I LIKE it! Everything else retro has seemed to come back, but I need more digitized sprites games. I wish they would finally release Bikini Karate Babes 3. Or just start up a whole genre. They've got all teh pron actresses and pron in teh world. Theres a market for that. They've already got tons of sex/hentai games. Theres a market for that. Just COMBINE the two!
Oh man, it's so much more and less than that. Capstone: The Pinnacle of Entertainment Software is its own horrible animal. Even Titus Interactive probably had one good game. Capstone has classics of a way different kind. As bad as the the Witchhaven games are, they're still the best FPS games Capstone has ever made.
And you're right to compare them. Capstone owes a lot to id software. They're even known for straight up stealing and morphing assets directly from Doom. id wasn't really the type to care about asset stealing, though so they just let capstone run itself into the ground.
Capstone Software was a game company that worked in the 80s and 90s. Once Doom and Wolfenstein released, they decided to keep up by making FPSs in the same vein, but they never figured out how to make them good. They're famous for making some of the worst first person shooters ever made, most of them feeling straight up unfinished. Witchaven and Witchaven 2 were their last two projects, and they were also the only games they made that were almost good.
I've had a bit of fun with Corridor 7. Back in the day when I didn't care about who made or published a game... I just saw the game and played it. And it was in a time where I was fascinated from "Wolfenstein 3D", so this game also got me hooked.
To be fair, while it's not a timeless masterpiece such as William Shatner's TEKWAR, this is maybe one of the few Capstone games that is actually a halfway decent game
