You have to start the game in administrator mod ( right click on the icone of the game ) if it doesn't work do the same things again and if you want to play with friends don't forget to open Steam

If you triggered the "Anonymous" error (clicking on Join game without steam open), you must find your savefiles and delete the multiplayer ones. Your are given with a long number which is a user id(?) that you usually used to see in-game on the load game screen. Now, you just google "where is the forest save data" and there's an article in The Forest wiki about it so finding your data will be easy as you follow the instructions. Into The Forest folder, there'll be two folders: long number and '0'. Inspect both of them, long number first. Your savefiles should be there, check the modification date of the files to confirm them. Inspect '0', there's the folders "multiplayer" and "singleplayer". They're empty unless you then accepted your fate and started another game with the anonymous thingie. Delete the '0' folder. Start the game. You'll have your saves back.
Hey, when I opened the game, windows defender found a trojan virus called dynamer!rfn inside of steam_api64.dll in the game folder. It causes the game to crash.

Why it keeps crashing? im running as administrator, turned off the virus protection, tried opening the game like 50 times and can't get past the "ENDGAME" screen without the app crashing itself ...

i got the same problem and how do i get rid off the windows defender thinking that my trash can is infected i deleted the forest and then got this notification from defender that my trash can got infected by the virus and yes i made sure that this is the correct file and all. so what i mean is that because i deleted the forest in my trash it now appears to think that it got infected with a trojan dynamer!rfn
Issue with the steamfix, I'm having no issue creating a lobby with it and starting a game, but my friend can't join, nor can he even create a lobby. He gets an error saying can't create steam lobby. What's the fix for this?

Yes, the problem was that the windows defender antivirus detected the steam crack and stopped it, so you have to temporary disable it, extract, add exception to the folder and start your antivirus again.
The game crashes after the endnight logo, tried to run as administrator even tried to run the 32bit version as administrator and it still didn´t work. Specs: i5 3570, 16gb 1800 mhz ddr3, gt 730. If anyone has solution then please answer
I got a virus, to be specific its some trojan now my problem here is ive deleted the files not knowing it was a false positive (dont take me wrong but im suspicious), and after i deleted it, the warning is now stuck in my windows defender, should i be worried? and if not why?
windows defender will give a generic positive return because it cant find anything harmful, it just sees an unknown file so it assumes that it may be harmful and removes it, but the game will not work without the file.
oh god thank you, this worked for playing coop + mods, I was opening theforest32.exe in order to play online which doesn't support mods, but thanks to changing the number to 480 works the 64bits version with mods, thank you again!
Nice fix, but many of the files are unnecessary. You just need to copy steam_api.dll, steam_api64.dll and steam_appid.txt to the game's folder, then you need to add the game to Steam as a non-steam game, and start it from Steam. It will detect that you are playing a game called Spacewar and you will be able to play with your friends this way through Steam if they do the same. It works like just like if you copy the whole thing, but instead of relying on SmartSteamEmulator, it uses Steam directly.
As far as I know, if the game version matches, they just need to change the number in the appid.txt to 480, so steam will think that they are playing spacewar, but I never tested it.
I don't think you can do multiplayer on any cracked games since you will be detected by game admins and or 3rd party apps, its a bummer, but a small price to pay to play
After copying backup_nosteam files into the main directory, i keep getting try launching the game from steam whenever i try to join or host a game, any solution for multiplayer yet ?
you can play multiplayer on cracked games, by tricking steam servers to think you are playing a different game, steamworks crack will do in this case, it will show you are playing Spacewar

To get online multiplayer working you need to copy the contents of the Backup_NoSteam folder into the main game folder and overwrite. After that you need to go into steam_api.ini, steam_api64.ini and steam_appid.txt and change the AppId from 242760 to 480. After that you just open Steam, run the game, and multiplayer should work perfectly.

for playing in VR extract the "steam_api64.dll" from inside the folder : "Backup No steam" -->"Forest VR data" --> "plugin" and paste it on the "Backup No steam" folder, replacing the present "steam_api64.dll". launch it and enjoy whit steam VR

32 bit? How ancient is your computer? You really need to upgrade to the modern era. They don't use 32 bit architecture in computers anymore. Not for consumers.
