Okay, so I'm responsible for this. Yep. I talked to the localizer and was able to get the game brought here. Yes, I also feel that the game works well without the adult content. Having finished the adult version several times, I noticed just how well made the game was. It is not "dogshit" as far as the play controls, C. This is probably one of the best handled games I've ever played in the genre. That's why I was so eager to have it brought to the west. It is a classic game, but there's a lot of love put into it. The third boss is actually reminiscent of one of the final bosses from the original Clock Tower. This version also adds the farm and the true final stage, which some of you probably didn't play because he added them recently. The game wasn't quite finished at first release.

I hope you guys enjoy the game and yes, with the DLC that makes it about $20 I guess which you can take or leave. The game doesn't necessarily need the adult content to sell and I definitely think it stands out as a worthwhile action platformer. It's great that the game can be offered as a light version for people who don't want the adult content, but still may like the game and it's aesthetics as a whole.

Because this is one of the few cases where the game shines without the adult content. It can work well without it and manages to perform as a pretty straightforward action/platformer. I'm actually glad they did this.

Skipping over the statement of your involvement of getting it to the West, description, and quality I'll have to press X to Doubt on the unimportance of the naughty bits as far as immersion goes. Though it is agreed that it doesn't carry much for the storyline of the game, the way the character is created, the way the game is formulated, and the fact that animating even on a dot bit form can be a pain and takes time to get it just right says otherwise. Doing animation in that style takes a lot of dedication which the price of the DLC is over two times that of the basic game (330¥ for lite, 880¥ for just the DLC). If you really are an ally for these developers, downplaying that it's not necessary to enjoy the complete hard work of these developers is kind of a blow to them...

Furthermore, what supporter doesn't chew out a place giving out the game for free thus not contributing to those hard workers? It just doesn't add up...

Daily reminder that the ability for a game to be pirated (and played in its intended form that way, without any special restrictions) is either neutral or even positive for the success and earnings of the game's creators.

Don't feel like going more in-depth into why is that the case, but that's the type of knowledge I assume is possessed by 'that kind of supporter'.

Because the only sexual scenes encountered in the game are in the form of death. By switching animations to a normal death animation, that destroys all necessary use of the sex scenes. There are no scenes in the game that do not occur if the player has not been killed. They're Game Over screens, essentially. So by simply replacing that, we lose nothing. The game is still a very frightening and difficult horror themed action platformer, with death scenes that were kept as with the adult version. It doesn't need the adult content to sell. It always felt like a bonus or an addon.

Also, you must generally not know much about the gameplay eroge community. In some games, the adult content was always a plus - it never was the full reason for playing the game. However, games like this also get away with more things than non-adult games. Hence why a lot of gamers who are there for the gameplay play them. They won't be woke or have some agenda. They won't be censored in terms of other content, like gore or just revealing attire.

In addition, none of the enemy characters looks sexually suggestive. Keep that in mind. There are no monsters or bosses walking around with large sex organs or displayed sex organs at all. Uu proves that they added the sex content as a bonus, but they totally made this game legit.

It was never a question on the legitimacy of the game without the "DLC". More on the fact that it was part of the plan within the creation of the game, not an afterthought. Not every H-game have massive enemies with their tackle box just dragging on the ground, generally being an absolute fire hazard with all the sparks it's making, prepped and ready to snu-snu the next buxom protagonist hopping around an obviously unsafe area. Some are simply terrifying, leading to heinous when they do decide to shag before eating the body, and not in a good way. From what the description says, "this game is centered on themes of masochistic tendencies" and putting emphasis on the "ends" she will meet once she runs out of energy. And, since the game isn't putting emphasis on the ryona-like aspects to show the masochism (like Strip Fighter for example), it's relying on the brutal sexual nature of the enemies to show this point. So, unless the game features numerous ways the girl could die a la Mortal Kombat, it was always meant to be a sex scene before losing the game.

In the end, I'm sure that it can be played straight, but to say that it isn't really necessary can't possibly be what the developers wanted initially. There's just too many implications. The lite version is the afterthought.

Yes, I'm serious. If you don't like this kind of game, fine. But it is definitely a respected classic in this genre.

This is the “light version".

Totally could have fooled me with that sprite work. But hey, only 880¥/$7.79 for the "DLC".

Everything in it is hand sprited, by just a three person dev team. It made sense to remove the adult content as some of it wouldn't get past steam anyway.

Eeeh? They definitely could, but it would be age locked which could effect sales. If the lack of sales is the decision why they did what they did, that would be understandable. However games like Koikatsu and House Party are available to purchase through Steam, so it's not like it is impossible.

Also, Koikatsu had it's entire storyline removed because of content that Steam would not allow. Please keep in mind that MangaGamer cannot get them to sell any of the Rance titles, they have tried. Steam really draws the line at rape, which occurs a lot in the unedited version of this game.

Uu's intention was to make it edited. This was a developer decision, since the company that got in touch with them released both Tower Of Succubus and Castle In The Clouds unedited. I was the one who talked to them about licensing this. It has nothing to do with the publisher. This is Japan. Why? I dunno. You'll have to ask the devs.

Explain "rubbish dogshit?"

This is one of the most competent adult games I've played and has the merit of an actual game. Nothing here is designed badly and the enemies and bosses can actually give you a run for your money. It's actually difficult, there's real challenge to it. Unless you don't like classic games, I recommend you give it a try.

What did you not like about it? It's easy to troll, but for a person who has played this game four or five different times with the additions and has been gaming since 1989 on the classic consoles, I was really quite impressed. Is it short? Yes. But it's a lot of fun and it provides a fair challenge that reminded me of the games of my childhood.
