they indeed using a mobile port, causing lots of glitches and bugs from that port to appear on Definitive Edition, along with ugly character models, that why i play pirated version (mods are incoming and they fixed lots of issues unlike Rockstar/GSG) or original with mods instead of $60 with bugs.
if anybody is having trouble running uninstall rockstar launcher but if you have any games on there there is an option to say dont uninstall games once done that run launcher in the gta Definitive edition the file is located in gta (gta a game you want to play) and in the folder there is a file called game face open that then click one Binaries then click on win64 and select launcher.exe and it should run smooth giving you this advise because rockstar is down and fixing some files because i herd people trying to run the game and it dosnt work and it just says quit game but this will by pass all this i havnt tried doing this with rockstar socail club installed.

Let it be known that crack issues aside, this trilogy is DOWNRIGHT BROKEN. It's currently impossible to beat Vice City because a certain mission glitches and it always fails and San Andreas has tons of missions like that too.
as a experienced retired vanilla gta user i rather prefer to use the vanilla versions for many reasons but the 3 main ones are
1.- they are very light 2.- they have tons of mods, and using the correct ones makes trilogy a dogsh1.t 3.- rockstar removed a lot of cra.p in the trilogy, some radio musics and other references

You are doing something wrong or maybe you don't have VC++ or anything else installed, and btw, the version hosted here are massively outdated.
This whole Trilogy collection here are version 1.0/1.01 unpatched day one and contains many bugs and issues, but no save files corruption.
And the one (again still igg-games), with 3 separate games (GTA 3 DE, VC DE and SA DE) are version 1.03 or 1.04, and they fixed most bugs, but contains a huge issues that can corrupt your save files and crashes the game.
So it's recommended you to obtaining one from Deftones crack instead (or if you know what you are doing [requires skill and manually install], using Steam version [get it from cs.rin.ru] with Goldberg Emu + Deftones crack combined which is more latest and stable, no save corruptions).
Most likely not, but the other separated one: GTA 3 Definitive Edition GTA VC Definitive Edition and San Andreas Definitive Edition are all on patch 1.03.
But be warned, the version 1.03-1.04 (RGL) may have a bug that corrupts your save game. In my case, my save files was corrupted 2 times, and using multiple slots wont help either, the same problem was also seen on Reddit aswell at some point.
However in my case, I'm using the latest, clean and self cracked Steam version (1.0.17.39540) with Deftones crack and Goldberg Emu (for Achievements) and never encountered any issues whatsoever.
This one in this page are all Day One (1.0 or 1.01) and contains the whole trilogy itself.

maybe you need to update your Windows to play the game, this game officially support Windows 10 and 11 only, but might be able to run on Windows 8.1 when fully updated. If you are already on 10 or 11, you might have to update windows to make sure its full of update, then install Visual C++ and DirectX and try it again, if none of these above work, you might have to reinstall the OS.

Game should have been pulled, because its garbage. This company has looked for any way possible to keep making money on outdated old ass games, instead of creating something new.
Though this game might be a ported mess, this hijacked copy isn't without its positives. As of today (November 12, 2021), Rockstar has ripped the PC version from their servers once it has been found out by data miners that there are some disabled licensed music still within the game as well as a few colorful comments from the developers possibly in this now "older" version of the trilogy. So, this is probably one of those few times where it's good that it was jacked for archivng sake.

It's a slipery slope subject that could derail for hours, and while it surely affect the final result, I strongly believe this is not the only problem.
So R* is gone, as you said, but not only due to crunch. RDR2 was solid and worth it (even tho' the optimization on pc was trash at the start)

There is a difference with the "original bugs" like a plane crashing during a cinematic or some explosion and such, that used to happen yes.
But the sausage finger ? The insta lose mission ? The deformed physix ? The cliping through wall and various hole in the texture that sent you in the void ?
Never ever in my 25+ playthrough of GTA Sa and VC (I must play them at least once a year) I encountered any of those
I spent probably thousand of hours in San Andreas and I never ever, EVER, saw that.
So no, fck the chillers, this port is garbage.
Even if you're right (and you're wrong) that this is not R that was the Dev, they still OWN the Ip, they still BACK the project, and they are MULTI BILLIONAIRE.
We're not talking about a fan made remake, We're not talking about a Single A rank studio that happen to get an old game IP back and tried to make something.
There is no excuse to this.
