just pick a save file which contains an autosave of the boss mode and place it in the your game directory (.../Lost Ruins/Saves). Then open your game, select Continue and chose the save you have just added (and hope that there are no other problems). I'm sure a lot of people will see the sexy anime girls and think "oh, this would be a cute lil playthrough". I am here to tell you that no, it is not. This game is fucking satanic. Save points are scattered far apart, the combat has a limited moveset and is brutally hard, and some bosses verge on fucking ridiculous. Not to say that it's a bad game, because it isn't. It's lovely to look at and mechanically sound. But just a public service announcement: it's not cute, it's evil as fuck!
Find a PC at the camp or various points after that to manually save, statues autosave for you and require you to use another statue or be away for a while to save again.

Garbage controls? It feels fine to me. Different weapons/spells/items have different attack animations. Some are faster than others. I'm early in the game and while I love the damage the Hatchet does, it has its limits when facing slimes because of how fast they can move. That's why you have two weapon slots so that you're not hosed based on your choice of weapon.
This game is not as good as I was hoping. It's not awful, but it's not great either. Got to the first boss and through the first two stages but no clue how to actually beat the final stage. Controls are slow and bad but that's how the challenge is created basically. If you save at the wrong time you can put yourself in a bad situation, lacking the items that would help you defeat a certain boss or enemy. Overall I am going to call this a disappointment and not as good as I was expecting. Not completely terrible or without merit though

I have an issue with the particle effects. But it turned out to be more than just a visual mishap... important key items are made with those graphics so now I can't advance in the game. I don't know why but from torch's fire to enemy projectiles are completely invisible. Even the waterfalls of the sewers are affected. They are visible but as a pink rectangle where it's supposed to be waterfalls. Keys and quest items are nowhere to be found either; if anyone knows what could be the problem, I would appreciate immensely your help. Cheers
Sounds like you have some kind of driver issue there. If you start seeing pink where normal stuff is supposed to be, its usually a sign that the computer is asking for info that your graphics card doesn't know how to handle. Even if the card can Physically handle it, the drivers are still needed to send the correct information. I mean, I don't exactly have a cutting edge video card (its about 4 years old) and I've had no issues. So it sounds like some kind of driver issue.
My pc specs are quite similar to yoursn a tad inferior, actually. My guess is that it has to be related to the directx. I already had it but I tried to install the one that comes with the game, but my pc notified I have a newer version so deemed it unnecessary. The game has plenty stuff to be fixed, hopefully this issues along with them.
The controls aren't that hard. It's just pretty old school. One of those where you stand still when you attack and can't cancel the animation. The traps are indeed shitty when you don't notice them, but that's why there's the phone messages in the early stages to tell you that there's a trap there. I bet you didn't even read past the first five words in each. People are just saying that it reminds them of Momodora because of the visual aesthetics.
And if you haven't found the porn, you just haven't looked hard enough. I'm sure someone has even found a pornographic way to refer to the rules of the internet!
