That's a usual ploy by some devs to try to defeat piracy. The thinking is "If you want the latest, updated version of a game then buy it!" It takes time for game updates, especially 0-day updates, to be cracked and tested against cracked games to make sure that they work before being released.
No that isnt the reason, the tutorial sucked ass and if (you will die) you die in the first mission then its basically gg as there is no way to leave early or even recover gear. Enemies were also so unbalanced, doesnt seem he addressed the issues well unfortunatly in the hotfix.
That's just it - The dev could have deliberately left design flaws in this game anticipating that the Scene or P2P groups would quickly crack this game and then just move onto the next game to crack that's "on their list". Afterwards, he or she could gradually introduce hotfixes or updates that would eventually restore his or her true design of the game at a later date when the groups would no longer be interested anymore with dealing with this game, thinking of it as a piece of shit not to be bothered with!
Most groups want to concentrate their energies on AAA games rather than to bother with the "bottom of the barrel" games. It only boosts their status within the Scene or P2P to crack only the best games ("Quality over quantity") although some lesser groups have been know to follow the opposite route to fame ("Quantity over quality"). After all, there are only so many AAA games that can be cracked due to supply and also tough DRM like Denuvo but many more mediocre and shit games that are available and protected by more easily defeated DRM out there!
Since the game got Negative reviews on release because of these flaws which definitelly made a LOT of people not buy the game when it was on Steam frontpage, I seriously doubt that this is worth it or that it is a thing alltogether. Seems like a tinfoil theory
Ever hear of the saying "Not all is as it seems"? Anyway, you are entitled to your opinion about this situation, as am I about mine. Unless there is some proof positive on paper, in a file or in a sound byte from the dev that indicates whether the situation is indeed one way or the other, each of us can only speculate and then arrive at our own respective conclusions about the situation!
What you said might be true with some developers, but there are a few examples that are straight up BAD... have you seem those games stuck with the "Overwhelmingly Negative" review state? Well not many games are capable of being THAT bad but still, bad games exist and it's not limited to being a bugfest, because there are SO many ways that can lead to a terrible experience besides bugs and glitches.
However, game being bad doesn't necessarily mean that's a way to "deal with scene groups", sometimes the devs are straight up incompetent.
10/10 space drug trading simulator. Do you need end game weapon? The ammo? The Permanent item unlockable? NEW CLASS? No worry its infinite as long you keep producing morphine and trade em to get more "medicine" to trade even more stuff. Very exciting. Ignore the bullshit enemy that can 1 shoot you
