There's a reason why this sequel got released so quickly
I wouldn't really recommend this sequel, even for players who played the first game. This sequel is basically a reskin of the first game. It's almost like they rebranded most of the game. But, this sequel does feature a better, more interesting story in the beginning, a new map, and new characters.
The big problem is that they basically copied the entire technical and gameplay problems that the first game had. Even the main villain from the first game is carried over, but they are now an ally and the father of one of the characters. This person has a different name and a different motive.
Combat is still the same, even though they changed some aspects of it. There's are fewer equipment options, and the story gets dull throughout the middle of the game, but gets better later on. The game is way easier compared to the first game, the final boss is like a walk in the park.
Overall, I still enjoyed the sequel. The art style is amazing, as is the music, and the voice acting is relatively improved. But, it's hard to enjoy when these problems still exist from the first game.
If by any chance you have to deal with Anxiety, stress or Insomnia (or any other sleep problems) I highly recommend this game, especially in the evening. That shit helps me calm down in minutes and presents an interesting story while at it.

Nier: Automata in this game make my time in it more enjoyable.
