you can buy the PC game from Falcom's official store (or you know... other means) and then use a english patch on the game file. I recommend the "Geofront" english patch
Guys guys, Please DO NOT play this game if this is your first trails game. Let me explain, the trails series aka kiseki it's a long running series with over 10 games and counting currently. There are currently 3 arcs, The first one is Liberl arc, second one is Crossbell arc and the third one is Erebonia arc. The first game of the first arc is Sora No Kiseki aka Trails in the Sky, and the first game of the first arc is aka first chapter. Unlike many other game series, such as Final Fantasy, Dragon Quests etc, the game has a long and continuous story which means you cannot play the drop in at any title yo want, you have to start with the first release of the game and that is Trails in the sky FC. Well, If you're interested in the kiseki series. Here's the play-order you should follow First arc: Trail in the Sky FC -> SC -> 3rd Second arc: Trails From Zero (Fan translation possible, Please go visit Geofront homepage for more information) -> Trails to Azure (Currently there's a rough translation, but a better version made by geofront should release soon) Third Chapter: Trails of Cold Steel 1 (This game) -> 2 -> 3 -> 4 -> Hajimari (No translation currently, should be done soon by Nisa) Fourth Chapter: Kuro no Kiseki (Unreleased) Well here are a few tips to get started 1: Use a guide, Side quests in this game can expire based on your progression in the main story, so please use a guide. 2: Remember to talk to every NPC after a main quest or specific NPCs after a side quest. Because every NPC in the kiseki series has a story and it progress every time you finish a main quest, (For example, a small spoiler for sky here at the start of Sora No Kiseki FC, you would meet a guy staring at girl from a bridge, and when you talk to him, he told you that he wants to confess to that girl and at the end of SC. They actually get married in the same town at the end of the story, and that's not all, you see their entire journey from confession to dating, to traveling together and eventually marriage all in the game world. it is incredibly brilliant design and that's only 2 of the NPCs out of 452 NPCs, remember everyone has a story and some of this story involve side quests and main quests so please talk to every NPC every time the main story progresses) The world building in this game is absolutely brilliant, In fact you're looking at the best game world ever built in the entire game industry. You would do yourself a huge disservice if you don't talk to every NPC. 3: Never use the kiseki wiki, the spoiler there is pretty bad, so avoid it at all cost. 4: the 3rd game in the liberl arc is somewhat special. it might be a bit underwhelming and a bit boring after you completed the absolute masterpiece of Sky SC, but it does get much better afterward. so please stick with it. 5: Don't grind in this game (except in 3rd). Kiseki series is known for its good balancing, so no grinding is needed. (except the 3rd game which has some side quests that require some serious grinding but other than that the balancing in the series is great ) Anyways, This is really the best JRPG series that you should look into.
Where do I start first? they said that there are a lot of series for this game. P.S : Don't explain it too complicated, just tell me where to start cuz I'm pretty interested in this series
You don't need to play Sky or Crossbell to understand Cold Steel's story (Crossbell arc is actually around the same timeframe as Cold Steel 1-2 iirc). Three and Four is debateable, but i think you can still follow the story even if you don't play Sky or Crossbell series. Still, both Sky and Crossbell series are solid, Trails in the Sky FC are one of the best JRPG i've ever played. And what makes this series so special is their absolute insanely good world building throughout the arc. So yea, if you're into great story, you can start with Sky arc first. But if older engine/ graphics turned you off, it's fine to start with Cold Steel, or you can find the summary or Sky and Crossbell arc somewhere on the internet before you go into Cold Steel.
I think i want to try those, could i reach you in discord to know more about the games, maybe hd mods to play the older ones a little better and that kind of stuff the fans always have?
What I really want in a game in mainly mechanics, but through years of gaming I started appreciating games with great stories like to the moon and its sequel, opus rocket of whispers (I dunno why but as a child I really got hooked up in this game), broken age, and a lot of other games that really moved me. So if I see someone that gets enthusiastic about the story of a game. I know I need to play that. Thank you for the advice.
This is a great advice, except the play order. Not everyone have the time to play through hundreds of hours of the previous games. You can play the Erebonia Arc first and still enjoy the story. Except little details and jokes here and there, you're not missing much by playing Kiseki first. Personally, I started out with this game (the non-remastered version, of course), then tried the previous instalments over the course of a few years. But if you DO have the time, go ahead and follow this guy's play order, it's absolute gold.
Not really Erebonia and crossbell are are interchangeable as both story line work at the same time. all arc including liberl arc can be played in any order as long as you play from the start of the arc.
Thanks for Your explanation, the real gamers know How much time and effort did it take to prepare such an explanation? Continue Your great work, mate. Any info. about the games, You will share it with Us will make other gamers appreciate You more. Thanks again.
i actually think cold steel I & II are better entry points into the series. first half of the cold steel saga was made to allow players to jump in without needing to play the previous games. they look more modern and while the pace of the entire saga( all 4 games )is considered slow and too long the first game enters an interesting point earlier in the story than the first trails in the sky game. the first game barely references the early games . the 2nd got relatively more references while also happening during the same time as another game(but i actually think this 2nd cold steel game actually spoils less then the other game that you would have played earlier if going by release order). if you want to start this series the entry point is either the cold steel I & II games or the sky I & II games. but do know that if you will decide to continue with the series you will need everything that came before it to understand the story and cold steel III expects you to not only play all the previous games but to also finish cold steel II twice for extra scenes. as to why i recommend cold steel first? because if you are going to get invested into the story you will probably need to go through the cold steel arc( at least the 2nd game) twice. and you will need to spend a lot more time with the core cast of cold steel than any other cast(for at least 4 and maybe 5 games with them as central characters) so you could play the first two cs games, decide if you want to invest more in this game's world and go through all series chronologically understanding more in your second run through.
To be honest, this is bullshit. The game by itself is great and yes, you will be able to catch some jokes and additional easter eggs if you played the previous games, but true is that you don't have to play them to enjoy this one. If after playing this game you feel the need to look and explore more into this wonderfull universe you are more than welcome to do it, but do no let that the false expectation of loosing something if you didn't play the previous games stop you from playing Cold Steel.
To be honest you don't really have to play from the first game to feel the story. You can play trails of cold steel without feeling too left out. The original characters from the story before Cold steel are usually just cameo, at least at the first chapter of Cold Steel. I don't really know about the second chapter tho, but the first chapter ended in a pretty big cliffhanger. DAMN YOU CROW! And I agree with you about the world building, this game is fun as heck! Almost every NPC has a story to tell, and in this game many of the students NPC are actually fun to talk to! Some tips: If you want to feel the story just use easy mode. If you want challenge, use hard mode!
This one is the same content as 'Trails of Cold Steel'. It's just different game publisher, for Asian player (traditional Chinese and Korean). 'Sen no Kiseki I KAI' is Japanese pronounce .
The first edition of the game (port) had mods to cover the features of this "Kai"/Remastered version, so it really wasn't needed either... Unless this has some other new feature not mentioned here.
honestly "SenPatcher" and the hd texture pack made those versions so much better i highly recommend anyone playing those games to apply them (if for some reason they still haven't)
The regular versions of 1 & 2 published by XSEED had a couple of flaws, but the mods made up for them. So what I mean is, if you are playing or plan to play those games, you should apply the mods to have a better experience. Also this new releases are chinese and korean only.
"The game also features the popular high-speed Skip Mode from the PlayStation®4 version." Ah yes, marketing bullshit, its not like it was the english pc ports that first introduced that. Thank you PS4.
Do you mean IGG or steam? Cause im not sure if your aware but there are hundreds of non-English supported games on Steam. I have bought a few and have others favourited. Some get English translations eventually due to support of English users that ask for it.
This is not for some one like You . The only ( gaijin ) here is You freak . You do not understand anything here . This sign is to explain that this game dose not have English support for all other gamers Its not about the quality of the game . You are the only outsider Who try to get some attention . Go to see a Psychologist and take with You all the freaks like You , I do not have a time to spent it on some one like You .

Fourth Chapter: Kuro no Kiseki (Unreleased)

a) confused
b) regretting playing it before the others
c) all of the above
