I hate that all new AAA games are over 100gb nowadays... With that much space, I can store dozens of Indie games (that usually are even more fun to play than most AAA now).
A quick note for people interested in this remake who have also played the original.
This remake is extremely faithful to the original game; even the same voice‑over recordings are used. It's an admirable effort but essentially a preservation project. For newcomers, it's a great boon. For oldies like myself who explored every nook and cranny on the PS2, almost nothing will be new here.
Honestly, I don't see that as a downside. I'd much rather have an intensely faithful remake than an attempt to "modernize" the game and you know damn well Konami is more than willing and capable of pulling a stunt like that. Yeah I played the game a lot but I will happily play it again especially when it looks this good. I'm a simple gamer, I don't need a modernized control scheme as I have the original memorized to the point that any change would mess with my muscle memory. the original acting was damn near perfect so no need to mess with that either. Modernizing the graphics is more than enough of an excuse for me to play it again.
Sure. To each their own. I'm glad there are people who feel content with this remake, especially since an HD remaster of it already existed on PC since 2023.
It's a commendable 70$ texture pack, which for us, paying 0 dollars is a sweet deal. As a fan, I wish they'd put that effort into, I don't know, bringing MGS4 to life, perhaps? But at that point we'd be getting into pure hypotheticals.
Yup, exactly why I won't even download it. With such efforts on the graphic part they could also have improved on gameplay imo. I guess if you didn't play it on PS2 back then you can give a try.
Yeah, almost the same. Although when it comes to gameplay, they have implemented some modernized control scheme option, but nothing revolutionary.
They went for a very safe remake, and that begs the question why? I mean, people can play MGS 3 Snake Eater on PC which many would agree holds up pretty well, even graphically.
The only positive take on Delta is that Konami knew how incredible this game was, and they wanted to create a high quality remaster of it.
To some degree, I'll argue that it's impossible for Konami to have changed MGS3 significantly in any way and not receive incredible backlash for it. Counterpoint to my counterpoint, the fact that Konami is puppeting the corpse of Kojima's baby after his departure is already enough to piss some of us (me) off on its own, so I guess they could've just gone full-blast with an FF7 Remake approach anyway if they don't care about that. (Not that I don't like FF7 Remake/Rebirth, it'd just be funny for Konami of all companies to try something like that.)
My guess is that they're trying to build OG fan trust back up with faithful remasters before they start adding on to the series properly again. But we remember Metal Gear Survive, the first MGS game Konami tried to make after Kojima was kicked out...
Yeah, I see what you're saying. But I do believe there could've been a middle-ground between a pure iteration and a full-blast overhaul; something like Silent Hill 2 remake.
To me the SH2 remake showed that with all its flaws, there still remain sparks of a sublime vision somewhere deep within Konami. They just actively refuse to materialize it by outsourcing more projects to studios like Bloober 😅
But to iron-man Konami's decision, they sort of tried that with "Twin Snakes" and it didn't quite pan out for MGS1.
I don't know how much they really guided the process there for SH2 Remake as the publisher, so much of the credit for vision goes to Bloober Team itself - while like you said MGS3 Delta was developed directly in-house by Konami.
Honestly, there was a point after Kojima was fired that I was seriously contemplating whether or not Konami had started money-laundering for the yakuza or something, with how badly it was shooting itself in the foot at every opportunity. The firing itself, Silent Hills being axed as a result, MGS Survive, the MGS3 Pachinko machine that turned into this game...
Because of those things, I definitely think the way forward for Konami is scouting talented smaller companies and outsourcing to them. As well as me not believing they can do it anymore to begin with, there is no goodwill left in me and others who resent Konami, so even if they developed a good game totally in-house I wouldn't be back on their side. Meanwhile, I can still applaud Bloober Team for pulling SH2 Remake off against all odds, since they don't have that stink of infamy on them. So, it might not fix their public image, but it will certainly make them better-received games and thus more money at least.
Oh shit it's here. Surprising, I figured it would have Denuvo. Well time to jump back into what to me is the single best MGS game ever made and give my life, not for honor but for you! EDIT: So, steam reviews are complaining about bad performance, then I realized this is a UE5 game so...yeah it's probably shit performance right now, what a shame
I have downloaded this and beat the game twice without having the update installed. I've since installed the update and still am not having issues with the game. I am running a RTX 4070 and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D. When I started the game did crash 2 times mid gameplay but since it hasn't crashed once and I am uncertain as to why and why not. I do use a controller and play with new style but I doubt either of those change all to much.
It won't be. This is LITERALLY just a graphical overhaul, nothing else was changed. So in this case, yes better graphics are LITERALLY the only reason to play it. Well that and nostalgia
Unfortunately this crashes everytime after virtuous mission after talking to zero on radio. Blackscreen persist. New saves didnt help or configurating graphic setting to any direction (Higher-Lower-Windowed-Full screen-borderless). It seems game just needs new patch.
Time to beat says its 16 hours minimum. 20 hours if you are doing side missions. And ~30 hours if you're going for completion. I remember spending ~100 hours playing it on PS2. Good times.
One of the very few games I actually played multiple times on the PS2. To me it was the height of cinematic gaming and the peak of PS2 games at the time.
But more than that were the memories of that 'era' when I played the game. And this is what I love about memorable games. They also pin down the memories of the time.
Yup. Peak gaming on PS2 for me too and probably the most played game on that console as well.
I remember vividly it was 2 hours to my exam as a young lad and I was on my 4th playthrough trying to snipe those damn frogs riding on Eva's bike's sidecar 😄
In the future look for the yellow box that tells you whether the game will implement Denuvo (On steam) if it doesn't have a yellow box like the one you see on the image i provided, then chances are it will not have denuvo (Not always the case, but usually it is) You could still refund the game since you haven't even played it, if you bought it on steam.
I have this error when i try to launch the game exe. 'Direct x 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument'
I can run the game previously but suddenly today I can't run it and I check on the task manager saw that the game ended it by itself. No security quarantine is involved

I encountered a black screen issue in the game. Even after restarting from the beginning on patch v1.1.2, after the phone call following the bridge scene (before Cobra Unit mission), the screen went completely black and remained that way for an extended period. Is this a known bug?
-edit- reinstall game to v1.0.0 no black screen anymore!
hello, i downloaded and installed the game from this website using torrent link and then also downloaded the update from the below links. All i had to do to "install" the game was unzip the game and the game starting playing without the typical "installation process". And now I'm trying to install the update and its going to the typical installation process and its not finding the installed file showing me "Required data not found in current dir or wrong version!" what do i do?
you have pointed to the wrong path, please point to (inside) the "MGSDelta" folder. Also, take a screenshot of the installer (once you have filled in the full path), we can help you easier
did you download the base game from this site before? if so, then it cannot be deleted, and vice versa. because we always use the same crack in all versions
The bug occurs after the first mission, The Virtuous. You talk to Zero, and when you try to start the "second mission," it doesn't load and gets stuck on this screen forever.
I mean, they dared one time and they failed spectacularly. Hopefully they learned from that blunder and the only thing they will do to the MGS franchise moving forward is remake the old games.
lowkey, I wish they made the new style smoother like MGSV. I appreciate the camera tho, I hated the original for that. the game looks awesome but mechanics are imo too slow, well maybe cos I just recently finished MGSV.
Digital Deluxe Edition gives you 48 hour early access. As for your other question, it's a UE5 game, it's going to be unoptimized by default but that lack of optimization affects different machines differently. That's why there's so many people on steam with rigs similar and even better than your complaining over performance
That makes sense, honestly. Well, I've actually been fairly lucky with my system, I can play games like Marvel Spider-Man 1-2 without issues. But games like AC: Shadows and Inzoi put my system to the test. (more so with Inzoi, strangely)
Unfortunately cannot get this to run. Does not matter which .exe I start, I'll see the "Metal Gear Solid Setup" Screen for a moment and then it goes black and crashes
The first time you launch it it takes time to setup, mine did too. Just let it do its job. Or if it feels like it's taking too long, you can also close the game, then restart it, the second time will be faster.
Thank you for the quick answer! Oh I am not interfering with the program at all. It shows the Metal Gear Solid Delta screen (with Snake), on the bottom right the "Setup in Progress bar" tunrs around a few times and then it goes to a black Screen that crashes.
I'm stuck at the same screen with the "Setup in progress"... it shows up and closes almost immediately... can't past that.. I have a 7900GRE and two monitors. Tried to disconnect one monitor, reboot, try again, but no luck....
Follow some ways in the link i show below (https://steamcommunity.com/app/2417610/discussions/0/595158249006863016/), it seems the game needs time to compile shaders, the devs are stupid for not showing time/progress during this process, but instead just shows a black screen. If you have a slow hard drive, it might take longer. I'm using an NVME, it took a few minutes (honestly, I don't know how long it took, because the devs don't show progress), I waited 5 minutes, shut down the game, then restarted, it worked.
2 other friends with me have the same problem (both own the game), one of them is like me, using NVME, it works fine. The other guy uses SSD, he didn't have the patience to wait, so he refunded the game lol, he's waiting for the dev to release a patch and will play the crack then :))
Yes, i mean, you described it pretty accurately, because i had the exact same thing :D... on my side, i waited for about 5 minutes, then i Ctrl+F4 to close the game. Then i restarted the game, it worked.
Another one wait for patches and optimization, it runs like crap PS 5 pro, PC...anything it touches, so yeah moden gaming ...love it. but damn its a looker/ f great.

Nothing screams nostalgia like MGS series for me.
You could still refund the game since you haven't even played it, if you bought it on steam.
