Well I can play now but the other nwjs.exe just turns back on after sometime and then the game crashes but at least you could still play it for a couple of seconds before it crashes.
It appears that the moment you kill off that process, it will come back not only after a period of time but at set times as well - so there is no avoiding it. If you look at the debug.log, it appears the game is searching for a file. Unsure if that means the crack is bad or if temp files are never created. Ugh.
Hi, just thought I'd add that I tried using Process Explorer to suspend that particular process. By not killing it, it wouldn't pop up again, "solving" the problem. However, I found that after a set period of time, the game would crash again even if the only process running was the main one. So it seems that the actual game (for whatever reason - bad crack, etc) may be faulty. Shame, I was really looking forward to giving this game a go.
I found a way guys, download sequel from steam, then go to the steamapp folder and delete the sequel, after that just download the full cracked game there. Start it with steam then after you finish the prologue just go back to the menu if chapter 2 is not unlocked. I hope this will help you guys!
download the demo from steam->go steamlibrary->steamapps->common->elisa the inkeeper - prequel->delete nw.exe->take the cracked full game(the same nw.exe) and paste it in that folder->go back to steam client and open the game as the demo(will start the actual full game but without any crashes)
It crashes in act 1. the final line you could see is when the game says "Still busy cleaning she leaned on the bar which was still wet. the prince could see clearly through her shirt"
I've tried a variety of things: Updating whatever there is left to update, disabling internet, changing font, and any trick I could possibly think of. I even downloaded the release from another site. Nothing works.
Answer: When you start the game, also start Task Manager. Look inside and you should see TWO instances of "nwjs.exe" running. End the one that is at 0% CPU usage before hitting that point where it crashes but preferably before actually playing the game. It works.
