Gary Grigsby is to Hearts of Iron, what Axis and Allies is to Risk.
They may have similar concepts, but the difference in complexity and detail is vast.

aren't Grigsby’s games considered far more complex and strategic compared to paradox offerings? HoI is pretty casual when it comes to military strategy and sim gaming.
