Technically but you can still play it because the person running the game on the pc doesn't need to be online, the other participants play via their phones or mobile devices.
Its possible that the servers just don't do any sort of authentication to see if you're running the game on a legitimate platform. The game is apparently available DRM-free so this is probably the case.
How and why it works is beyond me.
