I downloaded an old version of Dead cells and i had my processes in a folder named "save" , how can i move my processes to new version without lost all them?

Tried copying my save files from Castlevania update unto the new version. But for some reason i would not recognize the new files and some old savefile from 2021 is the one that keeps apearing

Yeah I unlocked some of them again since I posted that a few days ago. And I notice that I kept having this screen popped up whenever I opened the game for the last few patches before Castlevania, and it seemed my progress since this happened is now lost when I move the save file to the Castlevania folder.

Hey guys, i have version 28 and i was wondering if there's a way to transfer my progress to the newer version. Also to change the version of my save file from 28 to 30
You just have to overwrite your version 28 with the current version by moving every file from the current version to your version 28, you don't have to make any change on your save file. When it's done overwriting you should have your progress carried over to the current version and the DLCs working as well. You should also backup your version 28 if by any chance it doesn't work after overwriting
If you have the game version before this (I had version 28) and just overwrite your old game version with this one it'll be fixed, it works for me. Other than that however I don't know any other fix sorry.
You have to download a save online, it should have the blueprints and the achievements related to the daily challenge. Otherwise, it's impossible to play a daily challenge with an hacked version of the game. But if you really want to play it, you can get it on a free apk on android or ios

It's not corruption, i think it's because the game is checking if you can unlock the achivement(if you are in a secret area and if you didn't unlocked the achievement on your steam account) and if you can, he send a request to steam to unlock the achievement on steam. But because it's a crack, it don't work, so he never get the answer from steam that it's all good, so he try in loop to unlock the achievement

I think it's got something to do with the fact that this is the GOG version and not the Steam version. Are you talking about mods for the Steam version? Perhaps you could try better luck with Nexusmods.

Even the Steam version of Dead Cells doesn't allow modding in the cracked version. I Have already tried a lot of folders, but because it's cracked, in the case of Dead Cells, it doesn't work.
Download latest version. Copy save file zip from previous version and extract in latest version save folder. If the save folder does not exist, just copy the "save" folder from previous version and paste it inside the latest version deadcells folder where all the "bonus, logs, Redist" folders are. Worked for me when I switched from the training room to Everyone is here update.

Yes, it has this bug. One way to fix it is doing this: in the "steam_emu.ini" put the "offline=0". This fixes the problem for now, for the people who are using the codex version.
Yes, is in the same folder which is located your game executable. Just press ctrl+f in the game folder to search for it and type "steam_emu". If even doing this you didn't find it, maybe you still need to copy and paste the codex crack in the game folder. Keep in mind that when doing "offline=0" the game will be saved in the codex folder, in public documents. If you later want to transport your save to another version of the game, you will need to find them in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\CODEX\588650\remote"
Those are ads. Ignore them. After pressing on one of the websites above, make sure you're on "bluemediafiles" or something alike that, I don't remember exactly. Wait 6 seconds, press "continue" and then download it from the website you were redirected to. Watch out for ads! They can always contain viruses.

If u downloaded a mod you will have to modify the game by yourself, which take quite some work to do, you would have to unpack your game files, modify then, pack them again and replace them in the game folder, and you would probably only be able to install 1 mod.
so i downloaded it from google and it says rise of giants, bad seed and fatal falls are installed. i also didnt have to crack anything, just dl and run deadcells.exe this is new to me. now im confused lol

Fatal falls DLC is not in the game and I can't get the weapons exclusive to the fatal falls DLC like the snake fangs. They are still in the game but inaccessible because of missing DLC. Plz add the Fatal falls DLC igggames I wanna beat the new boss

This is a cracked game, so it can only run offline. In order to play online you need to actually buy the game. This is true with every cracked or pirates thing you find.
I'm not much of a fan of "roguelikes", but the combat, bosses, soundtrack and constant updates keep me engaged in this one. Problably the best of the genre in the market!
If you guys are confused how to Transfer your old save to the Newer version, here's the solution. In the previous game version, go to the ingame file and then go to save, there you will find a save file http://Backup.zip, then you need to copy the save backup file and then extract the file in the newer version save file. The instruction should be in the Backup file.

Hello guys, until now everythin worked perfect but if i press play it keeps saying save file is incomplete with current game version. left click on your save folder. select copy. paste it onto your desktop. update your game. drag the save folder from your desktop into your game's root folder.

after you download you unpack it by using winrar then you click on the folder and go to update and click on setup now a window should pop up click on copy contents of PLAZA directory instaldir and click install
I'm running v 1.4 and I can not seem to find the save file. I've checked the saves folder in the game folder, but all I see is steam_cloud.dat file. I also can't seem to disable the cloud sync option in the game. Any help?

Yes, it's fairly easy to fix. It sounds like you got the game installed. Make sure you have an ISO Mounter, mount the original ISO file that the torrent came with, go to This PC, Right click the Dead Cells Drive under Devices and Drives, and click Open, then open the PLAZA folder and copy all the contents into your Dead Cells installation folder and it will work. The PLAZA folder contains the crack you need so it doesn't open Steam. Hope this helps.
Thanks for replying! This fixed the steam problem. Now there is another problem. Now whenever I boot up the game, a popup appears saying "Failed to load library steam.hdll". I've tried copy pasting files from old versions, I have tried turning off windows defender, excluding the folder. Nothing seems to work,
I would try deleting your Dead Cells installation folder, reinstalling the game, then copy and paste the crack into the new install, then run the DeadCells.exe as an administrator and it should work. And make sure Steam is closed when trying to run. Idk if it matters or not, but it might.

For the issues with the save files, enter the game and deactivate the steam cloud. After, just go to X:\Dead Cells\save There should be a .zip file with the name backup-date. Decompress the most recent in the save folder. Delete the steam_cloud.dat file. Enter the game and you have your last game

I don't get the thing about experimental... You just need to run the game (NOT STARTING A NEW LEVEL), exit the game without doing anything, copy your previous profile folder in the new one, and that's all... There is 2 files (by default) to copy : From Bestiary Update : X:\Dead Cells The Bestiary\save\user_0.dat To this version : E:\Dead.Cells.v1.9.4\Profile\VALVE\Saves\user_0.dat Same for options.json if you want to keep yoru settings (just change the language, it was not kept for me). There is literally NOTHING ELSE to do...
For guys that are encountering the experimental thing, i have a solution. You need to get a fresh new save file and i can get you one. So maybe if a modorator is near i may send it to him then he would be able to give it to all of you guys.

Ok actually I dont know how to create a new game file but I can provide you one. So please give me your mail or a discord maybe so I can send it to you. Then to install it, it's easy. First install to crack and launch it at least one time. Then go to the files of the game, search for Profile -> Valve -> Save and there normally would be the save file, named a thing like "experimental_slot.dat". Don't touch it for now. And just copy paste the new save file I provided you. After this, launch the game a second time and go check your save slots. If all went good u have two game files, the experimental one and the empty one. Finally, copy the empty file data over the experimental and now you can play from zero. Please let me now if I have been understandable, if not ask me for more details.

Actually I did it with my game and it worked so I'm pretty sure it will work for everyone. In fact, you create a new save file but when the game starts you copy this new one over the "experimental" one. This is how it works. Ps : haha don't worry I'm not an English native (I'm French) but yours is perfectly understandable

Ok je crois que je me suis mal exprimé. En gros tu lances le jeu une fois normal comme ça pour que ça créé les dossiers save et profile. Ensuite tu quittes le jeu, tu vas dans le dossier profile->Valve->Save et là normalement t'as un fichier "experimental_slot.dat" celui-là tu n'y touches pas pour l'instant. Mais c'est là que tu rajoutes, toujours dans le même fichier, un tout nouveau fichier de jeu vide, genre "user_0.dat" par exemple Ensuite tu relance le jeu, et quand tu vas dans les save : tu disposés de deux save, l'experimental et la save totalement vide et là tu copy la vide dans l'experimental. Comme ça ne change pas le nom de "expérimental_slot.dat" le fichier ne sera pas changé à chaque lancement. En espérant avoir été clair.
j'ai bien compris ta manipulation mais j'ai un problème, mon fichier.dat qui se situe dans le dossier save se nomme user_experimental, j'ai essayer de créer une nouvelle sauvegarde vide à partir de la sauvegarde expérimentale en supprimant le contenu grâce au bloc note mais le jeu me dit que c'est une sauvegarde inutilisable bref je ne comprend juste pas comment créer une nouvelle sauvegarde viable pour copier son contenu dans la sauvegarde expérimentale désolé de t’embêter ^^ et encore merci pour l'attention apporté .

man so many issues - I downloaded a version maybe a month ago, but its 1.0 now when i launch. works, but no updates, dlc's, etc. its the skidrow version I believe, has a save folder. OK, so today I DL the latest version - first http://mega.nz --> Trojan detected, nope. So google drive --> OK until unzip, detects a different trojan in steamhdll file. Are any of these clean actually? Second, how the heck can we get this to run? I don't see a "plaza" folder/file to extract as mentioned below, and I have tried almost all the suggestions besides turning defender off - which sounds like horseshit almost never have to do that to get games to run in my experience. Any help would be much appreciated - seems like best solution would be if I could update my working skidrow copy, which I got from here also as I said, but that copy has a few issues also: for example, the high scores list populates daily with new scores, but I can never do the "daily challenge" because of a "problem connecting to server". Also, just for info, my version info at the bottom says 1.0 (2018-08-06-[number_here]-Steam) Thanks again!
all files are tested and scanned before upload so if files are being deleted its just a false positive. also even in the updated version the daily challenges will most likely not work as online features are removed from cracked versions
So is that windows defender then giving me false positives? Because I ended up trying 3 of them yesterday, all got buzzed for that particular trojan (Trojan:Win32/Occamy.C) and was "severe" and auto removed or quarantined it- but I have grabbed games in the past from this site and others where I don't have any issues w/defender -so it spooked me a little. Just wanted confirmation that this somehow is wrong or whatever before I unpack it haha. And I currently have version 1.0 according to the splash screen in game=(
all the files are the exact same so downloading from a different host will give the same false positive. its completely safe just make sure you get a .rar file not a .exe and disable windows firewall + restore files from quarantine and everything should work fine.
all games are tested and scanned before upload, so any detection on games from this site is just a false positive. it only happens sometimes depending on the crack method.
To others who'll download: If it said "Failed to load library steam.hdll" at first launch, try turning off your windows defender first, extract again, then go to Settings>Update & security>Windows Defender>Exclusions>Exclude a folder, then choose the whole game folder. I freaked out at first thinking I must have f up the download because I had zero knowledge in computer stuff, but after doing some amateur search here and there, it worked for me.

If it's not an Xbox Controller, you can use x360ce and put him into the game folder. After that, launch it, configure your controller and close the program, you didn't have to launch it after configuration.
Did you put the gog save into the new save folder? the new one is called "save" inside the new Dead Cells folder. (the save is called user_(number).dat by the way)
it says it misses the libhl.dll thingy so i downloaded it with all the file it needed, then it says it want discord.hdll, then directx.hdll, all good, until it says "failed to load function uv@resolve". what the hell is uv@resolve i searched for that but found only lights didn't find any file or anything im stuck i cant launch it. someone please help :/

if you downloaded a 2Mb exe file then its an ad download and you need to click download again to get the correct file. as for updating you dont need to copy anything just download the new file

Is it possible that someone could upload a save file that has the meat skewer (the 10 daily challenge weapon) unlocked? Before the bad seed update I actually managed to get 5 done with a pirated copy, but after that I couldn't anymore, so I was wondering if it's possible that someone managed to get to 10. Or is there another some other way to maybe cheat it in? I really just want to use that weapon.
when I use the update setup and install it to the main game folder i get the following error: res.pak Hash sum mismatch! Required MD5: 370520710 (this is true for both updates, and only the number in the end of the error differs) This is also unchanged by copying the relevent PLAZA files to the main game folder. after setting up the game and the DLC I get the following error message whenever I try launching the game 'dlc' not found in CDB data and I am not really sure what to do about that and something else about setting up the DLC the plaza setup program, whenever I try to install the dlc from it it gives me "res.pak Hash sum mismatch! Required MD5: 637071336" so I just grabbed the files form the plaza folder and pasted them in the game's folder myself (and yes the plaza setup still gives me the same message after that)

Required MD5: 370520710 I've tried installing update 1.7.1 then doing 1.7.2 and I got the error again when installing 1.7.1 If you can't tell me how to fix it then please provide a guide on how to port my save to a new game installation.
if you daemon tools right click on your iso file then click on "mount to", choose an emplacement. Once you have done that, click on your emplacement and you have a setup in it. If you don't have daemon tools just download it.(sorry if my english is bad i'm french)
This simply means, that if you use your save from the older version of the game to play on 1.7.2, you would not be able to play with the same save file on older versions of the game. If you press the button "I understand" You won't be able to use the same save file on the older versions of the game, just this 1.7.2 and newer versions. I hope I explained it properly. Try launching as Admin. If that doesnt work:https://www.opendll.com/index.php Copy n paste .dll files directly into game folder. Or reinstall game. Your computer may recognize that particular file as a virus or threat--Open your virus protection software and allow this file to work.
And pls ask someone to crack daily challanges so we could play them i remember in the first day of 1.7.0 release i could play them and now i can't. And i need to add that 1.7.1 is missing some files that 1.7.0 crack had, of course game works fine but without internet connection
For anyone who want's to copy your save from 1.7.0 to 1.7.1. In 1.7.0 you need to go: Dead Cells-->Profile-->IGGGAMES-->Saves. Copy evertyhing from there and then just paste it to Save folder in 1.7.1
To anyone wondering about the steam.hdll error, after trying out one of the suggestions below, I've found that copy pasting the steam_api.dll from a previous version of the game into the 1.7 folder will fix this. Anti Virus has not been confirmed to do anything, but if the game still won't run after you do this, you're free to try turning it off by going to Virus & protection and turning it off

Someone down further in the comments found a fix which I've tested and found to work. Go into a previous version (I used 1.5.7) and find the "steam_api.dll" file in there. Copy and paste it in the 1.7 folder. Try starting it up again

I've looked for my antivirus (I don't think I have one enabled), I've installed visual studio redist 2013 x86, I've deleted steamui.dll and reupdated... none of them seem to get me anywhere. Help?

So has anyone found out where this game actually saves? I did some testing and its neither the saves folder, the profile folder nor the public documents 588 something something(I don't remember the number)folder. I've done tests with copying in each individually only to find that it goes back to a really old save file. Though it is interesting to know that Saves folder and Profile folder are interchangeable for the game to obtain the old save file from

It is rather simple, you just gotta add the file called "steam_api.dll" to the folder where you installed Dead Cells. Had the same issue and that did the trick.
i'm having the same problem, i noticed that the windows defender is saying that it has virus so it's blocking, might be it, later i'll try to let it pass and i tell you if that worked

You'll be able to play with everything that you collected so far, but if you want to play in a older version you will need a backup save. For example: if i copy my save from 1.6 and transfer to the bad seed update i can't use the same save to go back for 1.6
I have a save from 1.5 and it gave the same message. But, I clicked through that and it still let me start with all of my items/stats/cells etc that I've accumulated. All it did is make me start from the Prison again (I was in Stilt Village previously). Also, I have access to the new stuff.
For some time, the save slots say that it is incompatible with the current version, and I need to update it. I have no clue how to go about doing this, aside from reinstalling it, but that didn't work. I would appreciate it if anyone could answer this, as I can't run any of my save files.
ok i've found a way, just go to the file location, find a file named "steam_emu", opean it, then find "Offline=0" change it to "Offline=1". Done and enjoy your game

Your save folder is here. C:\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\CODEX\588650\remote Paste the contents of Saves there. (with the folder with the .dat file) EDIT: Actually just paste the contents of Profile's "save" folder in to the Save folder in the new game. For some reason 1.62 uses this folder instead of "remote" where it always is for PLAZA.
It actually works in version 1.61. You can play the daily challenge 10 times in that version then move your save files to the "save" folder in Dead Cells Legacy from C:\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\CODEX\588650\remote to play 1.62.
Just go to your game installation folder.There will be folder name Profile in it.Copy it somewhere. Install new version then open it once.Paste Profile folder where you installed new version.
There's an easy fix for the Uncaught error : Just open the file "steam_emu.ini" with notepad and change the line Offline=0 to Offline=1 Should work perfectly.

Gamepad Not Detected The game does not detect my directinput gamepad. I tried x360ce but it still doesn't detect it. It only knows that I'm playing with keyboard and mouse. How can I get Dead Cells to detect my gamepad? Thanks!
You can play with directinput gamepad with steam.Go to the client on the top left it says steam,click it and then click settings.Search for controller.Open general controller settings then tick the type of gamepad you using. Add .exe file as a non-steam game.Then it will show up in the library as the name of the game.Btw you can change controller settings where you chose the type of controller that you'r using. I have a problem when I try to launch the game. First I have no Crack/Codex folder. Then, when I try to open the application call deadcell, I have a black kinda screen and then it return to the folder and the application disapear.
You need to copy the stuff from codex/crack/whatever its called folder into your game folder. You can do it directly through the Setup too by clicking one of the checkboxes
This method used to work, but like you said, it only lets you pull up old saves from awhile ago. I've unlocked waayy too much inbetween then and now, so guess I'll just stick with the older game in the meantime :)

It seems like the old version still, even if i downloand version 1.5.5 and open it, ingame it says that it is still 1.4 somehow. But the game is still updated, kinda weird.
You don't have do download the updates (1.4.9) and (1.4.11), the game is already updated to 1.5.1. However, I think the game is bugged because it shows it's on a previous version but it's not and I'm having problems creating a new save file, I have an ''experimental save file'' with everything unlocked for some reason I don't understand.
You're right. When I delete the experimental save manually in the files, it just creates a new one. I think it's a problem with how the game was uploaded to IGG GAMES, I don't think there's anything you can do other than asking them to re-upload the game.
i wish if the mods upload the version with full setup or take all these comments into a guide into how to install mods, it took me tons of time to find something useful on this matter

for me i just need the mod to unlock the daily challenge weapons once i did and the weapons are available in my save file, i got back to the original game file without mods installed, also if you need to change the mod installed you need to run the commands with that original res.pak file from the game.
first in the game you can find a file called res.pak ( that's the original game file copy it to somewhere safe as backup in case you need the original game again), what you do with the other res.pak in the mods/1 folder, that's the game + the mod build, you just copy that file and replace the original one in the game main directory, load the game, go to options, gameplay, show mods menu, load the game in normal mod and the game should stuck for a moment in the mods menu then start playing and you should find the mod you installed depending on which one you installed, for me that mod i ask about i can find it when you finish the first biom, good luck

Is the file size less than 5 MB? Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe? If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad. Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.

Good job... Advice: create a symbolic link "Steam" instead of this folder that point to a real safe Steam folder somewhere else. welp, it turns out you have to replace the .exe files and steam.dll of the game after you install it with the one in a separate folder after extracting the .rar file
I'm not trying to be ungrateful or anything but this crack is kinda messy,this is probably due to multiple crack groups cracking this game and results to having 2 kind of different saves,one is steam_cloud.dat and one is the one with the profile that contains the save.I think someone need to redo the crack properly this time to avoid losing progress because I don't want to replay the game again since I already do a lot of things with the Plaza crack.
This is the most half-assed crack I've seen in a while.... No install executable Save location doesn't exist besides the steam_cloud.dat option. Steam sync cannot be turned off. As a result, this causes progress to be deleted and no way of creating a backup of my files. PLEASE FIX!!!

Don't know if this helps Download the base game and the dlc (plaza) Install both but know where the main folders are installed Then copy the contents of the dlc folder into the base one Copy and replace Then copy the crack from dlc folder into base game and you are done If you have trouble with the way this place packaged the game download it from their torrent site like I did and follow the above instructions you would be fine.

k look open ISO and install the game after that there is a folder named PLAZA don't copy the whole folder just open the folder and copy all the files inside it to the folder where u installed the game and accept replace files and thats it

when is that happen? Is it when you install the game? If that the case, close it. Boot to safe mode (Search it on Google) then try install the game, after you done installing the game reboot your pc normally. Hope that work, because I have same issue with you but different games.
Go to your previous game directory and copy the "Saves" folder which is inside "Profile" and after installing the new game, paste it in the new directory.

Get your saved datas from the older version, files should be located at (in my case) : C:\Users\XXXX\Desktop\Dead Cells\Dead.Cells.v23.01.2019\Profile\IGGGAMES\Savesnamed. And files should be named like this : user_x.dat
After the installation of the 1.2 version, go to %SystemDrive%\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\CODEX\588650 to find the new location of the datas.
Simply copy and past your datas from one folder to the other. Enjoy ;)
ok guys i tried something and it seems to work to here what i did after extraction start the game but dont hit play exit the game and u will find a file name profile>IGGgames>saves now copy u old game file save wich is name (user_0.dat) agree to replace files and the go back to game and and hit play and normal mode the game will show u if u wanna copy u old save from the old version i will post a picture of what it showed me note: to be safe copy the file name (options.json) as well it might be needed idk i hope it helped :)
Alpha for the next expansion has been released. They actually changed/added some enemies that weren't mentioned in patch notes, and it makes boss cell difficulties much more annoying than before. Now the starting area has invisible knife throwing dudes. They suck. Some enemy AI has been changed as well.
I found my save file location to transfer: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\CODEX\588650\remote 588650 is the code for dead cells in the normal steam version, which is how I found it. So try searching for that in windows search if this file patch doesnt work. Transfered my save file from a different provider, and the 17.12.2018 version. All items and such seem to be intact. Hope this helps some of ya
Who names the Crack folder "Plaza". That doesn't mean anything, call it the Crack folder. Anyway. Plaza is the Crack folder, you're welcome to any poor souls who thought the readme would help them
if you had actually payed attention there was an option in the installer to extract items from plaza into the game manually you could have just ticked that
The crack group is called PLAZA so their file is named as such. You would see this down with other groups, such as Skidrow naming their crack folder "SKIDROW." IGG is just a sharing site, they watch for releases and uploads them. They don't do the actual crack work themselves. Hope that clears things up.
when you extract the ISO Folder you have the Setup. Install it and then in "PLAZA" folder there is a lot of other thing. copy all and place them in the game folder

if you were to open one of the exes in the file it would crash and proceed to delete the exe apon crashing. i'm going to see if its my anti virus, but if its not fixed, can yall look into it? it was infact my anti virus, for anyone else that is having this problem just add it to the exclusions of your anti virus
People! Download this glory version of dead cells while it's still here. The 1.6 that is on steam is wayyyy too easy. The 1.1 is the ultimate peak grind and difficulty. It gets tired by it's worth to have probably the most difficult iteration of the game ever.

Wait, that makes no sense. You already installed the game and now you are wondering where the setup is ?? I am not up to date but as i know if you download the game is already installed but compressed in a RAR file. You just have to extract it to your game folder and run the deadcells.exe. And if you extract a setup file (as i said i am not up to date on this game cause i have better things to do then download the game again) it could be that your anti virus program is deleting it without telling you

I moved the save file (user_0) from my old version to the "save" folder in v1, but it didn't do anything. the save folder in v1 install is empty now, but the game still says continue, so that's not where it saves. Update: Well I couldn't find a fix. Just used cheat engine to give me infinite cells. Only took about 2 hours to catch back up.

Block the game with your firewall.
Turn off your anti-virus.

Basically you're saying that your System isn't Updated with Redist (which are some of the requisite to play most games) These Dlls belongs to Redist 2013 Would be better if you install VCredist 2013 (both x64 x86)
Can't install the game on W10, hangs on Skidrow installer "game installing will finish soon." Creates a new folder in the directory but no new files are created. I searched around and others seem to also have this problem with Skidrow as of late. Tried as admin, tried copying contents of ISO and unchecking Read Only, tried different install paths and checking/unchecking various options, but nothing works.

This genre is ALWAYS repetitive, it comes with the territory. It is what it is. There is not one game in the genre that isnt repetitive in the same way. The game is a really solid one tho. There are good and bad ones, and average ones. This is one of the better ones released latley. If you arent a fan of the genre, then why even complain about it? Move on
It's a bit repetitive, yeah. At least until you manage to RNG a new weapon for a different playstyle. Other than that, it's the same rush through levels in order to challenge the boss you are currently having problems with. I mean, it's fun. But if you play 3 hours in a row for a few days, it's gonna get old quite quickly.

I did, through the install.exe in the ISO, and then, I redownloaded the game, reinstalled it again without the "apply crack" option, but by transferring the files manually, and it didn't worked.

It's just that there are some duplicate .exe shown as (.exe1) that looked suspicious after Defender triggered while decompressing. I checked and they are not in previous releases, could you guys at least check it out? I downloaded from Google Drive by the way.
I have this issue: when playing with a controler the camera is all the way up like moving up the analog/joystick and i don't see a way to fix this, and is very difficult to play like this because you can't see what is bellow, the only thing i now is that it's not the controler fault because i try an older version and it works fine

Open the game. Once you see the menu, choose the 2nd button from the top Then choose the 4th one which is language. There you choose the one that you want.

First off if you want to be helpful actually provide decent details, and not sub-par information. Also no need to tell someone to fuck off for wondering why their game is in two languages. To be more clear MrNoOne129, the version uploaded to IGG as of now is an Alpha branch build, these alpha branch builds are filled with content that is primarily tested for gameplay first, not flavor. Because of this the developers often don't bother translating these things, as its not the purpose of the Alpha builds. The Beta branch builds however move to a fuller translation. If someone would upload a Beta Branch Build the language bearer wouldn't be a problem, but as of now only a Alpha build is uploaded.

I don't get what your problem is. Are you unable to press the 'Play' button? Or are concerned about the red writings on the bottom? In the latter case don't worry it's saying: "It is recommended to play Dead Cell with a controller". I get that warning but I can still play the game smoothly on my 6 yrs old potato.

I found a way to fix the problem with that "steam.hdll" error , just like the other comments said , TURN OFF YOUR ANTIVIRUS , if you don't know how you can just look it up. After that , you will need to get back to the rar file , and extract it again , and THEN try to run the game . This worked for me.
open window defender, open app and browser control, set all the option to "warn", whenever a message of window defender pop out when you open the game, open it up, allow or restore the blocked app
Start a new game, then go back to main menu, click play and then copy your old save and override everything. Now click continue and you should have your old save ẹnoy the game
Well I was searching the same thing, but it's impossible. Once I figured out how to use the old data in the new version it says something like "Data is from an older version" and so it can't be used. That's only what I'v found but idk ^^
Deactivate your antivirus temporarily then start the game. After the game booted up you can reactivate your antivirus. P.S: You might to re-extract that dll file since I assume it got quarantined by whatever security software you are using.

Avast thinks steam_api.dll is a virus, and I'm not sure if it's just a false positive. I have used this site a lot and that never happened to me before.
I tried this and it worked: Since it was asking for steam.hdll , I thought that putting something that ended in that extension could work... So I went to the files of "Cuphead" (I used this one IDK if it works with other games) and after having it work(crack and everything) I copied this 2 files: steam_api.dll (something like 252 KB) steam_emu.ini (3KB) I know this is similar to the post you made but maybe it's the "emu" thing that was missing, so that's why it bugged to you. And that's that. I clicked on the app and the game worked. I hope I was of help to you and anyone that was on the same situation ^^
AH YES! Ok, so for those who have a problem with Steam.hdll thing, I tried putting steam_api.dll from other IGG games(I used Terraria and Binding of Isaac so other games would probably work) into my Dead Cells folder. Launch the game. A command application will open, press Enter. Summary

put steam_api.dll into your Dead Cells folder
launch the game and a command application will open as always
but instead of doing nothing with command app, press enter
wait for the game to open
if it doesn't, check Task Manager if it's processing, so keep waiting
Play the Game! Note: you need to press enter, because for me, when I didn't, I saw on my Task Manager that it was just on background process, but it wasn't opening. also: please upvote so the others with the same problem can see. :)
Well I downloaded a lot of Dead Cells from other sites to mess around so I could fix mine. The one that worked probably had another file+steam_api so it worked. Some had steam_api but had the black screen. I'll screenshot the files later in there then you might be able to fix yours.
I downloaded another game and copied its steam.hdll to the game folder and it worked (I didn't get an answer from the moderator, they prob didn't see mine)

I don't know why you're whinging when you're pirating a game for free. Plus, it's only early access. The new features are really good. It's always a win for those who supported the game. I've seen too many games on early access being abandoned by the developers. I just hope this doesn't happen to this one.
You cant do that but you can use your save in other versions. Right click the game and select properties and you will see Profile file, this is your saveand copy it after delete your old version game, install new version game and paste your save in game folder.

I had trouble with api-ms-win-core-heap-l2-1-0.dll. Took a lot of time to find that .dll, but it didn't fixed the issue. Whenever i start deadcells_dx.exe cmd window pops for a fraction of a second saying that there is a problem with loading directx.hdll

Easyer way to keep your saves. After downloading the rar file just extract it to the download folder and go into the earlyer update folder and CUT the SAVE and PROFILE folders and PASTE then into the new version folder

It works fine, until I leave the condemned souls thing for the second time, then it says "FATAL ERROR OUT OF MEMORY" and crashes, then I have to start ALL OVER again!

I just figured out that on the new version the save is located in C:...\Dead.Cells.Update.2017.06.06\Profile\IGGGAMES\Saves\user_0.dat . Now we just need to located the old save file and replace the new save with it

can you put the user_0.dat file into a haste bin? in a older version of the game I found the save folder but there was no user file or anything in there (im pretty lazy and don't want to lose all my progress) edit- found the 588650 file still no user_0.dat

also on this update im back to having fps drops making it pretty much unplayable. before,i fixed the fps drops by disabling any overlays in the smartsteamemu.ini but that doesnt work in this http://patch.is there a way to turn overlays off in this update?
Neither the incomplete one nor the watcher drop cells, as well as the watcher drops a tonic blueprint instead of a cursed sword blueprint. After beating the Watcher, going through the door to the Wharf just crashes me. Is this happening to anybody else?
After The Watcher (second boss) the game crashes - "Resource file not found 'music/DC_music5loop.ogg'" and a lot more info. Anyone can help? Or will i have to wait for the next update?
For those having FPS Issues, I fixed mine by downloading the newest Version of SSE, adding Dead Cells to it, and setting everything but Steam offline Mode to false in the Emulator Settings. Could be that you only gotta set 'Storage on Appdata' to false and 'Steam offline mode' to true but didn't test.

I would imagine so. It's worked for me on several other games. Find where the Saves are located and if they are anywhere but the folder you have it installed to then it will likely use that save on Steam version.

Well i got a fix MAYBE for those looking for it RIGHT NOW. So i had not enough time to test it but only could test it 5 Minutes, so far so good. So people are reporting that if they disconnect with their internet they have no lags/stutter camera problem. I tried that too BUT we cant start the game than because the difference is that we got the cracked game and didnt buyed it. So we need the internet connection to start the game(for w/e reason) but we need to turn it off somehow aswell(to fix the issue with the stutter). So i used my brain and i found the solution in the "SmartSteamEmu" data (u know the one with the cogwheel) just scroll a bit down and find "Offline = 0" and change the "0" to "1" (a lil bit above it even explains it!). Now it should be offline and since this is emulated i think it should fix it. Just try it out u wont lose anything i just need more time to test it to give 100% fix status. Ill edit this comment if i got new ideas in case this doesnt work. p.s.: dont grammarnazi me pls btw:in many smartsteamemu cracked games or w/e u would call them u can fix things in "SmartSteamEmu" textdata(the one with the cogwheel) EDIT: Solution is not working for me, i tried a few more configurations in the textdata but the stutter doesnt dissapear. uh no these games aren't really touching steam or else you would probably get yourself in trouble so if you want all those features you have to go all in and buy the game or you can deal with checking in every time it updates and get the new version
The previous version of the game ran fine and smooth, now its unplayable with massive screen lag. Tried to change all gfx settings, update drivers etc, but no help. :(
You arent the only one on that one, for me the game runs fine but every minute it hangs for a second and drops my inputs and tps me around. Also the 32bit launcher basically is a slideshow for me. Im not that surprised though since its early access and i hope future updates fix this issue.
Wow this game is really cool. I've been playing hollow knight lately and been craving a really cool castlevania type game with more loot choices. I saw a 13 minute video on youtube today of this game and thought I saw this here. For some reason most games with pixel art look terrible but this one is really cool. I hope they really nail it since it has tons of potential already.

I download the file normally but when I enter the game, a quick black screen appears saying "Fatal Error ... failed to load library steam.hdll" and nothing happens. I'm not the only one who's having this problem, what could it be? I have already installed vredist and all required files. Why? I can not see solution on the internet! o.O'
The thing is that on the game's Steam page nobody complains about fps and says that it runs very smoothly and yet this guy and me feel the lag so much that many fights seem simply unfair due to pretty much not being able to see what's going on half of the time. Many times in the area with the spikes I didn't know if the jump was safe or not, because at any time the game could do another fps drop and make me fall into the spike pit. I also just lost some fight against an elite enemy just because I didn't know what was actually going on, there was just so little time between the fps drops that I couldn't even grasp what's the situation at the moment.
Good to know im not the only one :) I tried messing arround with it mixing it with the old version and what not... i'm no expert but hey i hoped for the best without any progress... downloaded from other sources but still without a luck.... My question for you would be that on what OS are you running it and having the same problem like me ,Win7 or Win10 ?
Running it on Win 7. Pretty much all the "new" games are running totally fine for me, without having to lower any graphics options below "high". This game clearly has some serious optimization problems, though I am not an expert so I have no idea why some people don't have those crazy fps drops all the time. Somebody somewhere said that disabling Vsync in the Settings->Misc pretty much fixed the problem for him, but when I tried it myself it only made it far worse for me, so it seems like different people can have terrible fps for different reasons in this game.
hmmmm i have Win7 too.... and it doesn't work for me either... maybe a coincidence or not... anyway my solution was that i searched the web for another version cracked with/by the ALI213 (since the first version was with that method made and that worked perfectly) and guess what... it works flawlessly.

Of course. But I played the previous version of this when it was in closed beta, downloaded from here as well. And that worked smoothly without any problems what so ever. Thats why I am surprised that this is even more unstable than the Beta :D

Keep in mind that when doing "offline=0" the game will be saved in the codex folder, in public documents. If you later want to transport your save to another version of the game, you will need to find them in "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\CODEX\588650\remote"

Make sure you have an ISO Mounter, mount the original ISO file that the torrent came with, go to This PC, Right click the Dead Cells Drive under Devices and Drives, and click Open, then open the PLAZA folder and copy all the contents into your Dead Cells installation folder and it will work.
The PLAZA folder contains the crack you need so it doesn't open Steam.

There should be a .zip file with the name backup-date. Decompress the most recent in the save folder. Delete the steam_cloud.dat file. Enter the game and you have your last game

Then to install it, it's easy. First install to crack and launch it at least one time. Then go to the files of the game, search for Profile -> Valve -> Save and there normally would be the save file, named a thing like "experimental_slot.dat". Don't touch it for now. And just copy paste the new save file I provided you. After this, launch the game a second time and go check your save slots. If all went good u have two game files, the experimental one and the empty one. Finally, copy the empty file data over the experimental and now you can play from zero.

En gros tu lances le jeu une fois normal comme ça pour que ça créé les dossiers save et profile. Ensuite tu quittes le jeu, tu vas dans le dossier profile->Valve->Save et là normalement t'as un fichier "experimental_slot.dat" celui-là tu n'y touches pas pour l'instant. Mais c'est là que tu rajoutes, toujours dans le même fichier, un tout nouveau fichier de jeu vide, genre "user_0.dat" par exemple
Ensuite tu relance le jeu, et quand tu vas dans les save : tu disposés de deux save, l'experimental et la save totalement vide et là tu copy la vide dans l'experimental. Comme ça ne change pas le nom de "expérimental_slot.dat" le fichier ne sera pas changé à chaque lancement.
En espérant avoir été clair.

Any help would be much appreciated - seems like best solution would be if I could update my working skidrow copy, which I got from here also as I said, but that copy has a few issues also: for example, the high scores list populates daily with new scores, but I can never do the "daily challenge" because of a "problem connecting to server".

Before the bad seed update I actually managed to get 5 done with a pirated copy, but after that I couldn't anymore, so I was wondering if it's possible that someone managed to get to 10.

the plaza setup program, whenever I try to install the dlc from it it gives me "res.pak Hash sum mismatch! Required MD5: 637071336"
so I just grabbed the files form the plaza folder and pasted them in the game's folder myself (and yes the plaza setup still gives me the same message after that)

EDIT: Actually just paste the contents of Profile's "save" folder in to the Save folder in the new game.
For some reason 1.62 uses this folder instead of "remote" where it always is for PLAZA.

Add .exe file as a non-steam game.Then it will show up in the library as the name of the game.Btw you can change controller settings where you chose the type of controller that you'r using.

Download the base game and the dlc (plaza)
Install both but know where the main folders are installed
Then copy the contents of the dlc folder into the base one
Copy and replace
Then copy the crack from dlc folder into base game and you are done
If you have trouble with the way this place packaged the game download it from their torrent site like I did and follow the above instructions you would be fine.
I ask because I will soon change of computer and would prefer to not loose all my 72H of progress in the game.I also ask because even by following all instruction found on internet i didn’t found anything.

Everything was resolved. Just a quick note for the unlucky ones as me who are not so good in following instructions and got lost on the way:
You need to use that .iso file to instal the game and then you also need to right mouse button click that .iso file and select open in WinRar and here you have the actual PLAZA folder with all files that you will need to copy to replace files that you have already instaled.
Hope that it will help if you had same issue (being dumb) as me :)

588650 is the code for dead cells in the normal steam version, which is how I found it. So try searching for that in windows search if this file patch doesnt work.
Transfered my save file from a different provider, and the 17.12.2018 version.
All items and such seem to be intact.

IGG is just a sharing site, they watch for releases and uploads them. They don't do the actual crack work themselves.

I am not up to date but as i know if you download the game is already installed but compressed in a RAR file. You just have to extract it to your game folder and run the deadcells.exe.
And if you extract a setup file (as i said i am not up to date on this game cause i have better things to do then download the game again) it could be that your anti virus program is deleting it without telling you

Grandiose, gorgeous, and gratifying. Dead Cells is what might be the
best mix of roguelite and metroidvania game ever made. And this time,
it's okay to compare a game to Dark Souls.(I actually prefer Dead Cells much more than Dark Souls, as it gives you more time to assess a situation and adjust your gameplay to your enemy attack patterns. The game is fair, really.)
Well, I realize that some people will tell me that it's not exactly comparable to a Metroidvania though, as it's too linear for that.
Let's just say it does have some Metroidvania elements. (unlocking abilities which give you access to previously unreachable areas, mainly)

the save folder in v1 install is empty now, but the game still says continue, so that's not where it saves.
Update: Well I couldn't find a fix. Just used cheat engine to give me infinite cells. Only took about 2 hours to catch back up.
Make a backup of what's inside that folder. That's it

Other than that, it's the same rush through levels in order to challenge the boss you are currently having problems with.
I mean, it's fun. But if you play 3 hours in a row for a few days, it's gonna get old quite quickly.
The game is cheap as fuck and I bought it back when it was early acces.. Worth every penny.

If your antivirus is blocking the file, maybe because it's corrupted. In fact there's a trojan in steam_api.dll or steam.hdll. Just asking myself if he's bad, or not, for the computer. Thanks
Once you see the menu, choose the 2nd button from the top
Then choose the 4th one which is language.
There you choose the one that you want.
If I try Ryu's trick of "Start a new game, then go back to main menu, click play and then copy your old save and override everything. Now click continue and you should have your old save, worked for me multiple times.", after I click I continue I get an empty save
If I simply copy paste then open the game, I get a "Cannot access saved game" wrong version, sthg in those lines

To be more clear MrNoOne129, the version uploaded to IGG as of now is an Alpha branch build, these alpha branch builds are filled with content that is primarily tested for gameplay first, not flavor. Because of this the developers often don't bother translating these things, as its not the purpose of the Alpha builds. The Beta branch builds however move to a fuller translation. If someone would upload a Beta Branch Build the language bearer wouldn't be a problem, but as of now only a Alpha build is uploaded.

After that , you will need to get back to the rar file , and extract it again , and THEN try to run the game . This worked for me.
Once I figured out how to use the old data in the new version it says something like "Data is from an older version" and so it can't be used.
That's only what I'v found but idk ^^

P.S: You might to re-extract that dll file since I assume it got quarantined by whatever security software you are using.

Windows Defender was deleting my steam_api.dll file...
Since it was asking for steam.hdll , I thought that putting something that ended in that extension could work...
So I went to the files of "Cuphead" (I used this one IDK if it works with
other games) and after having it work(crack and everything) I copied
this 2 files:
steam_api.dll (something like 252 KB)
steam_emu.ini (3KB)
I know this is similar to the post you made but maybe it's the "emu" thing that was missing, so that's why it bugged to you.
And that's that. I clicked on the app and the game worked. I hope I was of help to you and anyone that was on the same situation ^^

Right click the game and select properties and you will see Profile file, this is your saveand copy it after delete your old version game, install new version game and paste your save in game folder.
the game may require a few redist to run, but this error doesnt correlate to it.
IGG is really nice to test a game before buying it but if you love really the game, support developers.

Ps: If i put the game on "background", like pressing the windows key, the textures come back, but after they disappear again.
So i had not enough time to test it but only could test it 5 Minutes, so far so good.
So people are reporting that if they disconnect with their internet they have no lags/stutter camera problem.
I tried that too BUT we cant start the game than because the difference is that we got the cracked game and didnt buyed it.
So we need the internet connection to start the game(for w/e reason) but we need to turn it off somehow aswell(to fix the issue with the stutter). So i used my brain and i found the solution in the "SmartSteamEmu" data (u know the one with the cogwheel) just scroll a bit down and find "Offline = 0" and change the "0" to "1" (a lil bit above it even explains it!).
Now it should be offline and since this is emulated i think it should fix it.
Just try it out u wont lose anything i just need more time to test it to give 100% fix status.
Ill edit this comment if i got new ideas in case this doesnt work.

Many times in the area with the spikes I didn't know if the jump was safe or not, because at any time the game could do another fps drop and make me fall into the spike pit.
I also just lost some fight against an elite enemy just because I didn't know what was actually going on, there was just so little time between the fps drops that I couldn't even grasp what's the situation at the moment.
My question for you would be that on what OS are you running it and having the same problem like me ,Win7 or Win10 ?
Pretty much all the "new" games are running totally fine for me, without having to lower any graphics options below "high".
This game clearly has some serious optimization problems, though I am not an expert so I have no idea why some people don't have those crazy fps drops all the time.
Somebody somewhere said that disabling Vsync in the
Settings->Misc pretty much fixed the problem for him, but when I tried it myself it only made it far worse for me, so it seems like different people can have terrible fps for different reasons in this game.
The version I got from this site 1 month ago didn't have this problem
And that worked smoothly without any problems what so ever.
Thats why I am surprised that this is even more unstable than the Beta :D
