It's the stupidity of these sorts of games where it's intended primarily for a straight male audience that wants to be playing as the female for the eyecandy on that front, but wants the female to be submissive and dominated during sex so they can project onto the male doing so. I've pretty much stopped playing these "fuck on defeat" type games; nothing wrong with a submissive feMC, but they're always the same crap. Make them actually dominate (or give the player the option to choose how the scenario plays out!) if they win, is that really so hard?
Until the time comes where there are large player bases that would like a female protagonist dominating males or anything related to that, it's much more profitable (clearly not here, but you know what I mean) to cater to guys who have no qualms confessing how horny they are.
There's actually a fairly large (in terms of hentai games) playerbase for that sort of thing. There's also a much larger ur-playerbase (of which some of the former also belong) that plays hentai games to experience the story of the character, and just enjoy the horny regardless of their personal predilections IRL.
If so, then there should be a wave instead of a spike already. In this current era there will be an increase I'm sure. Regardless of the size, demand has to be there for devs to take heed, which again is getting there.
Nah, because hentai games unlike regular games are made primarily for the creator's fetishes and desires, rather than for others. It's the one refreshing part of the hentai/porn games scene, honestly. Unfortunately, it also means that you tend to only see the same sorts of games over and over (god, the fucking number of cuck and on the other end of the spectrum harem games outta Japan....) because of that, generally.
It's kind of a given and taking the nature of the genre to begin with. It's easier to sell sex. Might as well rip off some IP that did absolutely well - bonus points if the game is easy to reproduce coughVampireSurvivorscough to make extra cash without very little effort.
