terrible game! As your town gets bigger the towns people start doing what they want and ignore very important commands like a new well so all have enough water or having them build a farm so there is enough food but no they go off wandering doing what ever they want until they start dying after 3 games like this decided to delete this game in disgust! I'll wait a year and hope the developer fixes this early access mess. I'd be very angry if i paid money. This game is a very early access game I really dont think the developer should have released it in it's current state seeing as this is an unfinished game. The people dont even listen to commands! Making game play very frustrating. That is one of the main parts of this game is it not? If players cant even control the towns people what is the point to even play? I'd like to give a big thank you to IGG for letting us sample and play these games so we dont waste our money when we find these so called games are actually nothing more then early access promises and not the full blown games they claim to be. Anyway, I really hope patron will be fixed and updated it does have promise. It was fun when some controls worked! Ok until next year when i try again and test to see if the game has been fixed and is working properly.
LOL! I came to check on status i see they still have issues so i'll skip it! I'm not even going to try it! The towns people probably still go off and do what they want no matter how much you command them to farm food or build a well for water.
Like others have mentioned its very much a Banished reboot. The benefits of this is this means there's a chance for some of the weaker areas of Banished to be addressed and redone in Patron with an active development team. The tech tree and class system already offers something a bit more unique then just a reskin of a good game. However, as it is right now the game runs like an early access game not a ready to publish game. It also doesn't have the mod community to throw tons of extra content at it yet either so you are left with the very vanilla base game. Overall I would say if you like the genre, bookmark it and come back in a few months and see what patches they have done. The steam community reviews have left tons of good ideas on how the game can be fleshed out and fixed and hopefully the developers listen. If they do, we could have a pretty decent new city builder. Not maybe super unique, but at least something worth downloading and spending some time with.
Plays like another Settlers, but the research panel is bugged, you can't research at some point even if you have the prerequisites for any of them, grayed out.
The game has more features and contents than Banished, but it lacks information informed. For example, my population died during winter, but I did not know until I checked the number myself. There is no indication of the death and cause of it. Just a simple fix will make this game more accessible to wider audiences and worthy of Banished genre.

If the player chose poorly, they are fucked within the next few in-game days. Also, they are a family unit. There won't be a next generation if the settlement could not attract another family of migrants.
The fact that you think banished was the first city builder with combat is sad. Banished is a clone in and upon itself. Educate yourself a bit first before making a fool out of yourself.
