Ladies and gents, behold one of my most favorite game series of all time! The "Kunio kun" series or the "River City" games as is known in the west. This remake (remaster) was released back in 2019 and call me crazy, but I'm sure I played it at release. A fun game regardless.
Never played any of the other games, only played a crapton of a spin-off called Nekketsu Kakutou Densetsu (Nekketsu Fighting Legend or Hot Blooded Fighting Legend) on yellow cassette. Most of the OST from that game is still stuck in my head to this day. Aah memories.
A+B simultaneous press was the standard and widely accepted way of performing a jump on beat 'em up NES games. You jumped the same way in Double Dragon games and a bunch of other similar games. I mean, there are only a handful of ways you could get creative with 'only two' buttons 😄
