file seems way too large for what it is.

Steam says the game requires 2GB availible space so if anything the file that you download here is very small (583MB). After extracting it takes up 1.32GB. Seems fine to me looking at just the size of files.

steam says it needs 2gb so if anything the file on this website is very small. Anyway welcom to modern application engineering where noone optimises anything
