NYAAAAA! This game is so my thing, sadly it's bugged? Here's a GT1030 gameplay for you all. I installed it three times and had no success. Apparently on wave 6 it gets locked after fighting the mini boss and you end up just waiting eternally for the dungeon boss? One time it worked tho, and the final boss appeared asap. So sad, but still gonna buy it on Steam when I can. So much precious, even if receiving hate because of the AI models. One of the friendliest Survivor games I'd say. And my mental doesn't really last that long on the genre, few titles out there actually get me hyped and addicted. Also, the protagonist sprite looks like Aqua from Konosuba! Anyways once I try the paid version I'll probably replace this with a clean vid if everything goes swell. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5RojVwHcO8
It seems like the developer put all of the budget on the opening MV and VAs instead of the actual game itself. Impressive, in a terrible way. The actual gameplay is somehow WORSE than the natural base of Vampire Survivors itself.
Nah, I think it's just friendlier and easier in a way instead of the actual tryhard VS system. Tbh, probably the easiest game in the genre I've played. They sacrificed difficulty for kawaiiness and some slop here and there. But honestly, AI has ruined everything since 2018 so no need to actually yap about a neverending drama. What matters is that the actual character models are created and polished well, compared to all them generic Eroges out there. And the voice acting blends in quite well with the precious.
I don't even care either way about the AI art too much, though it is obviously a very poor quality of AI art in the first place (people can do so much better with it nowadays).
Like I said, the problem is the gameplay itself, it's not even about just difficulty alone: You've got like 5-6 'different' weapons which are all pretty much just "throw projectile at nearest enemy in a straight line" variants. There are no 'accessory' slots, only weapons. The already simple (and disliked by me anyway) system of meta-currency upgrading your stats got mostly changed into... something just much more annoying - chance-based item drops which do the same. The game currently has an actual game-breaking bug which seems to like 90% of the times just make it impossible for you to progress the game at all. There are "Chants" which are... pretty much never explained how are they supposed to be different from normal weapons other than having 'charge' icons above your character.
Overall, the game just seems to be extremely 'unpolished' and like a direct downgrade to the already simple VS. The only 'advantage' this has is, like I said, the famous VAs with a very limited amount of lines and the 'Title screen/Opening song'.
Well, you're one to focus on the system and mechanics overall I guess. I've always been one to enjoy videogames because YOLO. If I don't like one or find it stressing in any way, I just move to another title tbh. I preety much play a lot of games, and try out every new one that comes to interest. I did notice the bug tho? Is it the one I've come across in my gameplay video? Because that sure frustrated me, every sixth wave I get blocked and the final dungeon Boss never appears. Asides this, I found the game to be fun but can agree to all your points mentioned which make sense. I'm the type of guy that plays games like if it was watching Anime, not into the science or catching on to everything while I understand the basics and having a good time or beating them. Been like that for me since childhood, don't find the need to rage over a game when developers do whatever they want. Just some days ago I went to play Gray Haven on Steam which worked preety well when I tried it, but after the recent update it won't go past the loading screen. Stays on intro screen for 30 minutes or so sadly. I talked to the Dev hoping for an answer, considering I have a i7 it should run with no issues. If I don't get a reply in a month, I'll just refund. But according to forums I'm not the only one facing that issue. Bugs and glitches are one of the main reasons to uninstall or give up after some updates I guess.
