Necessary? Is it necessary for me to drink my own urine? No! But I do it anyway, cause it's sterile and I like the taste.

Sounds like a school's management made the decision to have the mechanic double-time as a Phys-Ed coach.

people are complaining about this in the comments without even playing it but it is quite fun , has a good colour palette , some decent fluid animations , multiple mechanics for variety , good level design , unlockable items , shop system , equipment system , it has a charm to it only downside for me is i wish you could select your team instead of having a pre determined team for the story

(10:22) I can imagine why you lingered there. Nino went down with a single hit after you passed to the other character.

It's designs like these that gets critically praised is why I never made art my #1 career. I'd lose it knowing years of detail perfection was a waste.

i mean these are all kids shows, they're meant to have simple cute designs to ease production times and help targeting, and being completely fair the only ones that were critically praised were gravity falls and steven univers for their stories, and gumball because of the humor and animation.
Besides, if you want to see more mature creative driven pieces, adult animation is still a thing (people in the west just have a tendency to associate animation with kids entertainment which is why they take it less seriously, but that's a different thing)

That's not entirely true. There are a few shows that use extremely simplistic artwork to subvert the expectation of it being considered something for kids (Crayon Shinchan, Happy Tree Friends, South Park... kinda). Flipside, there are highly complex animated kid shows that looked like it would be more for adults (Transformers, G.I. Joe, 70s Star Trek, Swat Kats). Simplicity doesn't equate to maturity, which is why I never mentioned it.
My issue is quality should be over quantity. It can be argued that the lack of details give time for better story driven dialogue, but that could be easily placed on any medium depending on the quality and dedication of the production crew. No, outside of the caliber of the talent they pulled, it was simply cost-effective which is why they were able to churn out so many episodes (same can be said about 3D shows once the character models are made).
Furthermore, with changes in current animation trends, it's questionable if this similar wave of style is formulated to push a product for sales, notoriety, or even ideals. There are a lot of shows doing that as of late, making the selection of current entertainment being shades of gray since the only thing folks can discern one IP from another is the theme.
Which one are you interested in? The simplistic animation that has cats and dogs, the simplistic animation that has campers, the one that has talking gems, or the one that is about a novice space crew?

It's true that simplicity doesn't equate level of maturity, but that was never my point, I was talking from an industry standpoint. Shows with simple designs are more easy to produce, animation and merchandise wise, and turns out kids love cute or simple stuff, and they also love to ask their parents to buy stuff with those simple cute designs.
If we go by purely artistic value then the problem goes back to the industry aspect, creators of shows like Steven universe and gravity falls had to fight constantly for the right to make the shows that they wanted, and they both admit that they were only able to do so much. This is because if you really try to put a message out there, you're bound to upset someone one way or the other, which doesn't help any business, so those type of shows aren't even given a chance
The problem with analyzing animation works as an artistic expression is animation as medium itself. Animation is expensive, it needs A LOT of manpower to be done, this is why the industry is the way it is, movies are mostly 3D because that's effectively cheaper to make than a 2D animation of the same quality, (I think it's also important to mention all those shows you mentioned as more complex animations were all made as a way of marketing toy's, the shows were just ads because that was the only way to justify their budget). And most 2D shows are 11 minutes per episode nowadays, and even that takes months to complete.
I could keep talking about it, like how the movements in trends from the 70s and 80s to the 90s and 2000s led us to this specific style we see today. Different views from western and eastern societies on animation and art styles. Or even the exploitation of animators which is still a very common thing around the world, not as bad as it used to, but the problems are still there and still severe
but I'll be honest, I feel lame writing an essay on a site for game piracy lol i just tried to since you seem to come in good faith and with a real appreciation for the art
but yeah it's a big complicated mess, but there's a lot more than just "calarts likes bean mouth" lol
...
(kinda off-topic but try to submit a sketchbook with bean mouth drawings to calarts, you'll get turn down faster than you can say "we~ are the crystal gems")

No, it's cool. We get all kinds of pirates in here. Not all are cutthroating scallywags. As long as we have some inkling of respect it's usually pretty chill... till things get political or a certain text-based company enters the chat.
Without going into more wall building, I think a lot of the dislike has to come from how childlike it looks but trying to fit itself so even adults could watch this show for kids. Not only that, it could also be from what kind of questionable views that is within the story or even from the production team themselves. Pretty much your average war found on Twitter nowadays. Outside of that, it's becoming noticeable that even bigger brands are cashing in so they can be relatable. Hopefully the "silence, brand" meme doesn't get too stale.
But yeah, I get where you're coming from. I can totally respect that. Truth be told, I was set to be an animator, even went to college for it. Went against it afterwards. You're definitely right on one thing; you come in a legitimate site with caricatures as your A-Team, you'll get arrested for causing people to faint from passing out laughing. How these new chaps land a position with that stuff is beyond me.

I saw you calling this the calarts style in other comments and like, a lot of the shows you mentioned aren't even made by people who went to calarts.
Secondly, showing just a few characters to complain about a "style" is really weak, there are plenty of characters withing those shows, (even in their main cast) who don't fit the style, jeff from clarence has a fucking square for a head.
Art will always follow some trends because if people like something then they'll try to add it to their own work. The whole calarts style thing feels more like another attempt at "degenerate art" discourse
PS: as a nitpick, thundercats roar was dead before even airing, so it feels irrelevant, and lucas is a whole different can of worms since it is 3D, even if it's using 2D inspired stylistic choices is not fair to use it as this is still something rarely seen on the medium of 3D

I was talking purely design. The indoctrination and propaganda in childrens' shows is a way more horrible problem in general.
To its credit, though, the Calarts beanmouth is a good "get the fuck away from this woke trash" sign.

Super Dodgeball Brawlers was pretty amazing too. Not sure if there is any affiliation with Kunio (River City Ransom???) but it definitely seems like it. The music was awesome in it too, like at 0:53 got me so fucking pumped while playing it when I was younger.

This memorable game was indeed part of the Kunio-kun saga (later entries) and developed by the very same Arc System Works.
This is of course the western localization of the game, whose original Japanese name was Chou Nekketsu Koko Kunio-kun Dodgeball Bu.
Great game and now, thankfully, it is even playable on your phone via the emulator.

If I'm not mistaken this is the one on Neo Geo released in 1996 named "Super Dodge Ball" in the west and "Kunio no Nekketsu Dodgeball Densetsu" in Japan.
Didn't play it but I hear it was, from the technical standpoint, the peak of the series. Unfortunately it was also the last game Technos helped develop before they had to shut their doors for good.
Gratefully, it seems to be also playable using a proper emulator.

yeah youre right. and not really kunio kun series as much as its just an offshoot of the city and highscool ( being nekketsu )
they even brouight nekketsu highscool back for river city girls ( bc they blnded western and eastern lore for new lore )
I dig it.
