It's not necessarily bad, it's just not as good as the hundreds of thousands of other indie games in an oversaturated indie title market. There are only a few indie games I would actually play out of the hundreds of thousands with maybe a couple hundred being just ok. Majority of the games in the indie title market are just purely garbage.

This game was on my radar. The studio made a similar retro-style game titled "V.O.I.D" back in 2018. Although that game didn't generate a lot of buzz, I think it was quite decent for what it was which is an enjoyable action platformer. However, I had to put that game down because the devs seemed to be a fan of a certain gimmick in which they limit the player's vision (by putting a spotlight on you in a dark room) and then make you platform. You may not think much of it but it's a personal pet-peeve of mine. And from the looks of it, this coveted mechanic is making an epic reappearance in this game 😄 Other than that, it looks fine and cute. (The GIF below is from V.O.I.D)
