Just to point out, this game is not like No mans sky, but a 3d Satisfactory

Not too sure if it was a good idea. The problem of 2d satisfactory-alike is the land constraint. However, if you are on 3D, you won't be constrained by land as much. You can build a layered conveyor belt. But in exchange, you will face other problems, such as not being able to easily align the building into a nicely fitted grid, due to the buildings being freely placed. Rebuilding the base becomes extraordinarily difficult because you can not just drag a square to multi-select an entire sector. And you usually can't just copy and paste the blueprint because it was in a 3D space.

Most importantly, this type of game is usually a very slow grind. Not too sure if I want to invest a lot of time and effort to learn how to play this game. Usually, your first save is going to be completely crap, and up to a certain point, you will want to start a new save and plan the layout with the knowledge of a much later stage. Else you have to constantly demolish the old base and rebuild from scratch to fulfill the requirements of the new technologies. But as I pointed out, this type of 3D game is not easy to mass delete and rebuild because it was on a 3D space. You can't just drag a square and copy-paste a test blueprint, It will become such an annoyance to constantly adjust things.. Worst thing yet, a balance update can completely break your old build. To a point, you'd better not continue with the existing save, but start a new game from the beginning, and then it becomes another grind. But again, maybe I'm just a bit too old and not as interested in learning new mechanisms as I used to be.

Satisfactory is 3D (I believe you wanted to say Factorio). This game looks like a Satisfactory clone, which might be right up my alley.

Definitely Satisfactory vibes just by the description and 3D images.
Would be useful to see some of the game mechanics transitioning into combat invasion mode first hand to see if it's worth sinking in endless hours into this.

Gotta say, progression is a bit slow, I'm not exactly sure what's causing bottle necks, but I'm already basically creating/progressing as fast as I can.

Haven't even gotten to the combat and I'm bored of waiting.

Definitely feels like it needs some tweaking needs to be done.

Try it with "The Last Caretaker" to see what performance you get.

How to solve the problem of save incompatibility between version 2.5 and earlier:

  1. Copy last save from AppData\Roaming\GSE Saves\1631270\remote\Saved\SaveGames<name> into Users\Public\Documents\Steam\RUNE\1631270\remote\saved\savegames<name>
  2. Open game version 2.5
  3. It will ask you to choose a new character - do it.
  4. Just save game.
  5. Take this file save and use here https://starrupture-utilities.com/ (Save File Converter v3.1)
  6. Wait, and download prepared json file
  7. Open this file in Notepad++ (This is important because the file is large and in other programs, including regular Notepad, it will take a long time to open (or not at all) and will work slowly).
! Important ! If your save file is larger than 18.2k KB, you'll need to re-enter the game on an older version (1.2 or 2.0) and delete the buildings (You will still have to modify your factories on version +2.0, so you can delete some of them right away.) to reduce the size of the save file, as the website won't be able to handle a larger file later. It might even be 19k KB, I'm not sure. I reduced the size from 23k to 18.2k, and it worked. 18.2k kb is minimum that works.

  1. Use Ctrl + F and find "allPlayersSaveData". Under this line you have number - ID. After you saved new character on version 2.5, you have second ID a little lower. Copy this first number and try search this time line under ID -> "survivalData". Replace the copied ID here, and replace the one that was here with the first one. So, simply - swap both.
  2. Save file, close and back on page. This time, upload this save.json file. Wait and download. Change name on you save name previously.
  3. Put into Users\Public\Documents\Steam\RUNE\1631270\remote\saved\savegames<name>. Start game.
The first version I downloaded was DODI. Then they stopped updating theirs, so I had to switch to IGGGAMESCOM, and I had the exact same problem. Only the other way around. It took me a while to figure out what to do. But I managed.

Normally, I'd say to delete the second character's data, but who knows if the change will happen again in the next update, so I'll have to revert it. But now the character already exists. So, all I have to do is upload the save to the website.

It's still lagging when building... is it a bug? Thanks anyway for the update.
I mean, you place a structure and it freezes for about 6 seconds (lag).

Good. Controllers have been a plague on PC gaming since cross-platform became a thing. Look at how it massacred the NMS UI.. Lowest common denominator in effect. How do you get ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRST to work similar to ABCDE? You don't. You use what both have in common. So ABCDE only. Which means hello scripted events/Quick-time's/Hold for x sec, Quick-menu's, 5 hotbar slots only, etc etc.

It depends on the developer. I've played some games with amazing gamepad control scheme, and some others where the developer doesn't how to deal with a gamepad.

But a factory builder really should just stick to KB&M.

Of course it varies, but in general cross-platform devs take the path of least resistance/lowest common denominator. As a M&KB exclusive gamer, I can't even count how many times the UI and Control Scheme have sucked. As an example, not even incorporating key re-binds or if re-binds exist, then not allowing to bind to mouse 4 & 5.

Controller support is on the roadmap displayed on the game's Steam store page, so soon it will.

I also seem to be facing some errors in the game, sometimes it crashes by itself, LEM station is useless, character is not leveling up, if you spend more than 10-20 hours on the game i recommend you buying it.
