Also do the soluce of "TheRealObama", and sorry for my english, i'm french.
ok so far.. i got to this point. Re downloaded this version game, tried to find files as mentioned below in comments, they are no longer in this install, the offline mode has been corrected to what it should have been from a 0 to a 1. "even disconnected the internet cable as mentioned above in red" the game does start yes, i can do what ever i want in the options with no issues there, i can select any game type i wanna play, also no problems here. i can build ingame, place items no problems, but then, when i shoot, no matter what gun in any game mode, campaign it starts authentication error, game freezes over and get kicked from it shortly after.
yes this version v2017.04.22a has an authentication error. try downloading the 2017.04.20a version of the game and follow my instructions again bellow. gudluk

all links are working correctly (tested all except openload which for some reason need me to go through proxy) for googledrive if unable to view or download means too many people accessing that file theres a workaround for that, search yourself as i forgot the details

which version are you using? 2017.04.19 or 2017.04.20a? im using the 20a, and its working what did you do when the game crashed? shooting using machine gun? (that is what mostly causing to crash) and is it showing 'authentication error contact blah blah blah..'?
i use the 20a and after a few minutes of game, a message "authentification error" appear, and the game crash...what did I do wrong? :/ EDIT: The tip below worked, thanks!
run as admin? ah, did you change the 'offline = 1' or ';offline = 1'? if you write anything in front of ';' it wont affect anything before it should be 'offline = 0' not '; offline' ah, you got it worked, have fun!

so far its working without authentication error no crash by machine gun, or anything else i did crash at first when i try to only rename the file (no delete or move it elsewhere), i did the change 'offline = 1' too and second try, i put those 4 file to new folder and turn off any network connection, work like a charm thank you for finding and announcing the fix/solution!

you can play it as long as you dont use machine gun (which is hard) and no guarantee that you wont get that authentication error or any crashes even legal (steam) player also having issues with authentication error, but i dont know if the source of the problem is exactly the same, lets hope they release a patch update that fix the problem as soon as possible

It's really weird too. My young brother checked on his PC, Turn off internet > Add it to Non-Steam in Steam client > Start from that... He played over 1 hours before it got crashes xD . I know developer checked Steam login while playing game. I will try tomorrow. I need sleep now. BTW, I hope someone can find some method for this.

The error appears for me when i'm trying to shoot with the turrets everytime. i installed everything from the commandredis folder and run the launcher as adiminstrator

Head to the "data" folder inside the Forts one, and inside there should be a "packs" folder. And inside the "packs" folder there is a _halloween.pack. just remove it and it should be fine

Error Message "Authentication ERROR!" ever after 5 mins playing
and when you have it downloaded go to forts folder and data if its a weapon mods etc place it to the mods and if its a map place it to maps
X:\Games-CG\Forts.v1.5 then scroll down till you find steam_emu.ini do a right and open it with notepad or the preinstalled app editor. Scroll down to UserName and delete IGGGAMES, then change your name to steam_emu.ini

go down to find "StartIn = ", delete the "#" in front, then add the location of your "forts.exe" behind the "StartIn = " (i show you mine after edit, it should look like this, StartIn = D:\Downloads\Forts.v2019.06.20a.Inclu.DLC\Forts.v2019.06.20a)
go down a little bit to "SteamClientPath = " to add location of your "SmartSteamEmu.dll" (i show you mine after edit, it should look like this, SteamClientPath = D:\Downloads\Forts.v2019.06.20a.Inclu.DLC\Forts.v2019.06.20a\Forts.v2019_01_11a\steam_emus\SSE_v1.4.3\SmartSteamEmu.dll)
then go down again to find "Offline = 0", change "0" to "1"
save file. (make a backup of original if you want)
then launch the game from "SmartSteamLoader.exe" which can be found at same location as the ".ini" file.

Simple, I know how to crack games like this. You just use smartsteamemu because it searches for steam and then auth error.

i can do what ever i want in the options with no issues there,
i can select any game type i wanna play, also no problems here.
i can build ingame, place items no problems,
but then, when i shoot,
no matter what gun in any game mode, campaign it starts authentication error, game freezes over and get kicked from it shortly after.

what did you do when the game crashed? shooting using machine gun? (that is what mostly causing to crash)

i did crash at first when i try to only rename the file (no delete or move it elsewhere), i did the change 'offline = 1' too
and second try, i put those 4 file to new folder and turn off any network connection, work like a charm

even legal (steam) player also having issues with authentication error, but i dont know if the source of the problem is exactly the same, lets hope they release a patch update that fix the problem as soon as possible
