Pfft, I haven't been through a real crisis during my lifetime, but people that have lived through wars would laugh and cry at the same time at your statement. Especially world wars.
World wars didn't always affect everyone the same way a pandemic could. The USA civilians for example were hardly affected by WW2. Not to mention that it simply doesn't matter what some random people in the past went through, what matters to people is what they themselves are going through, and the fact that some poor shmuk in the past had it worse is irrelevant.
