@For newbie: Don't forget crack before launching the game (otherwise you will get the "no license" error). By doing one of the following:
Method 1: before installing the game, check the following box:
Method 2: or after installing the game, open the iso file, copy everything in the "RUNE" folder, then paste them to where you installed the game, enjoy ;) (see tutorial image here if you still dont know: https://igg-games.com/how-885614657-to-install-game-and-update.html)
UE5 can be really good, IF the devs actually optimize their shit. There are quite a few games using UE5 that have devs that actually made sure their games were optimized. Satisfactory, Delta Force, Black Myth: Wukong, Everspace 2, Bodycam, The First Descendant, The Finals, Layers of Fear, Manor Lords, Palworld, Ready or Not, Remnant 2, Silent Hill 2 (2024), Still Wakes the Deep, Tekken 8, Talos Principle 2, and even more. Honestly, I blame the devs more than the engine, it's clearly possible to optimize your UE5 game but so many devs seem to either not care, or just figure "We will fix it later, after people give us their money" - which is total bullshit imo
I definitely would, yeah. I don't mind playing really old games. Heck I've been replaying KOTOR 2 recently. And like I said, I have vague memories of playing the original a long, long time ago
i always find old games lacking, its why i rarely go back to them lol. Only if its a favorite that stood up to me, the test of time, like diablo II for example.
some oldies age like fine wine and trying anything weird to the mixture can sometimes fucked up the original flavour d2r have pros and cons in my pov pros the visual details practically, some unique helm, shields and weapons textures looks nice being weared, something the original doesnt have cons the multiplayer feature has much more too many disconnects problems and there not much modding options compared to the original with median XL, project diablo 2, etc...
Pretty good remake, they did not betray the original in the name of modernization. The new lockpicking mini game is super ass though, tedious and boring. And they have also ruined the in-game economy intentionally, it's so much harder to make money now because they have implemented supply & demand mechanics (the more a camp has of some item, the less valuable it gets very quickly so you can't dump your loot at once). Apart from these, I'm very much enjoying it.
Edit: Even with Master lockpicking level, most lockpicks are impossibly hard to solve. Just download a mod from nexus that removes all locked chests and doors and don't spend in-game money and LP on training lockpicking.
They rephrased words from the Original, to not attack Religious groups most likely, and they put clothes on the female Prisoners to not sexual objectify them.So yes they did change things for "modernization". And i can already smell the comment of Bowie, telling me that theres no "modern audience" that they made that for :D
I don't really care if they have added a shirt texture to female characters. I'm not interested in polygon boobs. By modernization, I meant in terms of game design. They could have replaced the janky combat system, added fast travel, quest markers, so on and so forth. But they chose to stay faithful to the original in those aspects thankfully.
Honestly adding a couple k of ore nuggets may be required. You complete a 2 hour major main story quest, and they reward you with 50 nuggets. That is 1/4 price of a skill training. Armor upgrades go for 800 or more. Total clown economy 🤡
Holy shit, how is there already a trainer for this game on Wand? Good thing Wand Enhancer exists or else I wouldn't touch that shit with a 20 foot pole. Like, who the fuck restricts cheat usage for 2 hours per day for non pro users? That shit is asinine.
No? WeMod LLC was founded by two American guys and it's HQ is in Boston with a principal place of business in Miami. There isn't even any record of it being funded by any Chinese company
Never played the original, how's the remake? Just from looking at gameplay it gives me vibes of Tainted Grail/BG3. Looks pretty cool. What's everyone's opinion?
Visually it does look a lot like Tainted Grail which for me is a good thing. Haven't played it yet myself and I barely remember the original but from what I'm seeing it's good, worth the time of anyone who likes these types of games
I can't say much about the remake, because I just opened the game, checked if its working and turned it off (waiting 2-3 weeks for first patches, then i'm gonna play). But I can tell that you can choose difficulty options - normal is called 'Gothic'. And if it really is like gothic I'd say it's hard at the beginning and normal/easy later. If I had to compare it to TG i'd say original gothic was definitely harder than hard mode in TG
unless you dont care for the performance who is quite shitty, the random UE5 window crashes and the fact this is very loyal to the original which the gameplay can be a little odd then give it a try
So, keep in mind that performance is a little spotty right now. It doesn't make the game unplayable by any means but it's still spotty. Might want to wait for a performance patch or two
Honestly I don't think it's going to take that long, at least not in my personal experience. Like Is aid while performance is iffy right now, it's not so bad that it makes the game unplayable
Should be the same as the og.. With the same HORRIBLE clunky combat and controls..Even the OG one was hard to get into. Some people will like these games and its clunkyness. I rather play modded skyrim, which I do.
Never tried this series before, but for an older title you actually can enjoy the experience. A well made game. Glad it was remade for newer gen to appreciate the work done by former team.
Gothic series is probably my favorite RPG of all time so I am very glad to see it becoming more "accessible" to the majority of gamers through this remake. Gothic was developed with features and little things here and there that the vast majority of modern western RPGs lack. This series is what introduced me to "eurojank" games. RIP to Piranha Bytes studio (dev of the original games) which went bankrupt and disbanded in 2024...very talented minds and they had a lot of great ideas.
GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Ryzen 9 5950X and 64 GB of RAM and I had similiar problem with low fps but it was wrong setting in nvidia app. So what was that? There was set DLSS settings overwriten with some preset, so what I did was set all 3 settings of DLSS as aplication controlled and then set frame generator in game and now there is like 100-130 fps outside camps
yeah, i dont know how you have those issues, its running perfectly on my 5060ti 16gb, ryzen 7700x 16gb... no crashes or visual issues with everything set to max and vsync.
That's more or less the same I have except I have an AMD CPU. The only time I found stutters was during certain cutscenes like the opening cutscene for example, I don't remember what option I changed to fix it. It was either framegen or DLSS
elden ring has bigger map and better graphic imo (subjective) with more or less same size. And here a 2001 remake has similar size? are they choking .flac audio for 28 language? the environment just meh.
COMPLETELY different games on COMPLETELY different engines with COMPLETELY different work gone into them. You might as well be comparing apples to garlic
If it's with an actual Xbox controller then either add the game to steam as a non steam game and then enable steam input in the controller config section or use something like X360CE. If it's not an actual Xbox controller and it's something more generic then something like XOutput will do the trick
Sometimes games can struggle to detect a controller for one reason or another. The easiest ways to "fix" it is to either add the game to Steam as a Non-steam game or use a 3rd party application like X360CE. There are some actual fixes that can be tried so that it doesn't happen again, but it's way faster and easier just to do either of those, unless even those options don't work.
Guys, is any of you having trouble with multiple saves? To be precise the lack of it. I can save only 1 slot and I can not load the game right away after death. I have to go back to the main menu and go for "continue".
Try to unpack the files from the .rar archives again using 7zip. I tried to unpack it with windows build in unzip tool first and had the same problem. Windows didnT unpack the complete .iso file.
The game is very poorly optimized, running at around 60 FPS regardless of the settings, even with the frame rate cap removed on an RTX 4070 Ti. It's also worth mentioning that streamer Kiszak allegedly beat up a homeless man and fled to Romania.
That was the same issue I had with a 9070 XT. 60 fps flat. I wish I could be more help, but I fiddled with the settings for a while, and eventually was able to get 120 - 130 fps. I do know I set upscaling to 'quality', and the quality preset to 'Gothic'. I apologize I can't be more specific (because this was with the demo about a month ago) but I've forgotten exactly all the steps I took.
Point being, play with the settings some more, you should be getting at least 120 or more with your card.
-Thank you!
when i saw the gothic remake release
then when i saw it was made in UE5
devs also admit the game have crashing issues

no shit really?

thq nordic will go bankrupt if they use that garbage
there was games who got far a lot more terrain than gothic
2001 was on fire with the enhanced 3D stuff
With a few QoL improvement mods?

thats how most ue5 take to make them stable
The orcs are all pretty into you though, so long as you're waving your thick, long Ulu-Mulu about.
A well made game. Glad it was remade for newer gen to appreciate the work done by former team.

It's your typical UE5 slop: everything pre-baked, ghosting everywhere, blurriness, etc.
The game's lagging on an RX 9060 XT 16GB, R5 9600X, DDR5 6667MHz RAM with FSR4 and Frame Gen.
It's a shame. 40 FPS on a 2025 PC. Optimizing an Engine that badly should be a death sentence.
What do you recommend for an even more stable performance?
The game plays fine, but it seems that on certain occasions it stutters a bit.
just look at this gothic remake map

mostly rocks and water
Thanks
