always use loundness equalization, prevents shit like that. everything exact the same loundness. lifechanging if you spend much time on a computer. especially when watching movies, no more loud music and then whispering when speaking
also set windows to MONO audio, makes both ears hear the same
I have used it in the past and it's absolutely not recommended for everything.
The tool cannot determine where to equalize and where not to and as a result you get a monotonous level. It's definitely not recommended if you are consumer for curated stuff like music, or games, or movies, or shows, or whatever along those lines. For example, playing horror games with it will make it dumber.
It's often only good in cases where there's a bad sound design and you don't care about how the original media intended to play. (maybe like this game if it had bad sound design) Even youtube's Stable Sound is better because yt have the entire video waveform beforehand and even then it's not turned on by default.
