you must have never develop any program huh?
epic gives game developers bigger sales from their sales to the devs and that gives the game developer more chances to survive since they know even if they launched at steam they won't get much sales anyways
this is why marketing department is a thing. it is a measurement of survival, especially for those who hangs their lifeline on this business
on the bright side, when this game lands on steam, it might not be EA anymore and that could boost the rating of the game once it's sold on steam which is another good thing
PS: you're just someone who hated change. I bet you don't even use steam in 2008/2009 anyways and says that buying game online is not a good thing

oh really? for as long as I remember, EPIC is from America WHICH they do sell their share to Tencent which is literally biggest gaming company in the world that no one knows of. Did you also know that Tencent also has Riot Games in their hand? no?
and they do not get their money from Tencent which afaik the company who sell their shares IS the one who give the money to the company who BUY the shares. that's where you come wrong. but better luck next time, mr delinquent

yeah exactly people work on games for years, having the money from epic helps subsidize all cost of development alot of the time people have more then just themselves to worry about , if a company offers you few hundred grand or so to put what you worked on as exclusive for half a year or year all the people complaining would take that deal if they were in those peoples shoes they can say they would not but money talks hah

Yeah Epic is like a free kickstarter with an EA release, gives devs around a year or so to get things working. In theory, the game might then not suck as hard once it hits a reputable (non-Epic) storefront like Steam or GOG.
Unfortunately most games are still shit even by the time they hit Steam...

No, i think it's counter productive if you want to somehow "hurt" the dev. What you should do is to go everywhere except this pirate site lol prevent people from buying MIGHT be more productive for you, people are gonna pirate anyway so don't waste your time

That's exactly true, since the people (including me) on this site "normally" would pirate games - be it a good or a crappy dev (or just for precious), and let's no lie to ourselves with the whole "I only try before buying" which is only true for a select few.
And it totally won't hurt a dev getting his game on more devices since that just proves how good his work really is, You wouldn't boycott a brand by actually buying or wearing it right ?

i was making a comment about how it makes me happy to see ppl openly giving the middle finger to a dev, you can tell a ton of ppl downloaded it from google alone.
the links don't break on every game an hour after theyre released.

whatever this dudes are fucked anyway
accepting exclusive deals with epic its a death sentence worse than adding denuvo, some indie developers who accepted being exclusive for a year their sales are even much low when they come to steam
and we all know whats the reason

WORSE THAN DENUVO!?
I don't fucking think so. Epic might be evil manipulative assholes trying to monopolise the game selling industry via shadily providing money for free to devs for exclusivity, but that exclusivity ends eventually. And even while exclusive it doesn't have anything to do with DRM, which is so fucking unbelievably evil that I'd prefer to time travel to 1940's USSR than deal with it.
Denuvo is worse than Stalin - there are people actually WANTING Denuvo and think it's good... no wait, it's pretty much exactly like Stalin.

I think it's funny how people are still hanging shit on developers for going with Epic. It's their bloody JOB, their livelihood at stake - what, you expect them to just roll with getting paid cents on the dollar over at Steam, just out of some altruistic love for gamers? Bullshit.
They are people, with families they have to support, of course they'll go with the better deal. You would. I would. Anyone would. So let's not dick around and pretend otherwise. You have a problem with Epic? That's up to you, meanwhile I'll enjoy the best of both worlds - great sales on Steam and free games on Epic.

Depends on whether the game had a kickstarter before that or not. If the game already had some funding thing like kickstarter, then suddenly taking an Epic exclusive is effectively giving a middle finger to all your backers.
Phoenix Point did that. But the game turned out shit anyway so no one really cares - so it's probably likely that at some point the supposedly passionate devs decided to just shit out any old crap and roll around in filthy Chinese Yen for the rest of their shitty lives.

so the dev advertised this on steam for a few years to pull the rug out 3 months till release :)

he has no reason to sellout to epic, his game did AMAZINg and seriously - look at the first Unexplored - it is children-level art.

Probably because its an exclusivity deal.
Might have been handed a bowl of cash like Onward for VR got multiple times now.
That's how the world works, you wouldn't hand down a giant bag of cash.
(I hate what Facebook is doing to VR and what Epic is doing to the PC gaming platform but still, money is how the world turns.)

Same and rogue lite were the popular trend these past year, quite weird to be a "critically acclaimed" and not beeing as known as Dead Cells or Enter the Gungeon.
Ho well, it's cell shading so it might worth a try for me :3
