Whenever I boot up the game it says that it's not able to open a file called "Steamworks" and shows an error message. I cannot seem find a solution for this. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Windows virus & threat protection blocked the file "steam_api.dll". This happens on a lot of games. Just find the notification, click 'restore' and then 'allow'
For the people having the black screen with the white square in the center problem, go to the game folder and open Settings.txt, edit the first 2 lines to match your current screen resolution, 1 lines width and 2 line height.
Yes because you did what caused my game to be stuck too and saved in the middle of the mission DO NOT SAVE IN THE MIDDLE OF A MISSION OR IT WILL GET STUCK. This bug has been patched but we need IGG to upload the patch.

Such error often happens, and the solution is very simple. Just try to run your game .exe as administrator. To do so, right click on your game .exe, and click Run As Administrator. Cheers :))
