This one has crack files missing. It's possible to fix by copying the launcher and the 4 SmartSteamEmu files from any other Choice of Games book uploaded here at IGG, edit SmartSteamEmu.ini line "Target" to "Target = IfItPleaseTheCourt.exe" and it should work.
You need to launch it from the LAUNCHER_x64.exe or the LAUNCHER.exe if you weren't already trying that or if anybody else is in this situation. Default exe don't work either way.

It reminds me so much of early Amazon Kindle ebooks where people used to crank out garbage twenty-page ebooks for 99 cents and actually made bank off them.
It's actually multiple authors that write those Choice of Games or Hosted Games. There is usually the name of the writer below the title inside the game. Most of them are works in progress that can be freely played from browser, and some are approved to be sold by the company. The quality does oscilates a lot because of that, and there seems to be a company policy to give such focus on the player gender and sexuality for some reason. But for every 10 crappy stories, there is at least one worth reading, like the ones from Paul Wang, Mike Walter, Thom Baylay or Devon Connell. They also got one from Vampire: The Masquerade and a few more predicted to come that has potential. At any rate, the ones that I consider crappy does sell so I believe there must be a target audience for those as well.
Vampre: The Masquerade Parliament of Knives is going to come out this summer. Also, try out Sabres and Guns of Infinity, are other of the few good books (games?) from this company
