I feel motion sickness after playing (I turned off the screen shake and enabled teleportation movement). I mean, I play tons of VR games, and I never knew that I even had motion sickness. This is one of the first games I've kind of experienced it with. I feel dizzy after looking at the screen. After a 1 hour game session, I have to stop.
I just feel the map navigation is clunky. The old game was designed like this due to hardware limitations. Now it's just an aesthetic choice, but to me, the unnecessary movement on the screen is a bit too much and out of sync between foreground and background, like terribly bad, ultra-cheap CRT. It induces motion sickness for me. I know they want to keep it original and differentiate from the competitors, but I really wish there were just a top-down map or that you could move freely in 3D.
Even though this game design allows you to occasionally find hidden chests by turning your orientation. But the background design makes me feel like my vision cannot focus on one point, and felt like a sea of blurred images. And maybe because of the stark color contrast, and maybe because the cloud is moving in a way that cannot get my vision focused. Or the background is out of sync twitchy between foreground and background. So it made me kind of feel like a car sick.
I've checked the comments on Steam. I find quite a few instances where people agree with me, if you played on a TV or a 40-plus inch big screen, there are more than just a few people reporting a dizzy feeling. But if you played this game on a smaller monitor, like a laptop, it does not seem too bad.
I play tons of VR games. I'm also have a lifetime premium account for Deovr and YouTube. There are tons of 3D videos that do not have stabilization and the world shakes like crazy right in front of your face. But I do not feel dizzy. It could be that the background and the foreground are shaking at the same frequency, so my head cancels it out, or it could be the color combination that affects a dizzying effect for this game, especially if the luminosity of a monitor is bright.
What I am saying is, this is not a single instance. At least a handful of people agree with me on Steam as well.
True, maybe you are right. Probably most people do not need to have one single focal point, and play it just fine. Personally, I don't know where to have my vision focus on the screen, focus on the front, I see back moving at a different rate, focus on the back, I see front moving at a different rate, plus the flashing stuff.
very casual game if you ask me once you learn the mechanics it becomes too easy and if you use certain crawlers its practically impossible to lose even against the red death
That's probably why they are marketing this as dungeon crawler instead of deck builder roguelike. With all the crazy strong permanent upgrades it heavily leans towards traditional RPG. That being said you can still turn off all the upgrades and play as Belmond Antonia like a truly manly man.
