Pfffftt... Furry shit isn't convincing if their animalistic traits don't even come to the fore - which is the case here.

Really, it's Hayao Miyazaki logic being practised in this game's portrayal. Miyazaki once drew satirical manga about war, but used anthros to distance the thematic portrayal away from being too relatable, e.g. "it is a lot less upsetting if what look like animals happen to die instead of people that are obviously human".

isn't that how the initial funny animal fandom started? To this day it is still used to make difficult subjects more approachable (by making it not TOO relatable). Like the themes in MAUS, or even Bojack Horseman.

I don't like the RNG rolls for some of the Intermission activities in the first game though. Fuck those; I often spend the APs to just have the kids bond with each other. At least those have guaranteed net positive outcomes.

Are those RNG rolls in this sequel too? If so, fuck the devs for bad designs.

I have been playing this sequel, and I have to say that it is not entirely the same.

There are still RNG rolls for intermission activities, but success is guaranteed now; rather, the RNG rolls are for "high successes", in which less resources are used.

Damn.... I just have to cross my fingers that bonded kids would trigger their assist bonuses. :(

Oh wow, the kids don't get a break huh? So... canonically did any of the kids in the first game die?

Canonically, no. They used the Soul Cannon to win against the final boss, but instead of using one of them as sacrifice they spread the soul requirements between the twelve of them. So all of them gets to survived after firing the Soul Cannon.

Having seen the ending after playing the game, the dialogue suggests that the Taranis's own core - independently of its own heart - decided to expend itself instead of using any of the crew as ammunition
. How convenient.

Feels more logical, I would say (as logical as a giant fuck-you cannon that uses people as ammunition is). Whoever designed that soul-sucking cell that is connected to the Soul Cannon of the Taranis in the first game is an idiot who was not thinking out of the box.
