downloaded fine from torrent. Installed fine (copied codex folder during install). loaded fine. Load a saved from early release, gets in, can move for a few moments then it crashes. Attempted new game, loaded, clicked skip on the tavern, then get a unity crash. Lowered graphics to low, repeated with same results. Unplayable currently :( Played the pre-release version to the end with no problem whatsoever. Tried graphics settings, refresh rate, old saves, new start, windowed & exclusive full screen. all to no difference :(
Weird, downloaded as normal but when i click the disc image file to install nothing happens, which is a first, never had this trouble before, anyone having the same issue? Nvm sorted, apparently just had to restart coms. lol.
I'm in no way an expert on the "Dungeons and Dragons" style games but I hear this game delivers a decent tutorial on those, and perhaps on the entire CRPG genre. So if you're struggling with getting into CRPG games that'd be the selling point of this game for you. It's less RPG and more combat-focused; something the devs kept repeating during its kickstarter.
I've played quite a bit of D&D, and this really nails the feel of the pen and paper game. Easily the best videogame implementation of dice rolls and skill use I've seen in a long time. The writing is fantastic, especially how the character personality traits you pick in creation affect the dialogue. I'm a writer, and have been working on a dialogue heavy RPG for the past year, so I can imagine just how much damn work went into this. I come to this site because I find myself losing interest in most games pretty quick and don't want to waste too much money on games I won't keep playing, but I'm going to have to buy this one to support the devs.
Thank you for sharing that. As someone with no meaningful experience with pen & paper D&D I was curious as to how someone versed in it would actually feel toward this game. Also, good luck with your game 👍
If you love non-first person role playing this is a great choice. The story is good and solid. The combat and dice rolls are the closest implementation of the tabletop rules released in a game. The ability to create a party of 4 characters each with their own personalities and background allows some customization of the dialog. A little warning: Solasta is one of those RPGs where you create your party at the beginning of the game, like Icewind Dale. Personally, not my cup of tea, as I prefer it when I only have to create the MC and then meet different NPCs through the story, who may join me or not. YMMV.
I appreciate the brevity on making this game available on launch day but why is it that two hosts are already down/not working? I use Jdownloader 2, Gdrive is saying it's already over its quota (wow, that was quick) and MegaUp gives an error. The torrent works though.
most people try to use Gdrive, it will quickly reach the limit. MegaUp does not currently work with JD2. In a forum a JD2 mod wrote that MegaUp is trying to block JD2 so that it is not usable at the moment. so use MegaUp via browser or an other host^^
Wow. Thought I'd have to wait another 2-3 hours, was actually hitting the site to check if it had been requested yet. Early Access was superb. Abilities one usually ignores in this genre find use (like featherfall), and despite creating each member of the party the game tosses in and 'randomizes' a handful of background connections and stories in ways you only usually see with 'predefined character' quests. Probably will be buying it in a pay-stub or two, but too impatient to wait that long.
