game takes forever to load once you get off the first island, literally took 10 minutes to load into the main gameworld

It's not bad but fuck, it turn my computer into a jet engine, I have no idea why my computer struggle to run a meh looking game like this one.

two times now my gog game has said new game and not load game and when I go
to where the saves should be even after saving and loading they aren't there
so I can't even back the saves up
