Maybe the writing does takes weeks at most not months and the programming used would actually just take a single day to do if u already have the story done and just add them into the code Most writers and stories are normally already done they just tend to release/publishes them in length cause they wanna see how people react to the stories 1st and slowly change them over time so the book can gain traction since they arent just writing for passion but for also money cause writing material aint free
That's almost insulting to say this only took weeks- this is one of the longer stories and pretty high quality, involves a ton of world building. I would not be surprised if this took months/years to fully conceptualize. Most regular novels fall between 80k-100k words, this is 250k and has to accommodate for multiple paths, not even to mention all of the programming.
as someone who studied both ACT-Animation and journal keeping. Story telling does only take weeks at most since most of the story is already give a "mind-sketch" I have work in a few publishing chains (mostly for book-keepin) and I can say talking to a few authors and animators story boarding only does take weeks sometimes month but never over a year since most of the story is already thought off when writhing comes to play thats where they would occasionally add a few spices(this is what makes a story even longer) if u happen to have "writers block" thats what using up a huge amount of time but for the most part the stories would already be in waiting they just need to add those finishing touches
