@For newbie: Don't forget crack before launching the game (otherwise you will get the "no license" error). By doing one of the following:

  • Method 1: before installing the game, check the following box:
    Uploaded Image

  • Method 2: or after installing the game, open the iso file, copy everything in the "RUNE" folder, then paste them to where you installed the game, enjoy ;) (see tutorial image here if you still dont know: https://igg-games.com/how-885614657-to-install-game-and-update.html)

If you want to change the language in the game, navigate to the game folder. For example:
Tales of Graces f Remastered\Tales of Graces f Remastered_Data\Plugins\x86_64.

In the x86_64 folder, you will find a file named steam_emu.ini. Open the file, and you will see a line that says language=english.

To change the language, replace english with the desired language that is supported by the game. For example:
language=tchinese (繁體中文).

Ahh yes, Graces F... The game with the most tragic timeskip I've ever seen. It has a great group of young characters led by an inexperienced but brave leader, Asbel, who fills you with determination. Funny, wholesome and awkward interactions between party members abound, a story that is just beginning to take off, and a boss battle that feels incredibly satisfying. Then what happens?...

Several years later... WHY?! As solid of a game as it ended up being, I would have much preferred it continue where it was before the skip, and see how far that story can be taken. Yes, I wanted to see a classic kids saving the world fantasy RPG, but it was more adult-themed and military-influenced than I expected.

I've held this in for a very long time, it feels good to let it out. I guess there are so many classic RPG's out there that I can't expect them all to be what I want. It's just that this one has SUCH a great thing going at first, and it was connecting with me so strongly.

It felt like the rug was pulled out from under me. Oh well... It is still a very good game. Please enjoy it.

Go to Windows Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced Startup, and restart your computer.

After restarting, navigate to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Settings > Safe Mode.

In Safe Mode, you can edit saved files without requiring any permissions.

I guess you opened that file without "administrator" rights, maybe you are installing on an external hard drive?

The fix is easy, first open your Notepad with "Run as Administrator" (right click on notepad.exe). Then change the content, save it, it works perfectly.

This method is faster. If this method is not feasible, you can use the method I mentioned in my earlier comment; it’s generally applicable.

You won't regret it. From the word go, this game truly wanted you to care for its characters and the narratives they told. I daresay even some modern Tales games paled in comparison to this one.

The only two Tales Of games I ever played were Zesteria which I loved and Berseria which I'm ambiguous towards. But yeah I'l definitely give this one a go then

Please do. Like I said, you won't regret it. And if you like that, please consider giving Tales of Arise a try as well. If you missed that thrill of singing "Row row fight the power!" while toppling down an unjust dictatorship that Gurenn Lagann gave you, then you will love this game.
