SOLUTION to the crash when launching it. First off there are missing files in Plugins\x86_64 which is why the game detects you not using the real Steam. Go to an alternate cracked website like: (https://cracked-games.org/doki-doki-literature-club-plus-free-download/) and download it. You can use that version and play or copy the files from this Plugins\x86_64 to the IGG version Plugin\x86_64 where the files are missing. Have fun.
Hi guys, the game has a file problem that makes it crash and that's why it doesn't start I ask an admin or person responsible for downloads to update the game with missing files, otherwise it won't work. (Sorry if there's a typo because I'm not very good at writing '-')
People are saying this is a broken game because the .chr files aren't in the install folder. This is by design. This updated version has an in-game OS that takes care of all of that, probably so kids won't end up deleting system32 or something. Just play it like normal and it'll all make sense.
On one side Renpy trickery can be really immersive and make you feel like your actual computer's been infected with the antagonist, but that risk is there, definitely. They took it once and got the job done, but I don't blame them for not taking it again.

the http://reset.sh file is just for the ddlc part of the game (the visual novel) not literally EVERYTHING. Do you mean the entire game (files, e-mails etc) or just the visual novel part?
This ver of the game has the original story plus some more content for you to undertsand the lore of the game. To acsess it, just press the "leave ddlc" and you'll find an in-game OS for you to explore

The first "waiting" page before you get to google/mega/etc. loads an advertising script but the anti-virus blocks it. It's not a virus but it's blocked because it's a nuisance. Disable Avast's Web Shield if it prevents you from downloading the game.

Yeah well, DDlC has meta, meaning it won't just "involve" the game itself. The original has side quests from your real OS itself. Another example would be to remove a virus on your actual OS in a mission in the game Hacknet. Whatever they cooked up for this director's cut was probably a bit too risky to run on the actual OS.
They created a Pseudo-OS to handle the meta content as the original game was Running in RenPy and the python scripts can damage your files if they mess up with the bugs.

i suggest that you tried to use another monitor, or maybe hack with the .ini settings if available to see if this game should run under another setting this is usually just some random graphic hack but it won't hurt to try because by the sound of the problem, it is either the setting that doesn't work with your pc or maybe something about your graphical setting/driver that isn't compatible
I've already run the game but my dumb self experimented with the settings so my graphics should be compatible and sadly I'm using laptop anyways thanks for the tips, I gave up after 6 hours of figuring it out.
I feel sad that its not in the clunky RenPy engine anymore but shifting the game to a more flexible engine will make the ARG aspect of this game better.

That's not a scene. The fake OS is completely interactive. Just hit esc, and click exit DDLC and it'll take you to a fake boot screen that'll lead to the fake OS. It does this every time. Like I said this one is gonna be very different. I'm starting to think this is as much a sequel as it is a remaster.
For those having issues with the installer (i.e. if double-clicking on the "setup.exe" doesn't launch it) remember that you can't extract the .ISO file and run the exe that way. You have to mount it on a virtual drive first and then the installer will run. (Tested on Windows 10 - 64bit)
