The timelimit kinda puts me off... but I don't know, it seems like the game is designed around it in a more interesting way than just rushing you through it.
Anyway, played the demo already on the Switch and it felt already like a masterpiece, when it comes to the controls and gameplay loop.
EDIT: Also, some of these comments... wow... I didn't really actively noticed (or care) that she's a black girl... it was just a female protagonist which doesn't look half bad. But wow, the mindset of some people is just messed up beyond belief.
It's yet another of the reasons why I suggested to the developers of this chat system, that IGG is using, to implement a Block User/Mute User option (like chat systems like Disqus have) - just so anyone that wants to can just completely remove those idiotic comments forever while logged in. Their opinions are not even worth considering if they keep thinking and commenting stupid things like those.
I don't get some of the comments here, who cares if the character is this or that, is the game fking good/decent you brainlets!? OMG the robot has freckles and weird haircut that's not believable!!11!, who the fk cares.
Yeah i guess you just don't play mmorpg or such since crosscode is like pocket-sized guild wars 2. It has all the contents from free roam, action rpg, to region-based puzzle and completion
Yes crosscode looks good at first, and has everything to be great like awesome graphics and music, but the gazillion sidequests and timed puzzles are a cheap way of extending gameplay, I just abandoned halfway though and didn´t bother to return, a pity.
The game's fun, but it's kinda soulless. Platforming is uncomfortable with either keyboard or controller.
I paid the devs by picking up the switch version, which is already a bit ahead of the version here in updates. That's mostly for their combat mechanics, which kept me playing the game regardless of the issues:
Combat devolves to souls-like from a relatively Hyper-light-drifter base, emphasizing use of counterattacks from parry critical exposure, but:
Enemy attacks are telegraphed on default (not-explorer, not-hardest) difficulty, making parries simple to set up and execute, given observation of timing, but since player attacks also "block" enemy attacks, players are quickly given the option of just slamming whatever enemy they see. 3 Meteor powder to the weapons shop owner unlocks a mid-to-low "all-elements" weapon, possible within a couple hours of gameplay, permitting a play style that just immediately attacks and kills all non-boss enemies on sight, with freeze, debuff, and DoT effects.
The game is styled for "speedruns", so memorization of later blueprints permits crafting of crucial metroidvania exploration items. Awkward, kinda, since this means most early "block" obstacles can be circumvented with early build of "L. Grenade", for example.
The graphics for actual gameplay are decent, animations are decent, everything about this game looks great until you're confronted with just how tacky and unfortunate most character designs wound up in the UNFORTUNATE amount of cutscenes and dialogue graphic splashes. They can't have intended for their "breathing" animation to come off as vaguely creepy and unrepresentative of any natural movement whatsoever, but every single dialogue and pause screen will force you to confront just what terrible taste these guys have for character design. I'm not just typing that to be mean, I've paid them money for their game because it's basically fun and worth playing, but their characters are hot s h i t crossed with a garbage fire. The game is immensely improved by skipping every possible dialogue and cutscene, regardless of what you miss in lore, because the lore is cheesy and poorly executed.
One of the devs describes the game as "pixel art zelda/souls/metroid-like game made by trans devs with a full LGBT and non-white cast and with a great focus on speedrunning". I love metroidvanias and saw a video talking about how well it makes the optional pickups that you get from backtracking feel worth getting without making them a must have so I'm going to give it a try.
for those don't like PC,SJW and BLM shit,i'm highly not recommend you guys touch it. Inside main characters mostly are black or "silver" skin with SJW classic hair style. background story are pretty lame. but somehow combat are quite challenging amd fun.
btw freckles on a robots face are so weird and nonsense, unless the robot are design to satisfy some humans desire UwU
The "UPDATE V1.6.353.0" line makes no sense. It's a version number for Skyrim. Clicked the first link and the file name says v1.1.3, which makes more sense.
This looks almost like a clone of a similar game that I can´t remember the name now but there are at least half a dozen games that use this same engine and gameplay. Pass.
This game is a Zelda-esque action adventure with Soulslike combat and a world that changes while in-game, even if you're doing nothing. Basically it's like Hyper Light Drifter x Majora's Mask and ERRRGGGG my brain stopped working just play it!
Go away, toxic human. Representation is important. I guess they forgot the hard rule that every game protagonist has to be a white male, OH SHIT LET'S BAN IT
Representing in the name of representing isn't representation. It's forcing your belief system down our throats, a society that has built their ideals around God and moral principals. Homosexuality is evil, we all know it, and these disgusting acts are only publicized by a minority of people who are directly funded by think tanks seeking to demoralize humanity, that is why homosexuality is all over our entertainment today. You are doomed for eternity if you believe in these disgusting things, I hope you soon realize that.
accept white male leads are exreamly rare in western games. 9/10 games in the west are a white girl or a black guy. Your honestly being dishoest. Who is the player base for gamers? 90% white dudes. The population is less then 14% black yet 90% of games are not about the majority population anymore (post 2016). You dont want representation you want to not have white ppl u want the opposite of representation you want white ppl gone.
I'd like to see where you're making those tall assumptions from. 90% white dudes are the gamers? really? and the population is less than 14% black means the rest are white? get your facts straight before assuming what's in someone else's head man. a simple google search would give you the correct numbers.
And for your "extremely rare" statement, there was a study back in 2009. I cant find the document anymore but it showed how prevalent the white male dude protagonist was. the study wasnt focused there, but it did create a census of the existing game characters regionwise.
I looked at the first three pages of IGG and tried to figure out who the protaganist of each game was and what their race/gender was. This is the list i ended up with:
White Man: 6 Other: 14 Unknown: 2 Asian Girl: 2 White Girl: 2 Black Girl: 1 Unknown Man: 2 Slavic Vampire Man: 1 Male Furry: 3
Most of these games are western but some of them are japanese (notably, the two asian girls were both from japanese games).
This was the only game on the first three pages with a black protaganist, male or otherwise, which makes black people underrepresented on the games that end up on IGG at least (which seems to be most of them considering all the crap on here). Men were also overrepresented, with a lot more male than female protaganists.
About half of all games however either had ungendered protaganists (usually sentient or ambiguously drivered vehicles, or strange creatures) or let you create your own character or didn't have a clear protaganist at all (maybe you played as characters of varying races/genders or maybe you just interacted with a menu and there wasn't a player character at all).
I'd be interested in seeing what you define as a western game that you feel white male leads are extremely rare.

that is to say, it's emulating an MMORPG> it's a by-the-books action rpg though.

I was ready to laugh along with you, tilkl i saw two screenshots, and didnt even see a fat person.
so instead im gonna ask " what crack are you on, bruh? "
Stop being a bitch. Bet you were real fucking silent when there were hardly any minorities in games.
Racists come in all shapes and sizes, but they only have 1 IQ.
