since 2 .iso files come with this, you need to mount them or whatever (ugh XD) otherwise when you try to play RE2, it'll be like "please insert Claire disk" or "please insert Leon disk"
I like this. A year old post, and it STILL holds true. The original is way better the the crap they try to pass as a remake. Same for RE3. These "remakes" are just cut up, chopped, and little bits of the originals, with just a little bit of them thrown in, so they can call them "remakes". Sadly, my PC won't play these older games anymore. If they want to make sales, they should just update THESE ONES, and release THEM. I'd buy these ones.
While I respect your opinion, I have to disagree. Personally, I really enjoy the remake and found it to be a lot better than the original. Let's face it, a lot of things from the original Resident Evil games just haven't aged well, from superficial things like the graphics and voice acting (though the second game really stepped up in that department), to the things that actually matter, like the gameplay. While I found the tank controls to be really fun after a while, pretty much every other aspect I just couldn't enjoy, nor did I find it scary. Meanwhile, I love the remake. It was not only fun to enjoy and didn't have the things that made the original annoying to me, but it genuinely terrified me. The first time Mr. X appeared, not only did I have a nightmare about him that night, marking the first time a video game gave me nightmares, but it took me well over a month to finally leave the safe room and make progress. Now, of course, everything I said here is subjective. You didn't enjoy the remake, while I didn't enjoy the original as much. And more power to you for finding joy in something I didn't. Even I'm willing to recognize the remake for it's faults, like how the game drastically loses it's fear factor once you leave the RPD, and my least favorite feature of any horror game, being "having all the important backstory stuff be left to reading notes".
The thing I dislike about the remakes is that they cut out way too much of the game, and left them as an afterthought of the originals. I loved having two separate story lines in part 2, and I liked how they timestamped events to play out in the second run. Like if Leon unlocked a door at 45 minutes in the first play though, then in the second, you were blocked out until 45 minutes into that run, as well as having totally separate bosses. It was like two different stories, that crossed paths with each other throughout the game. That's what I miss. And in part 3, after the first play through, Nemesis became nothing more than a two - three second nuisance, and easily avoidable. Plus, the game was only about 1/3 - 1/2 the original's playable areas and events. Basically, the new remakes were too short for me. I did enjoy them, a lot actually, just not seeing them as a remake, more as a new game all together. I'm glad you liked them though, and as you stated, the improvements are better than the originals, but what I was meaning is, that the originals was superior in content.
Ah, always nice to find someone civil online. I can't say much on 3 as I haven't played it, neither the remake nor the original. As for 2 though, I can see how that might be annoying to someone who (I assume) either grew up with the game or otherwise feels nostalgiac towards it. However, the way the original handled the B scenario, while cool in concept, would just be annoying to deal with in my opinion. Having to wait 45 minutes just for past me to open the door I need to progress sounds rather boring for me. And the picked up items staying gone would absolutely ruin me. Like, in my A run in the remake, I picked up every item I could see and at the end I only barely had enough ammo to beat Mr. X. If I also had to worry about not having the items for an entirely different playthrough, I'd lose my mind. I definitely think the remake should have done more to separate the A and B runs to make them actually possible to both happen, but that's not how I would enjoy it
Then you wouldn't have liked the original at all, but those things are what made me love them. And as for the A and B scenarios, the original has totally separate bosses for each run, so it actually seemed like they were running at the same time, not being reset. Example: If Leon killed a boss in A, how does Claire kill it in B, and in the exact same place that Leon did? That's what ruins it for me, and the shortness of the game. Also, the timestamps were what was a big challenge. It pushed you to do things quicker. Either way, R.E. has been one of my favorite series of all time, and looking forward to R.E.8: The Village. I've played every version of these games except Talos. I don't have the hand held system to play it, but I heard good things. Also, I am always civil, as long as the person I'm talking to is as well. We can disagree, and still like the subject. :)
