TLDR: It honestly feels like an "remaster" (read: moneygrab) of PCBS1 as they really just took the first game and changed/added a few relatively pointless things. Oh, and they removed quite a substantial amount of parts.
I'm guessing they'll stop adding content to PCBS1 so people "have to" buy PCBS2 to play essentially the same game.
Mind that I've only played the free build aspect.
Not much has changed since PCBS1.. Just a graphics upgrade, stickers and some limited workshop customization. A FEW new parts whereas quite a substantial amount of PCBS1 parts got removed.
Placement system is the same stiff brick. Watercooling hasn't really changed besides being able to apply your own water blocks and there being RAM waterblocks. A single waterblock in a 2- or 4-stick variant. It's just more point-and-click steps similar to putting the screws in. You're still stuck with incredibly limited placement options for reservoirs that often look out of place.
Old issues like being unable to easily scrap a PC build remain.
PCBS1 did have my PC run higher temps than this, so there might be some optimization improvements.
All in all not a fan, I'm glad I tried it before committing. (although I'm not giving epic another chance after it's drivers broke my ram).
The singleplayer have a lot of QoL improvements, the tutorials cover more of the game mechanics and are more detailed (covering things like overclocking and memory CAS), and the endgame It's less repetitive (in PCBS1 it was a lot of 'reach X score in 3dmark') now there are two different benchmarks (3dmark and Cinebench) and different kinds of issues, ranging from a faulty component to someone from the church asking you to put green coolant because its better for the lord... Then a 'Vampire' asking you for a build with no rgb turned on, water cooling a system, etc... But most important for the endgame is that you can make high end system and sold it for a big profit and to reach that point you all you do is buy systems with faulty components, fixing them and reselling them for a smaller profit.
I agree that it is more PCBS1 update v2.2 (or some number), but the game have improvements maybe not enough to call it V2, but sure enough to give it another play... specially if you haven't played the career mode in a while
was hoping for something different, a new feature or something, but after reading your comment, i guess i have to skip this one. I have PCBS1 in my library, even that was because epic was giving it for free in its weekly free games. probably just have to wait for epic to put PCBS2 in its weekly free games, yeah?
Pretty fun, crazy timing since it came out right when I'm building my new PC IRL and as a result indirectly helped me with planning/organizing my build
There's a few weird bugs, some gamebreaking/softlocks while others are balance breaking (e.g. having access to a 12th gen processor when the 9th gen hadn't even finished releasing, multi GPU builds with obvious case clipping problems, and a few others), but even pushing through these bugs it was satisfying to simulate what many of us have done -- optimizing a PC design using both hardware and software.
hi guys, is your esc key not working when playing this game? it's okay at the beginning of the game, but when playing the game for a long time, the esc key doesn't work
This game is fun but damn it frustrating that sometimes the tutorial soft lock the game. At the moment I'm stuck where I need to use the tablet to identify the issue with a PC but the tablet can't open and since the tuto doesn't let me do anything else I'm forced to close the game and retry endlessly or make an other task.
For those who click on "PCBS2" and think its fake, click on the start file to open the game, and yes it saves so you dont need to worry about your progress getting deleted.
Funny, still leading to Epic games store. I even bought the game and tryed to play, got stuck with bug in intro. asked for refund. anyway why the game still lead's to epic store?
Just FYI: I'm not sure if it's something with my computer, or something with the crack, but there are numerous rendering issues. Beginning the game, you are supposed to interact with a note, but even though I could find it by looking at the end of the counter until the UI said I could interact with it, I couldn't see the note. The floor in the back room is also literally missing, I see grass and am floating above it. In free build mode these issues are also there, I can't see things like monitors, cabinets, peripherals, etc.
I can't skip the day, once i clicked the door ,then will get stuck on loading screen . Don't know what happened, i try disable all power ups or restart the apps many times, but still can't pass the day.
I cannot change the resolution to the one my monitor is using (3440x1440)... only streched to 2560x1440 available. Any solutions? Is there anywhere a save data to edit or smthng?
But have a bug with motherboard water cooling that cannot display the CPU installation
Read on YT something about the game must be V 1.0.12.
This game is V1.00.6
This game makes me sad, but i'm always sad Oh nothing has changed then.
Now we must wait new update from IGG
Or maybe asking in REQUEST page?
