people hating the game before playing it --- I bought the game and finished it --- and now i understand why they made the game just to emphasize more the greatness of Ainz
Let's get one thing straight: I hated Clementine. She's an unrepentant evil beeyotch who deserved to die like a punk and have her carcass discarded like yesterday's garbage. When blood spurted out of every orifice on her body, I stood up and applauded her violently well-deserved death.
Having said that, this game itself seems incredibly well-polished. Yes it's a Symphony of the Night clone that rides on the coattails of Bloodstained, but it's an incredibly GOOD clone at that and deserved all the praise. If only they didn't make it into some kind of a fanfiction for a hated character who did not contribute anything to the plot other than having a hate sink greater than Ainz, I would've bought a legal copy of the game to support the creator.
The thing is ... what's the point of playing this character ? Like (in the anime at least ) she is really pointless and weak and now you are trying to tell me that in fact there was more about her but that the anime didn't wanted to show it ? Then It's kinda lame and both way.
Seriously a "fan" favorite ? Then im sorry but they have depressing taste and no goal in life.

She's Dead and he didn't take her corpse he even let her to the autorities like wtf .
So is the book better than the anime ? (kinda strange to make a game on the book when the popularity came from the anime but tbh that's fine with me just say it you know, cause let's be real a lot of anime amke shit variation from the original material for no reason saddly )
However, her corpse mysteriously disappeared from where it was held. In the Pure Pure Pleiades short cartoons, Clementine was revealed to be alive and actively trying to avoid Ainz at all costs. It isn't clear whether or not this was intended to be Canon.
Besides, this Game, as all Overlord Games, is most likly an AU and more like Fan Service, so we should take it all with a grain of salt (As for example in Mass for the Dead, another AU, she is actualy a good Person and called Saint Clementine) :)
If we consider all the rule 34 pictures of her, she has some fans.
As for popularity, a huge portion of the novel fans are unironically japanese because they can read the book while a significant portion of the fans of the anime would be from the english speaking countries so its not really fair to think that the popularity came from the anime. Its a huge popularity boost though.
It's an off-shoot of a gore-porn anime that centers around a character who already isn't going to contribute anything to what little plot this series pretends to have between all the splatter. The game is pointless.
