Making stop-motion animation is hard and tedious work. That's why I wanted to take my time with this game before I say anything.
So after about 3 hours of playtime, I can say that ... well ... it isn't really a good game, unfortunately. And that's if we ignore the minor bugs and glitches here and there.
I love the art style. And I really enjoyed Skullmonkeys and Neverhood games on the original PS1. This game however fails in implementing the mechanics. It has one of the worst types of jank, which is "inconsistent jank". Sometimes pressing the jump button after landing works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes pressing the dodge button will make it happen and sometimes it just doesn't.
As much as I hold the "one man development team" dear, I can't help but think that the game would've greatly benefited from a more experienced hand in the mechanics department.

hi i made the game, i couldn't agree more. it got to the point where fixing the game to be better would take longer than starting a new game, or remaking it from the ground up. I learned a lot making this thing, most of it i learned through making mistakes- and I think thats very obvious in the final product.
i'm still updating the game to try and get rid of the 'inconsistent jank' but jank is still gonna be there probably.
anyway thanks for the review i appreciate it

Hey Ian, thank you for reading it and for taking it as it was intended: constructive criticism.
It is still a visually fantastic game and countless hours of work you've put in definitely shines through. And I'm sure you won't be dissuaded by my impromptu review.
Oh, and yes, you made a wise choice. The best way to learn is from 'fast and frequent' mistakes, rather than extending a project a few more years.
Looking forward to the updates and your future games. Best of luck.

Cool idea and art, just doesn't look all that fun. Would love to see more physically crafted games, there's one where everything is made of paper coming up soon...

What a weird-ass game. I remember how it was well received back in 2012 and made some buzz.
I wrote it off for being 'another puzzle game'. I would say I was young and stupid, but I wasn't. It was simply ignorance.
I guess it's time now.
