Works on XP.
To edit gamepad config, use "XInput Plus".
Suggested:
LT (Horn) -> LStickButton
A (Accel) is OK
B (Brake) -> X
X (RearView) -> LB
LB (Weapon) -> RT (disable original RT)
RB (Hop/Drift) is OK.

Too many damn random obstacles in this game. I was expecting a classic Mario Kart experience but instead got a mess. Glad I got to try it first.
