I've been looking through the chat for tutorials on how to install mods, but so far they aren't working. Can anyone help me? Each folder contains a content.pak file.
do anyone have the linux (debian) server file ? I am trying to make a headless debian server working without internet and so can't use the steamcmd, and I don't realy want to install a debian vm with all the steam shit just do download a single file

Hi! I was having same problems, but here I solved them. If you want some advice, i did like this (don't mind the extreme details): I downloaded files from here, and mods from forum, but nothing working, crashing after starting, fatal errors, etc. So, delete all, uninstall Starbound by Control Panel, and restart PC. After that, download the .rar from here again. Now do like this: 1 - Unzip the .rar Starbound you downloaded from IGG. Keep in mind the 'setup.exe' file and the folder named 'Plaza'. 2 - Execute the 'setup.exe' file to install with Plaza assistant, and create the shortcuts it suggests. 3 - After that don't open the game! First, right click the shortcut and open the file's folder. Inside that installation folder, jump one folder up to 'Starbound Bounty Hunter' folder, and see the 'Win 32' and 'Win 64' folders over there. 4 - Inside the 'Plaza' folder, copy the contents of 'Win 32' folder and paste into the 'Win 32' starbound installation folder. Do the same for 'Win 64' plaza folder, into 'Win 64' installation folder. 5 - Now, inside those starbound installation folders 'Win 32' and 'Win 64', create shortcuts of both 'starbound.exe' files to your desktop area. Right click each of the shortcuts, go to 'properties' and tab 'compatibility', check the box 'open as administrator'. 6 - Just in case, open your Antivirus configurations and add exceptions to ignore scaning all that installation folder 'Starbound Bounty Hunter'. Sometimes antivirus deletes the cracked "steam.dll" without we even noticing. After this it should be working without mods both 32 and 64 shortcuts files. With mods do like this: For example Frackin Universe Mod. Search Google for it, open the Wiki and/or Forum's Page, login into the forum's site to be able to use the big and gray download button over there. It will take you to another Github site page with 3 files: Pak, Zip and Zip. Just download the Pak one with +700mb. Put that Pak file right inside the 'Mod' folder which is into that installation folder 'Starbound Bounty Hunter'. Thats it pretty much, see if it helps, i did those steps here and solved for me.
Also, fatal errors often are related to something wrong on 'Mod' folder. The game tries to run the files on mod folder, and if there are wrong kinds of files over there, game can't start properly.
Also, for Fracking Universe Music mod, you can work around another way if the files on Github are only giving you ZIP files instead of PAK ones. I went Google for 'Fracking Universe Music Steam' and copied the steam page adress. Then pasted on one of those sites about steam download workshops. I often use 'Steam Workshop Downloader', and got the 'content.pak' and put it inside 'mod' folder. Working like a charm now :)
It will, i had some difficulty making it work at first time, but now it does without issues. Keep in mind you need to download the PAK file of +700mb from Chuckle Fish Forum / Github page, and put that PAK file inside the 'Mod' folder of starbound installation folder. Don't go for zip files and extractions, just put the PAK file inside Mod folder and should be working.
For example the Frackin Universe Mod, go for Wiki and/or Forum's Page, login to be able to download with the big gray button over there. Get the PAK file from Git Hub page and just put it inside the 'Mod' folder of installation folder 'Starbound Bounty Hunter'. That should make it work, pak files into 'mod' folder.
It probably should, no issues with hamachi and cracked games. Did that with other games like Terraria and no problem. My guess is that the problem is on configurating Hamachi conection.
There are links below the install instructions which you download separately if the game version you have isn't up to date(eg when you previously downloaded the game and an update came out)
You need to test it yourself, it fluctuates from pc to pc. Generaly at minimum req its 15 to 30 but mostly 25, if optimised with fps tricks(google it) even 60 or more. Have fun.

So player+universe always backed up will save, transfer. This is a huge deal in a game of this genre.

You can carry over saves from previous versions, but I read on the forum that the developer still suggests deleting the universe file if any major biome updates are released. I don't know if it's covered in the video, but fun fact: the universe files are shared between players, which means any changes to the universe one character made can be seen by other characters, you can also reset the planets you previously visited by simply deleting the universe file for that planet.

There is no way to change the language in the game, only mods can do that You can download the mods that change the language of the game on the Internet
It's very easy, only you go on the site where a large part of the mods are Nexusmods After going there you download the Mod and move it to the Mods folder that has within the Starbound directory
For anyone wondering: yeah, it does actually work with the newest Frackin Universe mod (v5.6.351 as of 19.7.2019) also unrelated, but i'm so happy to see some Novakid lore/ important story NPC in the game!

when i drop the folder into my mods folder, and try to launch the game, the window doesn't even open anymore. Starbound appears in the task manager, but disappears after a while too. Are you using windows 10?
downloading is impossible. megaup goes to 50kb/s and google drive fails the download after a while and goes to 20kb and ends as if the download is done. mega has a limit and the rest are 50kb/s. what to do
Is the file size less than 5 MB? Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe? If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad. Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.

God damnit these updates are hard to catch up to, especially with the delayed updating due to the enormous amount of games asked to be updated/uploaded each day.
Did you download an exe file? When opening the exe, did you get a rar file, or am I missing something? If the above is true, you downloaded an ad, make sure you get the correct file.
Game freezes after launching, seems to be a problem with it? no error messages or anything, and the music still plays in the background even though its not responding
mods work just extract them into the mod folder if the specific mod your downloading doesnt work or freezes the game orjust doesnt let the game not work its the mod itself that is the problem
Starbound MP servers do not have any authentication method, they work normally. This one does not work because what is bieng provided is not the correct version.
A note: To crack you need the steam api/steam api64.dll's (depending on your version) im not too sure where to find these, as i only got the one i needed a long while back and am not sure where to find the others.
Do saves transfer over from 1.3.2 to 1.3.3 without problems? I got 1.3.2 from here quite some time ago, still play it, with so many mods, but since all the mods I have say 1.3+ meaning it can be used in any 1.3 versions, but I'm just wondering if the saves/characters/ships can work too.

Kind of. The ads they put are a smart decision. They might have people buying copies of the game for each person that downloads them. This explains the ads.
You can I played with the fricking universe mod or whatever it was called. Highly recommend although unbalanced and buggy. But it adds another game so i think it's worth the cost
Cracked games don't work online, in most cases. This is one of the ones that doesn't work online. You might be able to get LAN multiplayer to work with a software like Hamachi or Tungle though. I don't know how to do that so you'll have to do some researching if you wanna try that.
No, you can play with cracked and legit game, this type of multi does not have any kind of protection, so the people with the gog version can play with the ones from steam.
i really must know. why is it that every game that tries to copy terraria runs like complete garbage? i just finished trying this game again and to say it runs at single digit frame rate would be an understatement. the system requirements up there need updating desperately as i more than meet the minimum OS: Windows XP or later Processor: Core 2 Duo Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: 256 MB graphics memory and directx 9.0c compatible gpu DirectX: Version 9.0c Network: Broadband Internet connection Storage: 3 GB available space and the game, once past the title screen, plummeted to pretty much NO frame rate at all. 100% unplayable. heck, the only time it DID get to a fram rate where i could at least move the mouse cursor and click things was when i hit escape and brought up the menu to exit the game. so, would someone mind providing an updated list of system requirements please? because it's painfully clear that the above minimum simply doesn't cut it at all anymore.
if this what you got, time to upgrade. You cant sell a computer w/ these specs. i'm guessing double what ever it says and maybe you can hit that 24 fps cinematic experience some people like so much.
If your drivers are fully updated then possibly you should try Windows 7 if you have older GPU (Graphics Card) because Win7 support WDDM for older GPUs such as Minecraft for instance but I heard you must have atleast OpenGL 1.4
all cracked games have an config file, look for it in your game folder... when you find it you can change the Lang after you hit save of the config file.. i know it works because done it to many games... ( PS note, i do lot of try before I buy on steam) I personally hate DRM, making a game myself an know it will be cracked when it hits steam so don't care, i know ppl are pore, myself i am making my games via welding funds so not using kick starter, the base of it free an dlc pay.... personally thinking of posting beta builds on here when dev is that done, so i know my stuff coding too.. still looking for closed beta testers anyone reading is free to message me in game dev regards...)

Hi guys, can anyone help me please? I've been downloading games from this site for a few months and this is the very first time that i've encountered this problem. Whenever I click on a download link, it just shows me the "Loading from IGGGAMES" circle that loops in cycle and it refreshes after a few seconds and just opens another one of those circles. Is this problem reoccurring for other people too? Can someone help me get past that maybe, please? (Edit) I should state, that i'm downloading over my phone then copying to pc. Has worked for every game I downloaded from here so far (30+ games so far) and all the game links from every game I try now, gives me the same problem.
You should open the link in your pc first and then paste it to your phone somehow, i have done this trick a lot because i usually download from my phone too

I was able to run the game but it apeared a Igg-games character in the start, not complaining but its really weird. Also does somebody knows how to pass a character from the V.1.2.2 to V. 1.3.2.

Alright, so there's this problem in my Starbound folders, my assets folder acts like the mod folder, making my user folder a mod. I don't like it being in my mods folder and I tried deleting it, but since it has the songs folder if I delete it I have no music for my instruments. I also tried taking out the song folder and placing it in my assets but it makes the song folder a mod and acts like they're not there. I moved the packed file from assets to my mods cause assets acted as a mod folder already but I decided to move it to the real folder, the mod folder works normally so I don't know what to make of this. If anyone can help me with this I'd be glad, thanks!

Hey there Ciel. I have a problem with starbound. I've downloaded the zip file and unpacked it but there are no folders (which other people say there are ( not even in the zipped version )) and no setup .exe. When I try to launch the Starbound.exe I get this error. Any ideas what went wrong?
Could someone tell me if it is possible to move player's files from a hacked version over to the bought version ? I'm planning to buy it soon and i did a lot of progress on the hacked version so i would like not to have to restart it all over again ...
Hey, if your hacked version is the same as the latest one on steam, you should be fine. If not, your characters have a slim chance of appearing on the menu.
When i unpacked it, it kept deleting a file called "unpacked" apparently. I fixed it by making winrar to ask for permission before deleting archives. game is working fine now!
the version is 1.2.4 but the current official version as of today 4/8/2017 is still 1.2.2 when you play this the version is something like 1.2.3b or something I think this is hacked or used cheat engines or such.
I use hamachi and use the ipv4 on the app but still cant play with friends (same thing happen with terraria I downloaded from this site) some tutorial how to play online more than "lol use hamachi" would be helpful. Thanks
He said he used Hamachi. Clearly, he knows what he is doing. Don't be a wad. By the way, OP, look up port forwarding. You might need to do that if Hamachi doesn't.
This game is cool but I actually like Stardew Valley better to be honest. It's a colorful, unique, down-to-earth experience that you can't get from games like these. Stardew Valley is beautiful in every way.
if you can portforward, you can use the starbound server executable and just make sure in the server config to allow anonymous connection (i dont really remember what to allow or there are nothing needed to allow at all)
I played the cracked 1.2.2 version of Starbound from IGG and found it to be very fun, I saved the game and closed it once I wanted to play something else. The next day when I came back to it, my character and everything saved on the game was deleted. I don't know if it's because their is no file to save to or something is wrong. For me the program starts, but it immediately kills USB audio, and the mouse seems to have been killed as well. There's a thread on their forums about this from a while back but no working solutions. Anyone ever manage to fix this?
Got it. Go to the game EXE folder. Move steam_api64.dll to somewhere safe. Rename "steam_api64.dll1" to "steam_api64.dll". Just remove the "1" after .dll. A guy named Halle, discovered this, all credits to he.
Does not work for me even with both vc redist installed (Something about "SteamInternal_ContextInit" that is unfindable) wich is related to steam_api64.dll.
After rename the "steam_api64.dll1" data to "steam_api64.dll" (just remove the 1 from the data type) i can start the game. I think its the same problem with the 32 bit type

A friend of mine has all the following files missing : Glew32.dll zlib.dll SDL2.dll and steam_api64.dll. I was told to make it download some visual C++ package but he told me that the download is impossible due to an older version of the package on the computer. Anyone knows how to fix that ?
if these doesn't work you can download from google, and then place these files where the .exe is, in this case "starbound.exe" just place these files in the same folder, works with all games.
I'm pretty sure this one won't need to crack (I haven't instaled yet), but on 99.9% of pirate games like this when you have to crack, just install the game normally, then search for a folder named "Crack" and replace all of the stuff in there in the folder where the game is. Some games come with ISO images, most of the times the folder Crack is inside the iso (Iso is just another type of folder, in Windows 10 you can open it without any programs like daemon tools or others)

You may be missing the visual studio runtime redistributables. Putting only one DLL on the folder won't really solve it, as it expects to find the whole thing installed. Use Hamachi, Tunngle or RomStation. Then start starboun_server, start Starbound, go multi and write your virtual IP. Your friend connect to Tunngle or, he go multi and write the IP.
keep downloading whatever shows you that you don't have like VRUNTIME140.dll from dll files andput them you the game http://file.it may happen multiple times but with different dlls

you'll have to download again, and when it's fully installed, transfer the mods you have and player files to the new folder. Mods: \Starbound folder(whatever you named it)\mods Player files: \Starbound folder(whatever you named it)\storage\player\
Like, Steam compatible...? If that's what you meant, then no. You can connect to servers perfectly, but you can't use the steam functions like steam workshop and such.
For anyone having problems getting the error MSVCP140.dll or VCRUNETIME140.dll:
go into the folder you extracted the game, then _CommonRedist
Go into directX and run the setup file
Go back into _CommonRedist and now into vcredist and then 2015
a)if you have 64 bit operating system install vc_redist.x64.exe and
vcredist_x64.exe
b) If you have 32 bit operating system install the x86 versionof those files
Did you download the latest version? if so, you should be able to run it without modifying anything. However, this message seems to indicate you're missing the VC Redist runtimes, so try to download that.
Please try uninstalling and then reinstalling each of them. From doing a bit of research, it seems the update KB2999226 might help (it may be a better approach to just make sure your OS is up to date.

really wanted this game to work. i buyed in steam before but when i play it, it doesnt shows the game. just no error message but can't play it.. tryed the cracked one. still same..
Does starbound have a DRM now? Why do we have to unpack ISO files and all of that? The cracked version has a lot of bugs, as well has crashing very easily.
As far as I know, it always had DRM. There are a lot of good disc image mounting software out there so it isn't really an issue. Either way, the newest version (1.0.2) isn't in ISO form, just unpack and play. Further, it has been very stable and memory consumption went down a lot in comparison to previous versions.
More than likely a false positive. DRM circumvention requires memory injection and other methods, which viruses also tend to use. Since AV softwares analyze patterns rather than code, the modified files needed to run the game are flagged.
Your AV most likely removed and/or quarantined the necessary files. If you can change the configurations of the software, add the directory where you install games as an exception (so it won't be actively or passively scanned) and then try to reinstall Starbound.
I confirmed that LAN works. WAN play though is another matter entirely. Maybe through something like Tuungle or Hamachi it might be possible outside of one's local network, but I wouldn't know (since the only other option is Steam play).
Im just wondering, but if I wanna play on a server, it can only be lan, right? Has anyone tried it yet? Oh, and also, is anyone else having problems with putting it in fullscreen, or just me? (When I check the fullscreen box, and click accept it does nothing ;-;)
Nope I joined Multiplayer server just fine without any problems, or you could create a server and port forward it if you and your friends want to play privately

When i try to play lan and open the server first it says in the game could not acquire lock for universe directory. and when i try to open the game on single player first then open the server it says the same "could not acquire lock for universe directory. what do i do with the universe directory also when i open the server first it says listening for incoming tcp connections at 0.0.0.0.21025 what do i do here. Also I am running the 64 bit version

(mine is Winrar :D) *setup Starbound to a specified folder (don't forget to include setup.bin). *After completion, go to the win32(or if win64) in crack folder, inside the win32, copy the two steam_api and copy also the two http://steam.wow. *Go to your starbound folder, find win32(or if win64), and and paste your copied file, REPLACE IT. *Be sure your AV is off (or it will steal your Steam.dll) and launch it in admin (right click in starbound app.). *enjoy!
i dont have iso file but it has win32 and win 64 and all of the files. but i tryed to running it, and api-ms-win-crt-runtime-|1-1-0.dll error message showed up.
It's your Visual C++ Redistributable for visual studio. Maybe it's outdated? you can update it by: Go to Start - Control Panel - Windows Update Check for updates Install all available updates. Searched for ideas, there was a "FPS Boost" that removed backgrounds and parallax effects, but it's been removed from Chucklefish's website... This most likely means Windows is blocking some files needed by Starbound to launch the server. If you installed it on the default directory, please install elsewhere and make sure to enable admin rights to the installer and folders.

It's a cracked game, IT'S PIRATED. crack games tend to have these files to run the program. You should know this by now considering you're downloading in a game site full of free games.
steamapi.dll virus detections are always trigger false positives because of the methods used to circumvent DRM. Besides, IGG would not upload a virus to his own site.

Be sure you disable your AV, ALL OF IT. it will steal your steamapi.dll, i always get an error like that because my AV always stealing my steamapi.dll. check your win32 folder(in your starbound) and find steamapi.dll, if you didn't find it then it stole it from AV. go to crack again and copy those steam files and paste it AGAIN. (then Disable your AV)

Ok, first make sure your GPU's drivers are up to date as that is the usual cause. Next try updating directX if you haven't already. Already did when it was in early development. Still have to crack it to play single player without jumping through a bunch of hoops, though. Steam is trash. Wish the devs would've gone with GOG instead.

No it won't. If your antivirus detects any viruses, they are false positives due to the crack for the game. (if there's no crack, it won't detect any viruses)
You have stable and experimental(nightly) build,,, Nightly is the most recent and has a lot of bugs, etc... as for stable that one is older but almost bug free.. I hope this helps
The game downloaded fine, i got it unpacked from the .rar file, but now when i try to use the starbound.exe my computer starts rejecting random things and my mouse is blinking and being glitchy, and i am forced to log off or restart my computer. Whenever you move the files from rar a popup will say "would you like to save the changes?" say no to that cause it saves the modifications to the rar(but not to the file you moved)
Yes you can, use hamachi, you can use the Starboundserver.exe but i recommend you to use hamachi because that server.exe is good for LAN and bad connection for long distance multiplayer server.
What I would like to know is how do you setup, then get a friend to join said server once you've activates the starbound server.exe? Im still confused on this point.

ik this is 7month ago post but some1 else might having this problem so im leaving this here.
I am trying to make a headless debian server working without internet and so can't use the steamcmd, and I don't realy want to install a debian vm with all the steam shit just do download a single file
just kiding, you can play online as long as the server don't check the validity of the steam account (server side) I have the game on steam and played befor, both work multi on ip, also, not actualy a cracked game, just CTRL+C CTRL+V the game from steam and it work so as long as you don't hit the steam connect everything work
If you want some advice, i did like this (don't mind the extreme details):
I downloaded files from here, and mods from forum, but nothing working, crashing after starting, fatal errors, etc.
So, delete all, uninstall Starbound by Control Panel, and restart PC.
After that, download the .rar from here again.
Now do like this:
1 - Unzip the .rar Starbound you downloaded from IGG.
Keep in mind the 'setup.exe' file and the folder named 'Plaza'.
2 - Execute the 'setup.exe' file to install with Plaza assistant, and create the shortcuts it suggests.
3 - After that don't open the game! First, right click the shortcut and open the file's folder.
Inside that installation folder, jump one folder up to 'Starbound Bounty Hunter' folder, and see the 'Win 32' and 'Win 64' folders over there.
4 - Inside the 'Plaza' folder, copy the contents of 'Win 32' folder and paste into the 'Win 32' starbound installation folder. Do the same for 'Win 64' plaza folder, into 'Win 64' installation folder.
5 - Now, inside those starbound installation folders 'Win 32' and 'Win 64', create shortcuts of both 'starbound.exe' files to your desktop area.
Right click each of the shortcuts, go to 'properties' and tab 'compatibility', check the box 'open as administrator'.
6 - Just in case, open your Antivirus configurations and add exceptions to ignore scaning all that installation folder 'Starbound Bounty Hunter'.
Sometimes antivirus deletes the cracked "steam.dll" without we even noticing.
After this it should be working without mods both 32 and 64 shortcuts files.
With mods do like this:
For example Frackin Universe Mod.
Search Google for it, open the Wiki and/or Forum's Page, login into the forum's site to be able to use the big and gray download button over there.
It will take you to another Github site page with 3 files: Pak, Zip and Zip. Just download the Pak one with +700mb.
Put that Pak file right inside the 'Mod' folder which is into that installation folder 'Starbound Bounty Hunter'.
Thats it pretty much, see if it helps, i did those steps here and solved for me.
I went Google for 'Fracking Universe Music Steam' and copied the steam page adress. Then pasted on one of those sites about steam download workshops.
I often use 'Steam Workshop Downloader', and got the 'content.pak' and put it inside 'mod' folder. Working like a charm now :)
Keep in mind you need to download the PAK file of +700mb from Chuckle Fish Forum / Github page, and put that PAK file inside the 'Mod' folder of starbound installation folder.
Don't go for zip files and extractions, just put the PAK file inside Mod folder and should be working.
Get the PAK file from Git Hub page and just put it inside the 'Mod' folder of installation folder 'Starbound Bounty Hunter'.
That should make it work, pak files into 'mod' folder.
Did that with other games like Terraria and no problem.
My guess is that the problem is on configurating Hamachi conection.
Free hamachi can hold up to five connections, and there are a lot of videos out there on how to make that work.

Answer is yes, and the universe too which only saves visited worlds and continues to produce new ones as you explore. So player+universe always backed up will save, transfer. This is a huge deal in a game of this genre.

You might be able to get LAN multiplayer to work with a software like Hamachi or Tungle though. I don't know how to do that so you'll have to do some researching if you wanna try that.

i just finished trying this game again and to say it runs at single digit frame rate would be an understatement. the system requirements up there need updating desperately as i more than meet the minimum

i'm guessing double what ever it says and maybe you can hit that 24 fps cinematic experience some people like so much.
