Can't play any of them I don't have a "disc". I didn't buy the game I got it cracked edition. Did you expect me to have 15$ to buy this game? No, cause my parents wont let me buy it even though I'm old enough to drive my bike.
The main game works perfectly fine but if i play Opposing Force or Blue shift i can't look around if try it my head moves directly back to it's original positon, can someone help me?
Change to widescreen 16:9 and you can get it to 1920 x 1080. You wont get it any higher. Only a select few played at anything over 1024 x 768 back when these games were released.
mostly because of the ads littleary everywhere even if you click anything randomly you can be sent to a very shady website giving you some very shady file
You have to go to your shortcut, and add -windowed as a command line argument into it, and then apply changes. I experienced the same issue, and fullscreen definitely doesn't work as intended on newer versions of Windows for some reason. Not sure why though.
i know it was 9 months ago but i wanna point out what you said
newer versions of Windows for some reason. Not sure why though. you see this game was created in 90's and im too lazy to exactly check but this should do, anyway, so the game and operating system will have to "speak" with eachother and the problem is that newer operating systems have other programming and such meaning that if game is old and operating system is new the system wont recognize the messages sent to it.
I have no idea how to fix these problems, so i thought i would come here for help. For half life, everything seems to work, the menu comes up and i can configure whatever i need, however when i start to play, it keeps me in the games resolution but crashes almost instantly afterwards, however the games sound is still active so i can hear everything from the train moving, to the speaker. There is still a tab open, but it is transparent, and i can see my desktop through it. Blue shift simply says 'wrong disc inserted. ' I have mounted the game, and the set up works . And for opposing force, it wont let me open at all, and notifys me with 'The version of Half-Life installed on this system is not the US ENGLISH LANGUAGE version. The US ENGLISH LANGUAGE version of Opposing Force is incompatible with other localized versions. Setup is unable to continue.'
Last time i downloaded hl with sierra entertainment i played it until we've got hostiles chapter where a ventilation shaft was closed and the game gone black and it said it needs a update which takes me to steam. This looks the same.
Whenever I select a difficulty on Half-Life, the game runs but it just shows a low resolution version of my desktop, I've tried changing resolutions and that didn't help. I'm on windows 10 64bit 1366x768 59hz Can someone help?
Bit of a late reply, but that glitch you are getting is because of the game forcing you in fullscreen. I've gotten this bug on my Windows 10 as well, but I have somehow managed to work around to this bug by changing game resolutions every time I pause the game. This works perfectly for me. Download the https://www.moddb.com/games/half-life/downloads/half-life-1-won-1110-patch, as it fixes up stuff, gives an updated version of Half-Life GOTY Edition (the one you are using) and allows you to go windowed mode. The patch also applies to the expansion packs Blue Shift, and Opposing Force. I recommend you to also https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1228-half-life-won-resolution-fov-mp3-patch/, which allows you to set a higher screen resolution than what Half-Life GOTY Edition usually restricts you to, and also fixes the MP3 soundtrack not playing at all, and more stuff. This patch is highly recommended in order to get almost the best HL gaming experience. If you are fine and don't want to install the patches, you can try this: You know the Half-Life shortcut you must have gotten on your desktop during installation? Apparently I've found out that you can go windowed mode without the patch by doing this: Right-click the Half-Life desktop shortcut, click Properties in the context menu that shows up. Once that's done, it will show you a properties window for the shortcut. Switch to the "Shortcut" tab. There will be a text field called "Target". DON'T MODIFY THE SHORTCUT LOCATION. You just need to add "-windowed" at the end of the shortcut location to run a command on hl.exe, saying to go windowed. This will give you the Sierra and Valve intros in a borderless window, then you don't need to go fullscreen again and experience the bug. But the experience will be much better with both of the patches installed.
Download on Mega is limited, in some countries seem to go as low as 500MB daily... I find Mega should just be abandoned since Google Drive is superior in every way. High speed same as Mega, no download limit at all... Can download straight up 30GB without issues.
mega is better google drive if your browser crashes or suddenly internet craps start all over in mega you can install mega sync and it will continue in case of error or crash
there's a http://HALFBLUESHIFT_1000_NOCD.zip in there. it contains bshift.exe. You need to find the location of the normal bshift.exe and swap it with the one from the ZIP file
1: What do you exactly mean by swap 2:i tried getting blueshift and its console out of the folder and replace it with that one but it didn't work it says cannot load hl_res.dll
When i try to install Opposing Force, it says "The version of Half-Life installed on this system is not the US ENGLISH LANGUAGE version. The US ENGLISH LANGUAGE version of Opposing Force is incompatible with other localized versions. Setup is unable to continue." Note: Blue Shift installed perfectly, but Opposing Force doesn't want to.
These 3 are really good and are working well in my Windows 7 32bit PC( with no video card), just don't forget to paste the crack for blue shift or u will see an please insert disk notification, Having fun here(even through the last boss of Half-Life is pretty darn ugly and scary so try not pee in your pants).
I played this game and beat all of them and I can tell you modern first person shooter or any kind of shooter doesnt have the style of what valve did. I can confidently assume that the first half life game is better than the second
Half-Life is a first-person shooter video game developed by Valve Corporation and published by Sierra Studios for Microsoft Windows in 1998. It was Valve's debut title and the first in the Half-Life series. Wikipedia
bonjour je suis un peut con du coup je ne sais pas ce qu'il faut faire une fois qu'ont a telecharger sur mega genre j'ouvre les archvies puis des que je clique sur setup sa me met Half life ... n'est pas telecarger ect que faire ? -MrClaime
Okay, thanks for the info... I really want to play Team Fortress(not TF2) because I have a low graphics(built in - 256mb VRAM) in my pc, and TF2 is 512mb VRAM... :/
The original tf is a mod of half life, so you can just download half life and then go to modb (i think, or some other modding website) and you'll find the mod there.
Right click the app and click properties then click Compability >> Compability Mode >> (Check the Box) 'Windows XP (Service Pack 3)'. Hope this work i think it gonna work
There is anyway to make Hal Life working on Win 10 ? Doesn't seems the game work . I heard the new Steam version does . Can you add this version on igg ?
Everytime i start install of any of these, it can't open some files. Half Life - valve.ico could not be opened. Blue shift - bsinstall.exe can't be be opened. I tried to open it, it started installing and "halflife.wad could not be opened'' etc. Please help! :(
dude you need to buy the game, copy steam.dll then paste it in the folder you installed it in. For me C:/Sierra/XXXX "XXXX" Is for the game you want blue shift etc.
Hmm.. doesn't seem to work. It gets to the main menu fine but when I start a new game it minimizes itself and the screen is stuck at a small resolution. The audio is still playing in the background and it can't pop up the actual game itself
A bit late, but maybe it helps. Just look in the "HOW TO INSTALL" text-data. H-L = 2335-40262-8334 Blue Shift = XAC7-TAB8-SYW9-NUM7-6875 Opposing Force = XAC7-TAB8-SYW9-NUM7-6875

Edit: turns out I can't read. it asked for the HL key, not the HL:OF key.

All you have to do is follow the instruction text file
"The version of Half-Life installed on this system is not the US ENGLISH LANGUAGE version.
The US ENGLISH LANGUAGE version of Opposing Force is incompatible with other localized versions. Setup is unable to continue."
Note: Blue Shift installed perfectly, but Opposing Force doesn't want to.
