@For newbie: Don't forget crack before launching the game (otherwise you will get the "no license" error). By doing one of the following:
Method 1: before installing the game, check the following box:

NOTE: Use the desktop shortcut created by RUNE installer to play the game.
If the game won't start, and it is version 1.0 make sure you didn't deselect the "Create desktop shortcut'' button. The game only starts when using the desktop icon, not the game icon in the game folder, which is what I was doing wrong.
Thanks a lot for the last update ^^ you did it quickly ;-) edit 1: it's not ok actually... the game doesn't start... version 1.77 ok though... edit 2: yes finally now it works... i replace Abyss.stk and all PAK*.stk files from version 1.88 to 1.77 and it's ok... but i don't understand why new version doens't work...???
For this version, use https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7iQxpXTrqnSU3VqZGRpTVZZeDA modified launcher to get the game to run. Extract and overwrite. Use the 'new' launcher. This one has a secondary protection and is stubbed. SSE alone doesn't work anymore.

The only question is does this have any space ship to ship combat besides ground combat. The general description gives no hint in regards to that particular aspect. If so, may be worth the playthrough. Thanks for the patch .
Hello everyone I made a quick check and yup it seems crack was missing. I've patched it up, you need to extract and past all content of the extracted folder inside the game directory (where there's the .exe) launch the game via SSELauncher and double click on "StellarTactics". double click and SSE is on taskbar, click on SSE icon but it not show up, open task manager and it show running, im using win7 so i can see a small window when hover a mouse on SSE, inside is a white background with stellar tactics icon right ? pls help me

Yep, it works through SSEmu 1.4.1, at least starts normally, posting asap to let erryone know. get SmartSteamEmu there, registration may be required to download attached files http://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=62935 then just start SSElauncher from it's folder and drop "StellarTactics.exe" (not "launcher") into it's window, add appid "465490" in popped up settings window and save that, then start from SSElauncher as it would be tiny steam - voila, it just werks.
Thanks for uploading my request. You guys are great! As others stated, there seems to be an issue with the launcher. I've now downloaded and applied SmartSteamEmu 1.4.1 manually and it works just fine.
Can you give a quick run through how you did it I have the SmartSteamEmu 1.4.1,just unsure how to apply it,keep getting error on launch ? Any help very much appreciated.
