WitE is 10 years old. This is a difficult (for a beginner), complex and perhaps the most detailed strategy (together with Gary Grigsby's War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition). Honestly, not at all like the HoI. Hearts of Iron is more for casual players. In my Opinion, WitE is for grognards.
To be honest, you really need a lot of free time to start playing this. It's best to start by watching some tutorials on YouTube, which takes time by itself. I don't have that much free time yet to watch it all, and I have to before playing because there are so many new options. Game is worth playing, only if like that type of games.
He is one of the most famous and most important characters in the world of PC strategy games. I've known his games for a long time. Probably, I played some of his games on my ZX Spectrum+ and that was a long, long time ago, believe me xD.
Got Windows 10. I extracted the ISO in a folder with 7zip and just ran the setup. At the end it asked with checkboxes for Direct X 9 and .NET 4.7 which I skipped. Started and blocked the firewall Maybe run setup in a CMD window to see an exception or error?
No it's nothing like Steel Division 2. Avoid this, it's a 2d strategy (like Operational Art of War f.e.) but this one is just hardcore, overly complex, slow, boring, ugly... and I like strategies. Strategic Command WWII or Hearts of Iron 3 (yes 3) are much better/interesting games.
Thanks that's what I thought as well just wanted a second opinion, I enjoyed HOI 4 until it begun to look bland and quite repetitive and thought this would replace it, I'll try strategic command WWII and HOI3 as well. SD2 was just so epic and cool both in mechanics and graphics, it's hard to find a new strategy game now. XD
I downloaded and installed this game Looks like to play just one turn is going to take many hours I found myself nodding off trying to decide what strategy to use 4 hours later all my units moved one hex! I think i'm going to play something a bit faster maybe hearts of iron 4 it's just about the same game but faster and in my opinion better looking.
You are comparing apples and oranges. Gary Grigsby's games are not meant for you. Dead simple. You haven't understood this "game" in the slightest. Have you read the more than 500 pg manual already? lul. THAT's how deep and realistic and historically accurate Gary Grigsby's War in the East is. It has as much to do with HOI4 as Uranium with Urine. By the by, this website is also not meant for your pointless review attempts. Nobody cares how much or how little you like the games you don't even pay for. Test them and if you like it, buy it. Nobody will not download a certain game just because you don't like it. I've got news for ya: Copernicus called, and you're not the centre of the universe. So... there you go.
Easier than the first WitE.
Edit: sry i lied, read this one:

WitE 2 is more extensive, prettier, more intuitive and more user-friendly.
