Bought the game on release date (love the whole series, it was the natural choice for me) and now I come here and see that "Oh yeah, some people didn't just buy the game, it gets uploaded here, makes sense" And seeing all these people here with their 'pirate problems' gives me this weird sense of superiority... which is dumb, considering how often I'm the pirate here...
Anyway, the game is great and worth the money (though I think it still needs a decent amount of 'community suggested' patches), I recommend actually buying it, but you do you, guys. Cheers.
I just fixed the save problem on my computer. It's seem that's because Windows Security blocking steam_api64.dll in the game folder: Open Windows Security, select Virus & threat protection then Protection history. Find an item called Threat Blocked that have Affected items like this: Risk of Rain Returns\steam_api64.dll Choose Restore
Gameplay is fun, but since it's 2d it just feels impossible to traverse the map, you can't see around you and identify chest/POI's at all from a distance.
also feels like shit with only like 4 chests on each map. I prefer RoR2 by a long shot.
I confess, I gave up on the original because the characters were soo tiny, while the world was too big to traverse. But maybe that was some resolution/scaling/thingy setting problem on my end. So I always felt i was missing out.
Now with this reboot, maybe I can enjoy it for real.
I like the first one, our tastes are different. it's because I can't coop with friends or there's humor they start splitscreen but I don't know how to do modding. so don't blame me lah hahaha

install the game in your steam folder with the rest of your games for example:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common
